Corcorans were brown during WWII and changed to black color sometime in the mid to late 1950's. Yep, same for me. Razorbacks hurt a lot on concrete though. That was a bad idea on my part. I own 3 pairs of Jim Greens and the fit is always excellent. 2 African Rangers and 1 barefoot boot.
@@oscarbear7498 the Houston Black looks excellent. I wanted to get one but my Fudge is still new. I got a Houston Black AR for my brother. I don't think he's ready for barefoot yet.
I actually bought a pair of the Ariat Two24 Highland boots when I saw your video like 2 years ago. Since then, I've now got two pairs of Iron Rangers and even a pair of IRs for my girlfriend (also bought after your Iron Ranger video). I'd say anyone is safe taking your word on these boot videos as advice, because my personal experience had left me owing you a lot. Keep up the good work my man 👍
I love my Iron Rangers. So well made, excellent materials. I've heard the Wolverine 1000 Miles are similar but with the edge usually going to the Iron Rangers. Also the IR have different widths available while the 1000 Miles don't.
Two great value bang for buck brands I hope you check out. 1) Meermin - especially their whole cut chelsea boots at around $240 2) Yanko - both moc toe and service boot Both brands are old mallorcan brands. Meermin manufactures in china though, but yanko makes their boots in Spain.
I still love my Portuguese Urban Shepherd boots, especially for the price I got them at a year ago (€145 after taxes, instead of the current price of €195). On paper the materials used should be pretty good. Kind of wish those would get cut apart at some point to see if they're actually made well.
My all time favorite cap toe is the White's MP boot. Since I've gotten those I've barely wanted to wear anything else. Seeing those cut in half would be pretty cool, or you know just go all the way can cut a viberg cap toe service boot in half. And I'm glad I got my Ariat two24's when I did cause I love those boots and didn't realize they had stopped making them.
Couldn't agree more on the White's MP. My most comfortable pair of boots out of the 10 or so that I own. It would be my top pick if I could only have one.
Cheers from Finland, Weston! Thanks for both channels - they've really given me a whole new appreciation into shoemaking and the quality of good shoes. After watching these videos, got myself Red Wings Moc Toe boot and the Iron Ranger Muleskinner Hawthorne and AM LOVING THEM. Keep up the great work!

William Lennon, based in Derbyshire in England, make a captoe boot in the traditional English style. I think you can choose different leathers and sole options. I'd be curious to see what people in America think of WL
@@_bats_ Have you seen their boots & shoes that use a "fully sprung" last? The ones for shepherds & anyone working on the hills... Also they were one of the companies contracted to make boots for the British Army in WW1 and make them to this day to the same specifications
I've got the Beckett Simonon ones, snagged them for $180 (they go on sale a lot), excellent value in my opinion. I've seen a lot of videos on your channel and have tried a few pairs of boots in that $150-350 range, and the Becket Simonons are definitely as good as boots that cost twice as much. I also have a pair of blundstones, and I doubt they'll last as long, but damn they really are comfortable. I got the more winterized ones with the sealed seams and wool liner, and they're so warm and soft.
The corcoran jump boot is a dress boot. Your criticism of it is valid, but they arent really meant to be worn more than a few hours every couple months. The black version is still issued to paratroopers, and I think they just offered a brown version as a throwback style.
I love my Iron Rangers. Had them for about 4 years. Absolutely love them. (I'm curious what Weston is gonna find tomorrow when he cuts a 2022 IR in half--hopefully the same good things)
Well now I want to get another pair of Nicks but cap toe. I have the iron rangers and a pair of Nicks prospectors and there is no contest which one is more comfortable to wear....Nicks by a landslide.
Not a cap toe, but I'd love to see you review the Jim Green AR8 boot. They're also planning to upgrade their insole as well as releasing a new "slim fit last option" in early 2023 which sounds like it might be something special. I never even heard of Jim Green before you cut up the Razorbacks, and since then I've become a big fan of their footwear, so I'm interested in what's coming from them.
@@KillerNoob2001 Jim Green has a video that shows how they're made, but I'd still like to see Weston cut them in two, measure them, burn them, poke holes in them, and generally put them through their paces.

Cap toe content is always appreciated. More brands I’d like to see are Mark Albert, John Lofgren, Parkhurst, and Truman for cap toes. I’d also like to see Sendra and Double H boots reviewed if you keep the cowboy boot series going. Bates tactical boots are great in that type, too. And thanks for the great videos, as always.
Regarding Thursday Boots, I purchased a pair of Captain Boots precisely a month ago and have been quite impressed, to be honest. Before wearing them, I used Black Rock to moisturize them, polished them with Tarrago She Cream, and broke them in without much effort or discomfort with the $200.00 price. Hence, it is a good value, and I have read several reviews before making the purchase, and they communicate the same. I like my Thursday Boots and plan to purchase another pair later next year but in another color. I realize the Iron Ranger boots are possibly better quality, but they are much more expensive in the $350.00 + range.
The footage is indeed very smooth and well graded but overall my take away from you lovely video was the way you captured the sheer buety of the Lock. I haven't been up loch Etive in many years but I was right back there, the stillness, the space and light is wonderful. Fabulous work 👏 👌 👍
I think Gripfast boots are pretty cool. They have an Iron Ranger look while also having a steel toe. I got my first pair of Gripfast when I was 15 (I'm 39 now) and went through a few pairs. I switched to Docs then Solovairs because they were a bit more comfortable. I recently bought my first Iron Rangers in black (of course) and with the extra leather insoles, they're the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. They look better as they get scratched and beat up. Iron Rangers are my new favorites. I'm thinking about getting another pair in a different color or a pair of Blacksmiths in black after I'm done with my Christmas shopping.
I really wish Ariat would make the bison leather boot again. When I first started watching your channel and learning about boots, that boot was going to be my first purchase. Instead, I got some Thursdays and ended up buying 5 more pairs lol. I would still buy the Ariat bison boot though if they brought it back. They pretty much only have western style stuff now which is ok. I do have a few pairs of those. The Booker Ultra Western boot is a nice ok boot. That is my go-to boot for when i need to slip something on quick or wear around the house. The highland boot seemed like a good boot, so I am not sure why they stopped selling it. And by the way, the Thursday LOGGER boot now has a thicker heel cap with a Thursday brand outsole. I bet too many people, myself included, were complaining about the heel cap being so thin. I had to take mine to the cobbler to fix that issue.
I couldn’t agree more on the number 1 boot. I own three pairs of iron rangers and they are the best boots I have ever worn. Really hard to beat for the price ❤
The wide toe box you get with the Jim Green Boots has saved my feet. It's basically impossible to buy a extra wide boot these days. The widest I can find is 2E with ALL of the big name boot makers and all the no name or cheap boot makers. About 5 years ago I started having a hard time finding 4E wide round toe boots and now you cant find them at all. Why anyone would want their feet squished and jammed into a narrow toe box I can not understand. Thank god for Jim Green.
I bought the Ariat Two24 based on your original video. Still enjoy the boots. Would buy pair used if I come across. No longer make the Two24 Series so I moved over / up to Grant Stone.
Another great video! I'm super interested in the Truman boot company's cap-toes, for example the upland. They are angled in a way that makes them look cool but it's only cutting them apart that shoes their mettle.
I have the Beckett Siminon Dowler and like them quite a lot for the price. They are very soft yet rigid. No break in period at all and look surprisingly sharp for how low the cost is. I also have the Keen Ridge Flex in black and grey (wearing them now). They are extremely comfortable and versatile. They almost wear more like a sneaker. The tread has held up well, but the construction isn't the cleanest. There are some sloppy glue spots, loose, uneven stiching, but they've held together pretty well for a cement construction. The rubber Keen bellows flex panel on the top of the foot is a complete gimmick. It adds flexibility but the rubber split after like the third or fourth wear. That compromised the water proofing obviously. Overall not impressed for a Keen that's over $200. But I still like the brand.
I have been wearing my 2022 Amber Harness Iron Rangers all day every day (doing HVAC in Greenville) for the last 3 months, and I absolutely love them. Thanks for your videos.
I work at a paper mill, I think Keene makes the best boot. Now I’m gonna reconsider. I got a 9.5 wide. Or a ten if they don’t have my size. But my boot fits like a glove.
I say #1 is a tossup between White's MP-Sherman, Nicks Falcon and Viberg's Service boot. Nicks #1 (Falcon - Custom Configuration) for leather quantity and toughness. Viberg #1 for style and material quality, variety of leather options and attention to detail. White's MPs are almost a hybrid between Nicks and Viberg, except the fine details don't match Viberg and quality control at White's has been a little hit and miss recently.
Could you do a Top 10 list of true cap toe boots? A list of ones like the Iron Ranger with an extra layer of leather over the toe box? That would be helpful!
I have two pairs of iron rangers and never had any issues with breaking them in at all ! Maybe it’s luck but that’s coming from a guy who has had a few spinal surgeries so I value softness . If I know I’m on my feet all day I may choose the thorogood boots for that reason but my rangers are my most worn boot to date
Hey Weston, if you want to look at a boot that no one has really heard of but is popular in Canada, check out the WM Moorby line by Canada West boots. They have several cap toes, and also a horween leather one (model 2821). I have a pair and they are awesome, just as good as redwing boots but cheaper (because Canada).
They’re nice, but heavy and that arch support and high heels won’t do your foot and leg health any favors, as an American I’m clamoring over the European options like Gaucho Ninja and Crown Northampton
@@nickrenton2668 nope, but they look fine after a quick glance. however i only wear barefoot style boots and shoes for health reasons. ill never wear stiff, arch support boots with heels seriously ever again. Gaucho Ninja are the only ones making bespoke barefoot footwear healthy for your feet.
I own a few dozen boots, maybe 7 or 8 Redwings, but I only have multiples of one boot, the iron ranger, once broken in the most comfortable boot I wear.
I don’t see a Viberg 310 boot on there, I’ve been wearing a horsebutt version of this boot for 10 years and I ride a bike and use them for work in all weathers and when resoled they come up like new.
I would love to see you cut open some mountaineering boots such as La sportiva, lowa etc lots of competition in that world of boot making and a lives are on the line. You could really help out that part of the boot community.
Quite a few of the top cap toe boots Weston hasn't reviewed yet. White's MP, Viberg's Service Boot, and Nick's Americana are the first that jump into my mind.
Looking for a suggestion. I stand on a ladder working and the stress on my arches kills my heals. Will a steel shank in a wedge sole be a good choice. Your help would be appreciated.
Would be nice to see some made in England boots to see how they compare to mitusa. I don't own any but I recently discovered Lanx boots and they look real good at a good price
Jim greens should be number 2. True toe cap. Just like iron rangers, once broken in they feel better under foot. I also like barefoot shoes though so I may be used to the hardness under foot.
I had my eyes on the Ariat two24 for the past few years and i put off purchasing numerous times, and then I saw they stopped making them and was furious with myself I never purchased.
The Thursday loggers are actual chromexcel because they have another model now with a similar leather and a big lugged sole and they specifically said on Facebook those aren’t Chromexcel.
Your videos are so helpful!!! I started watching the main channel looking for boots for my hubby. However I recently got myself Thursday Captains and they are the BEST shoe I have ever owned. I unload trucks and stock shelves at my local grocery store (10-12k steps a night). They are literally the only shoe I have only had one day of break-in tenderness. My only wish is that they made the US line in either women's sizes or one size smaller in the men's.
Yes, it always gets overlooked. Wolverine 1000 Mile Cap-toe is as dressy as Thursday but more durable and almost as durable as Iron Ranger but more dressy. Also more comfortable than both.
Check out Woobies, probably the new mod2. They might be the kind of durable you're looking for. Veteran owned & operated, made in Texas. The new mod2 high top has an oil and slip resistant outsole ( so good work shoes ), and you may like how the tread is a topographical map pattern.
Fantastic run down! Thanks. I'd really love to see you add Frank's Boots new Patriot model to your MiUSA series. It looks like maybe the best value in a work boot out there. It'd be even better to see how it compares to other "budget" GYW models from the PNW makers like the JK 300 and White's Line Scout.
Can't say anything about the boot in question but I have a pair of the Oliver Cabell chelseas and while I don't think they're terrible, they're definitely overpriced. Showed up already with some kind of stain (looks like water) right on the front of the boot and it feels like you're almost walking on the pavement with them on in the front of the foot. Do they look good for the most part? Yes. Do I regret buying them over a pair from somewhere else though? Yes
I want a pair of the Thursday loggers but they seem to have limited sizing and don't go to a 12.5 or 13. I hope they offer them at some point but I can't even attempt to fit into an 11
I was in Redwing last Saturday. I could not get a pair of 10875s. None in store or warehouse. Also wanted to get the wife a pair of Eileen’s 3399s. He told me the heritage plant was closed and had been for a wile. He found me a store with the 3399s. I had to drive an hour and 45 min to get em’. I ended up wearing my Thorogood Mocs to work.
A suggestion for a toe cap sneaker (sort of ) is the Nike SB chrono2 the only issue was i would blow out the sole in 6 months using them ever single day mind you.

Cut some Allen Edmonds. I've got a lot of them and am really interested in how they compare.
I have a pair of moorby and love them!! Great boots for the price.
@@matthewclarke6757 Nice! I have a pair of the 2830 model. Got them on sale, and it's crazy how much value you get for the price.
No grant stone?
Man I wish we had access to the boots that you review - of course here in the uk we have redwing but I’m desperate for a Pacific Northwest boot.
They’re nice, but heavy and that arch support and high heels won’t do your foot and leg health any favors, as an American I’m clamoring over the European options like Gaucho Ninja and Crown Northampton
@@memefeed2147 have you checked out Loake?
Whites, Viberg, Wesco etc are all for sale in UK.
@@Rockingstars there isn’t a massive range and it’s nigh on impossible to try anything on.
Iron Ranger is my Number 1. I've got an old pair of hawthorne roughout w/ corksole and a new pair with Copper R&T with the Vibram mini lug.
Truman, Parkhurst, Meermin, viberg, whites, Grant Stone. All have great Cap toe or Jumper Boots
I don’t see a Viberg 310 boot on there, I’ve been wearing a horsebutt version of this boot for 10 years and I ride a bike and use them for work in all weathers and when resoled they come up like new.
Hey dude, would love to see ya do a video on Frye and/or Bed Stu boots! I have multiple pairs of each and they seem to be comfy and well built.
I would love to see you cut open some mountaineering boots such as La sportiva, lowa etc lots of competition in that world of boot making and a lives are on the line. You could really help out that part of the boot community.
I'm interested to see your opinion on Truman's service boots on the 79 last.
Bit of a shame you haven't, yet, looked at the Grant Stone Cap Toe Boot. Quality is tip top.
Quite a few of the top cap toe boots Weston hasn't reviewed yet. White's MP, Viberg's Service Boot, and Nick's Americana are the first that jump into my mind.
Have you ever done a video on best to worst motor cross boots thanks corky
Thanks for another great video. Any chance you can cut any Irish Setters, 861 perhaps?
Looking for a suggestion. I stand on a ladder working and the stress on my arches kills my heals. Will a steel shank in a wedge sole be a good choice. Your help would be appreciated.
Took me a while to break in my Iron Rangers, but it was/is so worth it. I wear them every day, except for the summer
Have you done the Allen Edmonds Patton? It is a captoe. It is a nice boot.
So glad I subscribed to rose anvil 2. It's loose but so much fun and a new video always pops up when I east expect it.
Would be nice to see some made in England boots to see how they compare to mitusa. I don't own any but I recently discovered Lanx boots and they look real good at a good price
Loakes are a good value. UK lasts are a lot different from MITUSA, they’re not for everyone.
Just need the right "ingredients".
Jim greens should be number 2. True toe cap. Just like iron rangers, once broken in they feel better under foot. I also like barefoot shoes though so I may be used to the hardness under foot.
Love me some Jim Greens!
I had my eyes on the Ariat two24 for the past few years and i put off purchasing numerous times, and then I saw they stopped making them and was furious with myself I never purchased.
I'm loving this second channel Weston. Great video and that's horrible you didn't get paid by Oliver Cabell, that's embarrassing.
The Thursday loggers are actual chromexcel because they have another model now with a similar leather and a big lugged sole and they specifically said on Facebook those aren’t Chromexcel.
Are you ever going to do a series on hiking boots?
All I want is a made in us new balance review. Specifically the 990v3s
Grant Stone Cap Toe Boot! I have a pair in chocolate antique calf, lovely boot.
Did you see jim green announced a new boot with a leather lasting board?
Your videos are so helpful!!! I started watching the main channel looking for boots for my hubby. However I recently got myself Thursday Captains and they are the BEST shoe I have ever owned. I unload trucks and stock shelves at my local grocery store (10-12k steps a night). They are literally the only shoe I have only had one day of break-in tenderness. My only wish is that they made the US line in either women's sizes or one size smaller in the men's.
I purchased two pairs of iron Rangers, and both have stples coming through the insole in two places! Just what you need in £700 boots!
Isn't there a Wolverine 1000 Mile Cap-Toe Version🤔
Yes
Are you still going to review the Danner 917 GTX Logger? I saw you mention it a while ago and i'm interested.
can you do a video for smaller size boots? mens boots usually only go down to 7 for 8.
I just bought some Thursdays vanguard. Interested how they hold up
Can you share the build specs of the ND1 ? That is a very good looking boot .
I want a pair of the Thursday loggers but they seem to have limited sizing and don't go to a 12.5 or 13. I hope they offer them at some point but I can't even attempt to fit into an 11
21:20 im dumb and cant find the video of the new iron ranger.
How come you never mention/review Wesco? Even today, when you listed off the “northwest” style boots, they didn’t make your list
Wearing number 1 as I watch this. Good stuff. Love the things.
Puma Super Liga has a toe cap & would love to see them cut.
could you do a ranking for heritage hiking boots/hunting boots?
Hey man! Big fan keep up✌🏽 out of curiosity, how come you never cut a pair of viberg? Looking forward
Wolverine Blvd? they seem to be a good value and materials/construction. Vid/review please...
A suggestion for a toe cap sneaker (sort of ) is the Nike SB chrono2 the only issue was i would blow out the sole in 6 months using them ever single day mind you.
I agree with the #1. I have them. I’ve had them in the past. I have the ND1s, I’ve had Whites Mp Sherman. I still love my IRs
No Nicks or Whites? Both make a true cap toe and are killer.
How about looking at a Northampton Loake boot at some point?
I have a pair of Loake Sedberg and would like to see the construction
I watch these videos like I have personal investment 😂 I just like knowing I made a solid purchase. Thanks for validating me haha
Would love to see a review of the Allen Edmonds park city boot. Cap toe, leather storm welt, leather midsole and gloxi sole. I wanna know what’s inside!
Since we are on the subject of toe caps, could there be in the future, maybe, a video on Iron Ranger sizing like you did for the moc toes...?
