I just want to remind you I was one of your first 2000 subs, and at that time I barely could even compress a bass line to a kick and now I have music on Spotify and Apple Music. You have taught me a lot and I just wanted to thank you. You also helped me install serum in the comments of one of your videos! You are great! Thanks a ton! :)
Dude…Iv been watching videos on how to do chords all morning. Then I came across this 🙏🏼 you’re an absolute genius, the most simplest way. Thank you man ❤
In simpler words, write your music in the key of C and work with the arpeggios of keys that are natural. Then, you can switch it to minors, blues, harmonic minors, flat/sharp majors, etc. Aka, the tonic, third, and fifth. 1,3,5. Then learn chord progressions. Using note intervals. For instance, A I, IV, V, III progression sounds nice. The degree of that scale will be your tonic for the chord :)
Alex Rome thank you for the content! quick question, is it worth saving up for Sylenth1? I love producing, but I feel a bit limited by Logic's stock sounds (and the ones I can make in ES2 etc). Is this a correct occasion for the worker to blame his tools?
Alex, I like to watch your videos from time to time ; they're really nice. This one, though... Not so good. Don't take this the wrong way, but I feel you could really benefit from learning (and teaching your audience) the slightest bit of music theory. I mean, knowing what a major and a minor chords are (root, major/minor third, fifth) is absolutely essential for any music producer IMO. And it's really, really simple. I agree that "what sounds good" is a good start, but just understanding what you're doing is also very important. What you're doing in this video, basically, is teaching how to do major and minor chord, on the C major scale, and moving them up or down. You found the most basic and popular chord progression : F - G - Am - G. And then rearranged them to Am - G - F - G.
I really wanna thank you because you helped me a lot ,I was having a big problem with chords and you fixed it for me.I really appreciate that.Thank you
You ever consider looking into music theory a little bro? I've been doing so myself and it's helpful cause you realise a lot of things and it helps with making chords and even melodies cause you know what you're doing and also what actually works and what doesn't before even starting. Just a question no hate haha
Alex, you should do a basix mixing Edm tutorial for the kind if basics when it comes to mixing a track. And aswell explain to all of the viewers how important it actually is with the mix togheter.
To be honest, then easiest way is to get your bass-line, then add the perfect 5th of the chord (no5 dyad chord) as practically EVERY standard chord uses the perfect 5th, especially in dance music, then now all you've got to do is add in the 3rd (or 2nd or perfect 4th voice for the chord to become a sustain triad) for the chord to go from a dyad to triad. It sounds difficult but with basic musical theory that can be learnt over just a week, you'd feel stupid that you didn't understand. Not knowing theory is like being a surgeon and not knowing the human anatomy. But, I do think this is a great method and a great tutorial for the lesser experienced guys! Very easy to follow and understand Alex, liked!
