  • This oak accent wall isn't an easy install. There are 7 electrical boxes to cut in and the stakes are high...

Probably easier to have the electrician move the outlet if the holes didn’t line up.

That. And those wall panels do not cost 1000's $ each 😂😂😂😂 maybe 250$ max, and shouldn't be doing that work if you're gonna mess up the entire house anyways

Nice work. Hopefully the client changes the black cover plates out for white oak covers.

We think the black goes perfectly with the door and TV. The full length video is coming so stay tuned! Thanks!

Why spend so much on nice accent panels but use cheap plastic plates? Use dark brushed or polished metal finish plates.

Why put up cheap looking plastic switch plates? I'd look into brushed steel

As a drywall guy, I cannot imagine doing that with would. I mean, I can, but I don't want to. Leave it to the taper

I did it with drywall for years, so maybe that's where my practice comes in. But I can't just mud it later

@@FortressFineWoodworks I know. Not having the taper to fall back on would be scary, and I'm the taper. I don't want to fix it, but at least I can

Well youre a finish carpenter and shouldnt be making rookie measuemring mistakes to start. Secondly those wall panels may cost 1000's for the entire job, but are you really going to cut them all wrong?
Whats the max cost on 1 fabricated sheet? 250$ max?
So cutting wrong would cost 250$ not 1000's$. Again if youre gonna cut every panel wrong, youre definately in the wrong business.

Let's do the math. The total cost was 7,000$ with 9 panels. But that's the cost of making all 9 panels together. If I miscut one, I have to reinvest time into buying the lumber again, milling it, finishing it, assembling it into a panel, returning to the residence, and finally installing it.
      So yes, thousands.
Not to mention, it would put me behind on the next job which would be money I'm not making. So you can add that into the total.

@@FortressFineWoodworks ok you made it all yourself from scratch, well badass. I can understand how they are 900$ panels after labor. Great work

You could use a bunch of cardboard to make a template....

That's a great idea, and I have done that. Although this was a 9 foot ceiling so I'd have to save up quite a few amazon boxes!

I’d probably spend an entire day remeasuring before I felt confident to cut into those 😅
