    I am surprised how many negative comments on this video... These people just wanted to show other people on the youtube how they did certain things.. You can like it, you can dislike it, you can skip it... Why so much hate? What's going on with the world?

      I agree, she doesn't deserve the hate. It's a DIY, it's not meant to be professional. She's happy with what she did, she's proud, and if she changes her mind in a few years she'll be able to make something new easily.

    The idea is great. The construction is normally different. You would first apply a sheet of MDF or a board. Affix the board to the studs, sand and paint, then apply the slats. That way you can use glue and nails w/o damage to the wall and it will be a more permanent/secure application. A primer is crucial when painting with darker colors. Otherwise, Im super proud of the effort. 👏

    Hi, loving some of your begginer advice as I'm going to start sharing all my cool stuff soon. My stuff that I think is cool anyway. Since I grabbed a little handful of your tips, thought it only fair to leave one for your propagation. This may very well be rife input, but it is a pretty simple technique for holding lighter-weight, non-structural materials to sheetrock like slats for instance. Works best with longer 16‐18gauge nails ( I always keep 2" loaded up). Shoot one at 11 o'clock and as close to the head of your 11 nail as possible, fire another at 1 o'clock. Kind of shooting a v away from yourself creating a pretty stable anchor. Obviously lots of people would say glue or caulk, but trying to blow and go on something this tedious saves lots of nails and is much much less permanent. Meaning if you need to make it be not, the pinholes to be filled are much less work than removing the glue and sheetrock/texture the glue takes with it.(usually requiring new rock all together) I do apologize, I have a strange condition where when I have simple thought i expel a massively prolix and windy, but gratuitous, thicket of a grapheme and phoneme amalgamate. See lol. I talk too much would be more concise

    Are you concerned that brad nails won't keep the slats from warping with changes in humidity? Did you consider using a backer board and screwing from behind to provide more ridgity and would be interested to know why or why not? Thank you!

    • @Hanasdiyhome
      @Hanasdiyhome  Год назад

      Hi Carl! This has been up for 4 months and there’s no issues yet. Since we did a geometric design in the other side of the wall, we wanted the slats to be as close to the wall as possible. I guess you could do the backer board depending on your environment.

      Wondering what you would think about this method but in a partially underground basement? We are thinking of doing a single wall like this but attaching it to MDF/Plywood, then attaching that panel to cinderblock walls. How would we attach the slats to allow them not to warp with humidty?

    Don't you glue the slat to the wall, I see you are just nailing them ?

    Don't you need glue? That stuff is going to walk all over the house as it goes thru the seasons.

      @@Hanasdiyhome This looks fantastic! Where did you get the slats? Is this just simple wood lumber from a big box store?

    • @Hanasdiyhome
      @Hanasdiyhome  Год назад +1

      @@TheKurfer Hi Chris. These are poplar. You might be able to get them from a hardware store but typically you will find pine in the same dimensions at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Poplar is a bit more expensive but the wood grain is really much more beautiful and it can be found at a more specialty hardware store.

      We didn’t want to have to tear down drywall if they get sick and tired of it.

      @@Hanasdiyhome your gonna mess up the drywall regardless. But ya less fixes. Just thought it was attached a bit light for the amount of work put into.but ya your not wrong.
