The existence of Toy Story is the reason why it took me until NOW to be able to find this again because I couldn't remember the exact title other than it had something to do with "the making of toys".
@@kriscynical You didn't remember any of the characters' names? Searching for Peepers and Zoom might have helped. Good that you found this movie again.
@@Mazryonh Nope, I didn't. I visually remembered the characters themselves, but not their names for some reason. Seeing them while skipping through the video to see if it was actually what I was looking for is what made me realize that _oh my god, this IS what I've been looking for!_ 😂
I did too! I rented this all the time in the '80s and very early '90s from a tiny hole in the wall independently owned video rental place called Overland Rentals and I could not for the life of me remember what the name of it was, only that it was about toys.
I have been googling and searching for this for about 23 years. I used to watch this every time I would visit my grandparents. I would always hide the VHS tape from my accident prone younger cousins lol. This movie was *IT* for me.
You are a saint. This made me cry. You don’t understand how much this meant to me as a kid, and I can finally re-watch it. Thankyou, no sarcasm. Thankyou!
I have literally been looking for this movie for decades I owned it on vhs watched it when I was really young and always wondered if it was real or not
I have literally been searching for this movie for decades. I did not remember it being a Disney thing, and I couldn't remember the title of it save for it being something about the making of toys. With Toy Story existing it made the search just about impossible, but here it is, oh my god. I used to rent this all the time from a tiny hole in the wall independently owned video rental place down the street in the 80s and very early 90s. Bless you for uploading it! I'm almost 40 but feel like I'm five again.
Wow, great to see this again. Watched this on the Disney Channel back in the 80’s, and immediately asked my mom to take me to the local mom-&-pop toy store to buy the Zoom and Peepers toys. I had a number of the other wind-ups as well, including the Zoids, and I still own the blue binoculars-looking electronic game they were designing.
Zoom: Hi there, pal. Mind if I introduce myself? Howdy. What's the matter with these guys? I don't even have them answer me. Kenji: None of these new toys can talk. Don't feel bad, Zoom. Peepers: But how come we can talk? Kenji: That's because you have somebody who loves you. Just as soon as these new toys find someone like that, they'll be able to talk, too. Peepers: Someone who loves us. Zoom: That's Robin.
This is such a unique movie. Very different from Toy Story later. Rather like Garfield in the sense that the toys have voices given to their thoughts, and are seeking the answer to an existential question. Plus their interactions with human's are positive. It also has a slightly experimental vibe that is very different from Disney's later polished (if less soulful) style of live action movies.
I loved this movie as a kid my grandfather use to play it for me all the time very nostalgic watching it again and I watched the whole thing! Thank you to who ever posted this!
I remember first finding out about this movie when I was in high-school and being curious I decided to look it up just to see what it was all about and from the clips that I saw I was instantly charmed and inthrallred by this movie And then just last night before I had gotten ready to drift off to sleep I suddenly remembered this movie and wanted to look it up just to see if I could remember the name of it And yet here I am writing out this comment while watching the movie And after that initial viewing of this movie coming back to it in 2024 it is still as charming and uquinqe As it was during my first viewing of it
So here's what confuses me...if I was able to find it now after searching *one line* - "toys that try and find the factory they were made in vhs" - and find it *IMMEDIATELY* at that, and with many more results past this video that obviously was only uploaded two years ago, *why on earth could I not find it for nearly 20 years through far more elaborate searches?* Especially considering it was a Disney thing...how? I was so much more thorough. Down to one of the toys being a pair of binoculars. Everything I could remember. Suddenly, it just shows up again along with a bunch of other childhood stuff I had been looking for forever. I swear, it's as though there was a long period of time where this just disappeared. Erased from existence, my VHS tape included. Thank you for uploading this. Thank you.
I actually did not see this film until yesterday, and I have to say I’m pretty intrigued. This is especially because the majority of this film was produced in Japan and at the offices and facilities of Tomy Company, Ltd. Also, fun fact: the late, great Ryuichi Sakamoto was involved with this film. Also, towards the end of the film, the computer you see was actually a Japanese Tomy Tutor, known there as “Pyuuta” (ぴゅう太).
it would be interesting to record the music from 18:26 to 19:43, time travel with it back to the year 1520 and play it loud in the middle of the night. i wonder how people back then would have reacted to that
when zoom was riding on the merry go round from 12:09 to 12:19, it reminded me of when my sister was a kid and she would sometimes put her e.t. doll on the turntable of a record player she had, turn it on and her e.t. doll would go for a roundabout ride
Am I seriously the only one who found this extremely unsettling as a kid- and still as an adult? This movie is scary dude. The music does not belong, the weird dinosaur toys constantly tormenting zoom made noises fitting a hell demon, and don't even get me started on the old toys scene. This movie needs to return to the grave and stay buried.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS MOVIE AGAIN
Same yo!
Same
Sameeee
I spent 2020 scouring the internet for the toys from this movie. will DM anyone who wants to see lmao
MY PEOPLE
This Movie and The Brave Little Toaster is way before Toy Story
There you have it folks: the original Toy Story by Disney, made even before the first actual Toy Story movie back in 1995.
Mazryonh ever watch the Jim Henson special called The Christmas Toy??
@@PIXELSURPRISE Never have, sorry.
