Sarah Crews My memories are awfully fuzzy, so I don’t know what I can tell you for certain. I have no recollection of the makeup removal, so it was probably very easy to wash off. What I do recall was the “eons” of time I had to sit still while the makeup artist applied it all. (For a hyperactive and incredibly obnoxious child, that was a torturous way to spend a Saturday morning. I feel sorry for all the adults who had to put up with me.). I do recall they made a big deal about the safe and hypoallergenic nature of the makeups, which turned out to be absolutely true. For hard facts, your best bet might be to find some sort of archivist at Schering-Plough and email them? If you can navigate the monolithic corporation they’ve become. The Paas stuff was all made by a (slightly-smaller) Plough company, based here in Memphis.
Lil Dill Jones and Me! I remember doing tv spots for Big Brothers and McGruff (the crime dog), but I suspect they were regional and thus far less likely to wind up anywhere here. The BB one was just me talking to an off camera voice. The McGruff one was a whole bunch of kids... playing? In a playground? Running down a hill maybe? All I remember for sure is that we had to pretend it was Spring when it was actually still a VERY cold winter. They had giant turbine heater fans that were loud and could only be turned on between takes. And we were dressed in shorts and t-shirts! But, we did it for McGruff, man! And we’d do it again if he asked! I recall making US$400 for either the BB ad or both of the Pass makeup shoots. I just remember the 4-0-0 part. Dad wisely held on to it, but allowed me to spend it as I pleased. Should come as no surprise to any 80’s kid that it all went toward a vast array of Star Wars and Transformers toys. Ten-year-old me LIVED, baby! ^_^ Oh, and I was also featured in an episode of Dick Williams’ Magicland, which was a regional Memphis-area thing for kids. Mr. Williams (and a panda bear puppet, I think) did some magic for me. I think that was just lucky, though. Now I really wanna search RUclips for that and I know I’ll wind up sleep-deprived and disappointed.

Sadly no !! Hardly any of the 900#'s work ! Just a few sex ones !! Wish there was a way to bring them back for at least Halloween time !! I've been kinda looking into it !!
Records...tapes...McDonalds coupons...real horror movies...calling the movie theater OR checking the newspaper for times! Plastic Mask...hot costumes. Halloween...life in general in the 80s and 90s was bomb! McDonald's used to be awesome too!
I remember my Frankenstein costume was NEON green, pink, orange, and yellow. It used to have the plastic costume folded up in the box with the mask peeking through the plastic window. I used to wait all October to see that package on our diningroom table when I got home from school. Then your parents would argue with you that you couldn't wear it until Halloween. I used to love it when the neighbors on my block would come out just to see what every kid was wearing. Thanks for the memoryJessicaXhtx
@@Stephanie-lp5tm In our house (in the 80s) we bought our Halloween costumes on Columbus Day--as that was the last school holiday before Halloween. It became an unofficial tradition ☺️ We were allowed to try on our costumes just ONCE before Halloween, right after we got them home...just to see how they looked. There was an essential flaw in this system: I was a fickle and indecisive kid😂 Since costume shopping was confined to one day, if I couldn't figure out what I wanted before Columbus Day, I was kinda screwed. Invariably, I'd wind up picking something almost at random--because I felt I HAD TO 🥺 This would leave me with a costume I was at best indifferent about. This was a serious problem for preteen me: Halloween was the most important day of my year, trumping even Christmas or my birthday. A costume I was unenthusiastic about simply would not do. So I would pester my parents until they let me get one I liked...once I figured out what I really wanted ☺️ It usually worked--but I must have been an amazing pain in the ass every October 😂
So make it good for them. Manifest what you want in this life. Get other people on your level. Get excited and spread that spirit! We can reconnect our communities and make things fun again.
I feel the Conservatives are against these kind of fun stuff. I can imagine them clutching their pearls and complaining "how vulgar" these commercials are.
The low resolution, of the TV signal (recordings), really adds to the nostalgia. Remember bitd, when TV was no where close to HD, or 4K, or whatever? Seeing the advertisement for “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, in the signal resolution I grew up with, really takes me back!
Love this! I was born in '82 and these remind me of when we had Halloween parties at school and did nothing the whole day but have fun. Not today! I am so glad i graduated before school became less about being a kid and more about hurrying up to become an adult and get into massive amounts of school loan debt. The Disney Halloween Treat shows also were by far the best. God it sucks being an adult!
1983 kid here, before cell phones & the madness of social media! But Halloween has changed not for the better though. I miss Halloween in the late 80s & 90s!
I KNOW I LOVED HALLOWEEN WHEN I WAS A KID IN 1982 I WENT TO A GREAT PARTY AND I GOT CANDY AND CHOCOLATES I HATE BEING A ADULT AS WELL 🤣😂🤐😬😮😱🖤💜🧔♂🧔🧛♂🧛♀🐈⬛🐀🐿🦇🦇🦉🦉🕷🕸🕸🍟🍕🍔🍿🧈🧂🍫🍬🥧🏚🏚🎃🎃🎃
Through the 70s and early 80s it was good. After that in the mid 80s, that's when it changed some. The 90s were good. Late 70s I would take a pillow case cover for trick & treating, and the entire cover would be filled with candy.
All holidays are overcommercialized today. Its about how much money Corporate America can make. Even these nonsensical "National _____Day" non-holidays.
so did ours & we had Halloween Carnivals, not no damn fall festival , I remember in the 90's the church I went to had Fall festivals , cause they didn't celebrate Halloween , they were afraid they might have fun
I LOVED my elementary Halloween carnival! Go trick r treating at every classroom and in the library they had the scholastic book fair and it was full of spooky and Halloween books and it was my favorite! As a spooky kid it was the best time ever! I saved up to buy all the Halloween stuff lol.
i loved being a kid in the 80s! kids ran the streets on halloween....hardly a parent in sight...every neightbor trying to out do eachother with their sugary offerings....lights on every porch telling kids to come and get it!..finding the houses withh full size candy bars and feeling like you struck gold! plastic masks and tinsil wigs....those were the days :)
A lot of these haven't changed very much and you would likely have a similar experience today aside from the running across the streets and no parents thing. Though I must admit Halloween was much more heavily advertised in the 70's and 80's than in the 90's onward.
Thank media sensationalism and fear-mongering for that. I went trick-or-treating with other kids alone and nothing wicked ever happened to us. We just used common sense and everything checked out.
Do you recall the fun of trick or treat at night with pumpkins on porches with real candles. Good candy too. With lots of sugar. Halloween parties at school . Miss them times. Check out the old elementary safety videos. From when they were on. 16mm film in class. Oh it was a time. Peanuts great pumpkin.
Me too! I trick or treated until I was 18 (as a teenager I simply wore Scream costumes and the like to cover me so I just looked like a tall middle schooler), but I still dress up every year.
@@mindyschocolate I’m 15 and my mom thinks I’m starting to get too old to trick or treat but I honestly say screw that because I still trick or treat every year
@@Neville60001 My mom was constantly scaring me with stories about child predators and escaped convicts in what is probably one of the safest neighborhoods in the country. I used to walk across my neighborhood to my elementary school’s playground without even thinking about getting kidnapped but I scared my mother every time I did that, so eventually I just settled with swinging in my backyard all day. We could have easily went trick or treating without parental supervision but my mother always had to watch the candy we were given.
@@westonmeyer3110, it had (and _has_ ) had a lot to do with it (in particular Christian fundamentalism and so-called Christian 'sects' [actually _cults_ ] like the Jehovah's Witness [I call them the 'Jehovah's _Wit_ less]) who spread bullshit about how bad Halloween is, and how (to them) 'real' Christians don't celebrate Halloween due to it being 'Satanic'.
I don't know if it's just me but I feel these commercials from back then have SOO much creativity and personality. 😍 Now days nobody puts the amount of effort as these.
Such Nostalgia, use to dress up, love going trick or treating, watching horror movies, Svengoolie on the TV, tons of candy. Going to the Pumpkin farm or picking apples. Working at a hauntedhouse .Coupons for McDonald's treats, going to Fright Fest... Good memories.
There was so much to do for Halloween back then. I grew up in a small village in Ohio. The who Township decorated for Halloween, we had a parade on the town square.
I've been in nothing but memory lane since I found this today! I miss original commercials, they actually had a team that came up with these commercials. Now everything is either cartoons or CGI commercials, no originality. My mom always had to work on Halloween so we'd go with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. We knew she had to work because she paid all the bills on her own! I never miss "Trick or Treating" with my kids! The cool part is that my Mom comes with us to see her Grandkids Trick or Treat and she always apologizes for not being there, but I let her know that she held our house together all on her own! She is an amazing Mother!
You can still celebrate Halloween as an adult. Decorate! Watch scary movies & "Hocus Pocus" too! Make a Halloween cake! And of course, wear a costume on the 31st! 🎃
@@Stephanie-lp5tm That's why I have been thinking of creating my own cartoons (hand drawn or at the very least a hand drawn feel.) I don't want to get into specifics (other than that I am a single mom) but your comment meant a lot to me. Both your mom and I are doing a job that isn't meant for just one person. My daughter says she doesn't want kids (she's only 11 so fair enough haha) but I respect her decisions no matter what. Even if I don't agree with her 100%, nothing will stop me from loving her...NOTHING.
Agreed. There's way too much technology nowadays. Nobody cares about anyone else except themselves and everyone has their nose buried in their iPhones or tablets checking Facebook or Twitter or whatever. The fun has gone out of life. I just saw IT Chapter 2 the other day and the flashbacks to the young kids in the 80s was so comforting to see and so nostalgic. The 70s and 80s were so good! So much better than today.
So true. Many parents don't let kids trick or treat because they're paranoid. Yet they give them cell phones/internet where they can see adult material and talk to strangers anytime. Makes no sense at all. Seems to be by design though. The technology masters want to destroy Childhood innocence.
Yep. I remember a lot of these commercials and their jingles. Good memories. My parents and their friends made our place into a haunted house every year with mechanical creatures and dry ice, sound tracks, thunder, lightning, the whole shpeel. There was always a big line out the door to go through it. We were even in a big article in the newspaper.
I watch this video all the time. It takes me to a special place in time that will always be near and dear to me. 80’s and 90’s Halloween seasons were the best. Thanks for curating this and posting it.
Reminds me of my dad dressing up as a black crow and handing out huge bags of candy. He did this in remembrance of my Mom whose birthday was on halloween.
Omg I remember the coupons to get free treats at Mcdonald and all the fast food joints and even the safety Halloween bags sooo fun !!!! Halloween had so much soul back then !!!!!
Is it just me or did older tv and commercials seem to have more culture then it does now? I watch modern tv and it just seems bland and boring in comparison.
Sure, if by culture, you mean "corny." It just seems more engaging, because the commercials seem so oldfashioned and alien in comparison to modern ads. But 40 years from now, the new generation will be saying, "zOmG 2020 HaD sO mUcH mAwR cULTuRe!!" 🤪
So, I just looked up the most popular costumes in 1972. I chose that year because it was the year I was born and guess what the most popular selling mask was, Richard Nixon. Among the most popular costumes were Charles Bronson's character from The Godfather and Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. When I was 5, in 1977, I wanted to be Reggie Jackson and other friends wanted to be other celebrities. Sorry, but there's a huge difference between your memories and what actually happened.
Life was so good back then.. I didht see it at the time tho & always wished I was born in the late 50’s so I could experience the 60’s. Back in the 80’s we’d hear about the 60’s a lot & I really envied the hippies. I remember thinking the 60’s was worlds away from me, seemed like 150 years away but really I was so much closer to them than I thought
I look back at all these retro commercials with nostalgia and some sadness. It reminds me of those days when we had hope for our lives, our country, our loves ones. Unlike now where it feels like we are on the verge of collaps and our quality of life is deteriorating fast. We dont have to pretend to be frightened of evil spooks in an imaginary world, we are living that reality now.
I'm not sure if McDonald's still does this but I remember back in the 80s and maybe 90s, you got your Happy Meal in a plastic bucket to use for trick or treating. There was a pumpkin, ghost and something else
GOD! I miss being a kid in the 80's!!! Life was sooooo much cooler back then! When dirt tasted good 😜and curfew was when the street lights went on, and in order to find out what's on tv you had to have to buy a tv guide...the good old day's!
I remember that and the Dolly Madison commercials; last year it wasn't aired at all. There goes another Halloween 🎃 tradition. ABC is killing good old entertainment.
Pepsi Tate I have one of three theories for this; either, a) you're being sarcastic (which never translates well through text), b) you have some sort of loathing for Halloween, c) you've never experienced a real Halloween before, just a dull, unimaginative hell, or d) you live in an area where Halloween is celebrated in a badass way. I apologize if I came off as rude at all.
I feel honored to have been a kid of the late 70's and early 80's. Tree houses, Kool aid stands, bike riding, ten cent candy bars and always a dime in the payphone coin slot to pay for it. Truly a very magical and fun time to be a kid.
Change the time to the late60s early 70s and went through the same stuff amazing millions of kids from all backgrounds can like telepathy relate to the same experiences yet each kid has their own separate memories and mental space a beautiful thing ain't it.
the payphone never got my money being there were several ways of getting free calls on them and you did not have to break any laws unless you were calling long distance , a quarter on a string fixed that ,lol ! ps , if you wanted money from pay phones all you had to do was put a wad of paper up the coin return in a bunch of them then come back later and get plenty of free money ,lol !
Wow! I remember buying my Halloween custom from Woolworth. Mine was the six million dollar man col Steve Austin, my friend sandy was The Bonic woman.Seeing that Woolworth commercial brought that memory back.
I showed some of these to my son and when the "Children of the Corn" ad came up he said "I wanna see that! That looks cool!" I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight. Lol
Great upload! Takes me back to my childhood. Halloween in the 80s seemed much more fun and pure for kids. You actually got into the Halloween "spirit" back then. p.s. I miss Vincent Price what a legend.
Yep. I'm a mellenial but nowadays people are getting mad when older teens go trick or treating (16-19 range, people getting angry with kids even younger too. Hell, I'd rather them go out and have fun over doing drugs, getting in trouble, etc anyday) and less and less people are having fun anymore (I've noticed this myself as well). Everyone at any age should be able to have fun and trick or treat (as long as they have a costume and participate of course). People are forcing kids to grow up way too damn fast, it's a real shame honestly.
In Halloween 1984 I went trick or treating in the apartment complex behind the local university and there were so many kids, that some of the residents had set up scary displays and even converted the little shared patios into ad hoc haunted houses with spooky music and glow sticks. There was such a sense of community and everyone had fun, even the lonely cat lady that got drunk every day would have her window open blaring scary movies she binged watched on whatever TV station was playing them. It added to the atmosphere. There were no weirdos and no one to get offended and the biggest threat was cavities. Today I live in a similar apt complex and it's full of foreigners who some haven't even heard of Halloween, much less celebrate it. I can't even talk to most of them because they don't speak English. I'm glad I never had kids. There's no where for them to grow up. I love these commercials but they make me sad too.
Wow, this video was A LOT of fun! The 70s and 80s were a very special time. The TV spots for all of the great classic horror films sprinkled throughout was an especially nice touch. Good times!
In some ways it's bigger than it was. Target does different curated, limited edition collections of Halloween decorations every year. Nobody marketed Halloween to adults that way in the '80s!
Halloween is still a big deal in my heart and it will always be. I don't always have time to decorate, but I love it and remember the great times I had growing up as a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s and it rocked! my buddy's older brother would blast scary music from his bedroom stereo with the speakers in the shrubs outside and hide and scare us! so many stories I could tell you.....
i get tired of people saying live in the present i prefer to live in the past it makes me happy i want to be me . the seventies and eighties were awesome . right on baby boomers.
@Glitterbomb45 Baby Boomers 1946 to 1964, Generation X after that, me and my brother are baby boomers, 57 and 62 while my sister is Generation X 67, YUP!!! Halloween back than was great for kids and teenagers, movies, Sir Grave Ghastly,Creature Feature, Godzilla,Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Myers,50s Sci Fi, trick oh treating house to house up to Midnight, if someone still had their houselight on, Halloween Parties for teenagers, BOY!!! were the chicks sexy back than they sure knew how to dress sexy and tease us guys , remember meeting Elvira here in Detroit when she just became famous, standing next her while she was sitting down giving me her autograph , developed a ""'Rocket In My Pocket""", She was beyond Gorgeous and Sexy , her perfume smell was still on me when I got home, my parents asked me was I out fooling around with some Girl ! LOLOLOL
I know this is an old comment, but I believe the Halloween pendulum will swing back eventually. It's an ever evolving holiday, after all. Maybe this year of being so isolated from each other will make us want bigger celebrations when we can finally get together again.
My daughter is trying to bring it back. Her house is totally decorated like what we were used to seeing back in the day. Like a haunted house, large black lights, candles, big cob webs, etc. Some kids this year were amazed at her house. She actually said she's going to make a name for herself and get Halloween rolling again! 😉👍. I raised her right 🎃!
Oh me too, haven't watched that one yet though. Tonight football was on but earlier I was checking out an old Vincent Price special; acting out Poe stories live. Also, some of his "scary" LP's he put out were interesting; how to summon a ghost etc. Have a good one!
@rob yohn You don't say? I was around in the 80's and loved Halloween III since. Just because Michael Myers isn't in it doesn't make it a bad horror movie. It's actually one of my favorites.
It really stands out how most advertisers back then got in on the fun. From grocery stores to ice cream shops to discount stores to food companies. It made the holiday feel more special. Now most of these businesses don’t even bother advertising on TV anymore. Today you might see a couple of Halloween ads from Reese’s or M&Ms, sandwiched in between all of the prescription drug and personal injury lawyer ads.
People recorded tv shows back in the day including commercials. I guess they've been seeing how people like watching old commercials so they posted them
Also i remember somewhere that there's a site where you can look up old tv commercials and things like that. Guess some people saved those and made compilations
This makes me miss being a kid so much 😭I was so excited to grow up and now at almost 30 I understand why everyone said to enjoy being a kid while it lasts.
The school’s have taken the fun out of the way Halloween used to be for kids in school. Can’t even wear your costumes to school for the day. Then parents can’t send treats anymore-you have to be a “Room Mother” and no homemade treats, only store processed treats. The old days were better. WOW, isn’t it amazing on how us adults survived. We are all still alive and no one had allergies either.
Yep. I just graduated highschool this year and I remember no one was allowed to dress up on Halloween day during school hours every year. Even older kids aren't allowed to have any fun anymore, it's a real shame.
Actually kids had issues with allergies even then. However with the heavy use of GMO produced food more kids have them. It is to be expected when you cross breed things like peanuts with traits of wheat. You get bigger crops but now people can not eat bread or other baked items made from the product. Blame greed not schools, parents, or the times.
@Octavio Marín It is not fear mongering it is fact. Yes you can eat GMO grown foods but that does not mean they are safe. Science is still murky on the long term effects and some countries have out lawed them all together. Plus it makes perfect sense that someone who can not eat nuts would have issues with wheat grown using the same genes. Again not speculation these are facts. The use of GMO foods exploded in the 70s and so has the rise in food allergies in kids. But hey I am only a trained chef and working on my BA in food science. Not to mention all of the information out there. But you know best right? Be well lol
Probably part of the reason, yeah. I just feel like it isn't even just Halloween that's lost its "edge" so to speak. Christmas just doesn't seem to get any care put into it any more, either, Easter is just a thing people look forward to because of Good Friday closing schools the weekend of, Thanksgiving is only still celebrated because of the food part; Americans have somehow gotten so detached from our families and have such a hatred for them we've abandoned the core values of all our holidays in the process.
Liberalism happened. You can't put on a costume, hand out candy, decorate your yard, or go to a party without some knuckleheaded snowflake accusing you of an -ism. Liberals ruin EVERYTHING.

Watching these classic tv commercials is getting me into the Halloween spirit.
Same!! I do this every year for Halloween and Christmas
TheXtro101 same .. and it makes me just wish I was born in the 70s and 80s lol my mother was born in the 70s and my sister in the late 80s I was born in 96 and these commercials just make me feel idk ... just giggly and happy. Like wow , they were so much fun and today’s tv content is so bland
The only comment I've seen so far that isn't complaining about kids these days and/or bragging about how it was back then

Is anyone else wondering if that Freddy Krueger number still exists!!!
Try it!
I was contemplating actually calling it!
@Rose Tico's Lard Ass Face Hello, Suicide Hotline. I was contemplating killing myself, but would rather have Freddy kill myself in my sleep.
Sadly no !! Hardly any of the 900#'s work ! Just a few sex ones !! Wish there was a way to bring them back for at least Halloween time !! I've been kinda looking into it !!
They should bring the Freddy number back in an anniversary special for a couple of years
People would eat it up
Records...tapes...McDonalds coupons...real horror movies...calling the movie theater OR checking the newspaper for times! Plastic Mask...hot costumes. Halloween...life in general in the 80s and 90s was bomb! McDonald's used to be awesome too!
jessicaharris65. the bestest times...early seventies and eighties🦇
Now around Halloween Mcdonald's Only gives out lame ass pails
It became an unofficial tradition ☺️
We were allowed to try on our costumes just ONCE before Halloween, right after we got them home...just to see how they looked.
There was an essential flaw in this system: I was a fickle and indecisive kid😂
Since costume shopping was confined to one day, if I couldn't figure out what I wanted before Columbus Day, I was kinda screwed. Invariably, I'd wind up picking something almost at random--because I felt I HAD TO 🥺
This would leave me with a costume I was at best indifferent about. This was a serious problem for preteen me: Halloween was the most important day of my year, trumping even Christmas or my birthday. A costume I was unenthusiastic about simply would not do.
So I would pester my parents until they let me get one I liked...once I figured out what I really wanted ☺️
It usually worked--but I must have been an amazing pain in the ass every October 😂
@Uknown person from an another planet that is awesome! is it a department store that has them?
There was never a better time in history to be a kid then the 70's and 80's. Thanks for putting this together. Great memories!
These commercials are so cute and fun. Nowadays the only Halloween commercials you see are about Reese's cups or KitKats 🙄
Or a rare Halloween movie. 🎃👻🎈
lol yeah those reese's ads with the orange background and that annoying guy's narration/jokes
Yeah like that one with that one he tells you to turn off all your lights and not to answer the door. They been playing that since 2020.
I know, right.
Little did we know how good we had it back then. Is so different today I wish my kids could have grown up back then
Amen to all of that.. I really miss the late 70s, 80s and early 90s, but I miss the 80s most of all..
I was born in 65 and grew up in Huntington Beach California and the 70’s were the best
Yeah, back then Halloween was fun. Now it's not so much.
Anarchist86ed Yep
So make it good for them. Manifest what you want in this life. Get other people on your level. Get excited and spread that spirit! We can reconnect our communities and make things fun again.
I wish it was like this again.

I feel the Conservatives are against these kind of fun stuff. I can imagine them clutching their pearls and complaining "how vulgar" these commercials are.
@@rolandaustria7926 Nope, sweetie. It's the leftist communists with their PC culture and propaganda. For reals.

Aika Terine me to early 70s 80s🦇
The low resolution, of the TV signal (recordings), really adds to the nostalgia. Remember bitd, when TV was no where close to HD, or 4K, or whatever? Seeing the advertisement for “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, in the signal resolution I grew up with, really takes me back!
Please don't ever take these commercials down! This has become a staple of my Halloween season every single year. Thanks for this 😀

If I knew Paas was selling makeup kits, I wouldn't have soaked my head in a bucket of marked-down Easter egg dye for Halloween.
Patton Oswalt has to do a follow-up bit about PAAS. only about their Halloween makeup. :)
Omg

I taped Garfield's Halloween. Its still one of my favorite cartoons
Krissy Bloomquist OMG I did too, those VHS days ..lol

Love Halloween and Christmas Garfields
I have all the movies/tv specials they showed 👍🏻 Happy Halloween 🎃
That old man by the fire still creeps me out.
Halloween used to rock back in the day, I still remember 7-11 made their cola slurpees black during halloween and called it witches brew
I READ THAT AS "BITCHES BREW" AND I WAS SO FUCKING CONFUSED FOR A SECOND
Cola is always black.
it was jet black, cola is Brown and quite noticeably brown when drinking a Slurpee
Those sweat drenched masks you couldn't breathe thru but we didn't care...
@Disney Dork That's an excellent Miles Davis album. No, really--Google it.
I dont care what time of,year it is. I love these halloween commercials. They relax me

Halloween was about fun back then, nowadays many people are so uptight about it
Illumination70 *nowadays people on there phone instead of trick or treating *
Exactly. Back then it was fun.
Through the 70s and early 80s it was good. After that in the mid 80s, that's when it changed some. The 90s were good.
Late 70s I would take a pillow case cover for trick & treating, and the entire cover would be filled with candy.
Yea. And greedy with the candy too
Agreed! Everyone got into it when I was a kid!
The 90's was the last decade they did stuff like this, Halloween is a shell of its former self these days, same go's for Christmas.
Our neighborhood was usually decked with Halloween decor. The last few years, however, the autumnal spirit is just a dying flame.
All holidays are overcommercialized today. Its about how much money Corporate America can make. Even these nonsensical "National _____Day" non-holidays.
So true!!!!
What about Easter and Thanksgiving?
I do remember the 90s showing decent commercials and it was the LAST decade for innocence simpler times.
School actually had cool carnivals.. jeez
so did ours & we had Halloween Carnivals, not no damn fall festival , I remember in the 90's the church I went to had Fall festivals , cause they didn't celebrate Halloween , they were afraid they might have fun
@@bigwillietheb Nothing wrong with being a Christian. It sounds to me like you didn't want THEM to have fun.
I LOVED my elementary Halloween carnival! Go trick r treating at every classroom and in the library they had the scholastic book fair and it was full of spooky and Halloween books and it was my favorite! As a spooky kid it was the best time ever! I saved up to buy all the Halloween stuff lol.
Omg i completely forgot we had those (in the 90s) every Halloween we had one in elementary school.
Only the eastern kids do it anymore
i loved being a kid in the 80s! kids ran the streets on halloween....hardly a parent in sight...every neightbor trying to out do eachother with their sugary offerings....lights on every porch telling kids to come and get it!..finding the houses withh full size candy bars and feeling like you struck gold! plastic masks and tinsil wigs....those were the days :)
A lot of these haven't changed very much and you would likely have a similar experience today aside from the running across the streets and no parents thing. Though I must admit Halloween was much more heavily advertised in the 70's and 80's than in the 90's onward.
Omg the tinsel wigs were the best yaaas 😹
Trick-or-treating is a dying tradition and it makes me sad...
Blame the MSM, they scare people more than Halloween itself.
Its because people are putting needles and razor blades in their candy and handing it out. 😷🍬🍭💉
Thank media sensationalism and fear-mongering for that. I went trick-or-treating with other kids alone and nothing wicked ever happened to us. We just used common sense and everything checked out.
@@SakuraCrusader Very few incidents.
It's alive and well in Milwaukee. Even adults go trick or treating.
I keep waiting for the show to come back on.
I was born in the 1980 and grew up during those years and 90's. and Halloween was awesome back then.
Do you recall the fun of trick or treat at night with pumpkins on porches with real candles. Good candy too. With lots of sugar. Halloween parties at school . Miss them times.

@Frizzurd uhh sure
Holy crap! I remember some of these commercials. Miss the good old days.... adulting sucks!
It's never too late to be a child again.

It was fun growing up in the 70s and 80s! These Halloween commercials bring back a lot of fun memories!!😂
same here , going out trick or treating on Halloween night with my 2 sisters so we had 3 bags of candy & the candy would last until Christmas
Those were the best years to be a kid! Not like today, kids acting 10 times their age. Technology everywhere. No sense of fun. I miss the old days
Exactly. Technology has enslaved everybody. Millennial's live in gaming worlds now.
We all miss it!
Hay howloween
So true. Many parents don't let kids trick or treat because they're paranoid. Yet they give them cell phones/internet where they can see adult material and talk to strangers anytime. Makes no sense at all. Seems to be by design though. The technology masters want to destroy Childhood innocence.
Goddamn ! I'm so glad I grew up in the late 70s throughout the 80s.
Hell yea the best
Yep. I remember a lot of these commercials and their jingles. Good memories. When costumes weren't slutty or about the most popular celebrity and we had Halloween cartoons loved Halloween in the 80s

I have one of three theories for this; either, a) you're being sarcastic (which never translates well through text), b) you have some sort of loathing for Halloween, c) you've never experienced a real Halloween before, just a dull, unimaginative hell, or d) you live in an area where Halloween is celebrated in a badass way.

John Mendoza thank you! Yes I have good genes! Lol
Yup, Vincent is my fave horror actor. He actually died in late October, which I think was an appropriate send-off.
Funny how I can’t handle watching a 30 second ad but here I am.. watching a 40 minute ad😂

Oh me too, haven't watched that one yet though. Tonight football was on but earlier I was checking out an old Vincent Price special; acting out Poe stories live. Also, some of his "scary" LP's he put out were interesting; how to summon a ghost etc. Have a good one!
and the original "Halloween"!
It’s been a blast showing these to my teen daughter, pointing out what I actually used/ saw/ etc.
How in the hell does someone end up with these? I love it
People recorded tv shows back in the day including commercials. I guess they've been seeing how people like watching old commercials so they posted them
Also i remember somewhere that there's a site where you can look up old tv commercials and things like that. Guess some people saved those and made compilations
I’m getting spooky fever
I feel it creeping up on me as well.👻👻💀💀
same :)
Whoa spook!
Why am i nostalgic about this, i wasnt even an idea at this time wtf lol
Cuz it's fun even now
Same with me! I was born in the 2000's yet I get nostalgic for 80's stuff idk why!
I think its because commercials in the early 2000s has similar qualities and had uniqueness too. Commercials today dont have it as much
The scariest thing about these commercials is watching them and realizing how fast time has gone.
This makes me miss being a kid so much 😭I was so excited to grow up and now at almost 30 I understand why everyone said to enjoy being a kid while it lasts.
Halloween ain't what it was nice memories here
The school’s have taken the fun out of the way Halloween used to be for kids in school. Can’t even wear your costumes to school for the day. Then parents can’t send treats anymore-you have to be a “Room Mother” and no homemade treats, only store processed treats. The old days were better. WOW, isn’t it amazing on how us adults survived. We are all still alive and no one had allergies either.
Exactly.
Facts
@Octavio Marín It is not fear mongering it is fact. Yes you can eat GMO grown foods but that does not mean they are safe. Science is still murky on the long term effects and some countries have out lawed them all together. Plus it makes perfect sense that someone who can not eat nuts would have issues with wheat grown using the same genes. Again not speculation these are facts. The use of GMO foods exploded in the 70s and so has the rise in food allergies in kids. But hey I am only a trained chef and working on my BA in food science. Not to mention all of the information out there. But you know best right? Be well lol
Man, what happened to us, America
Kyle Flounder corporations and kids having kids self richiousnes and self entitlements and TRUMP
Kyle Flounder oh and cell phones
Probably part of the reason, yeah. I just feel like it isn't even just Halloween that's lost its "edge" so to speak. Christmas just doesn't seem to get any care put into it any more, either, Easter is just a thing people look forward to because of Good Friday closing schools the weekend of, Thanksgiving is only still celebrated because of the food part; Americans have somehow gotten so detached from our families and have such a hatred for them we've abandoned the core values of all our holidays in the process.
you're extremely dense
Liberalism happened. You can't put on a costume, hand out candy, decorate your yard, or go to a party without some knuckleheaded snowflake accusing you of an -ism. Liberals ruin EVERYTHING.
Man back in the day Halloween was such an awesome fun time. Now days its Nothing like it used to be.
It was great seeing all the commercials I grew up watching. The 70's and 80's were the best time era's to grow up in.
I was an early 80s baby, and I remember some of these!
Certainly a amazing feeling when Halloween is near. And these commercials are most definitely a great way to get more into the spirit.
🖤🧡🎃🍂
Passing out granola dipp bars this year for old times sake
This is a awesome tv commercial from the 70s and the 80s
