Looks like an old Sealine with Volvo Penta duo drive system, contra rotating props, meant to be good on fuel and does away with torque twist. The 205 engine would be entry level for sea going, but more than adequate for a lake. Basic condition looks extremely good due to its lake use. Dont leave the top up in the weather, store it and use a good quality tarpaulin which allows ventilation and avoids condensation. Your hood will be better for it. Cant wait to see you boys out in her!
I had the 1989 Southampton Boat Show boat. It’s a Sealine 218 Envoy. I should point out that you can have issues with the fuel tank that sits in a tray that fills with condensation. The alloy tank corrodes and fills the rear berth with fuel. The calorifyer can also have issues as little use is worse than a lot. The reason the boat has a new alternator is probably due to the failure at some point of the main water pump bearings seals that seize the alternator when water escapes . The boat appears to have shorepower which means you can run kettles and the immersion heater, and battery charger when connected to the marina power supply. The manifolds are essential to keep in good condition as corrosion can cause water to enter the rear cylinders and seize the engine. All these things happened to me during the ownership of mine in 10 years. Good luck with it boys, but just for your info you can pick them up from around 10 to 12 k for a well maintained example with good service history. The good thing with that boat is the fact it has been on the Lakes which are fresh water. Kept in the sea they corrode quite a lot, and it is over 35 years old. . Bob Voyage. Etc. etc..
I'd say those frames are fender racks, probably removed from the engine compartment to allow access to the the moror mounts. That's why there was room for you to actaully get in there.
This one had me grinning from ear to ear for the whole 30 minutes. Clean her up, check the engine and electronics, and go have some fun! Summertime's here!
Love this episode. The lads are like two kids at Christmas with new wellies. They're just running about clutching their tinkles! 😊😊 Here's wishing my favourite RUclipsrs the best of health to enjoy this craft. ❤
If anyone thought Chris was still a little camera shy....not any more. One of the best reactions I have ever seen to a surprise. Well done Rob. However, friends you might be but who is going to be the Captain? This is without doubt one of the best bargains i have ever witnessed. The age of the boat is irrelevant when it is in this condition. Looking forward to the content over many months on this one. Only one thing left to get now, but will it be a plane or a helicopter??? Cheers, Bob
I live in Stoke, yeh I know someone has too….. but given the motor racing name connection and the photo in the galley I’ve a sneaky suspicion about who the previous owner was. I suspect the photo is of the owner, who used to race single seaters amongst other things a few years back, and if that’s the case then there’s a nice connection to the photo, the boat name and of course your motoring heritage. Nice to have more petrol heads as the new owners. Cracking video and the banter was epic, roll on the next video.
Never seen Chris so happy so a result there Rob and got to have a clean up video i bet it will look great , 2 mates like kids in a sweet shop i was grinning all the way through the video.
Very nice boat, im very happy for you , that engine is a GM 4.3L , starts life as a Vortec GM 90-degree V-6 block . Volvo Penta marinizes the engine for recreational boating , not sure of HP but i think maybe 200 HP. The suplus metal parts look like ladder extensions for swim deck ? fender holders ?, my brother in law had a very similar mercruiser engine ,love the boat ,love the show.
Im shocked you only paid £1500, thats a sealine 218, quality british boats, if that runs its worth around £8k with trailer, have a check of the hull make sure there is no osmosis blistering from the fresh water, even if there is its no big deal on a little boat like this, your more than capable of dealing with it, stow log and echo sounder, they were quality units and didnt come cheap, absolute bargain ha ha love it
A cracking bargain, was smiling all the way through this video, Chris like a kid in a sweetshop, looking forward to seeing you guys fixing this boat up, will make great content and just a little change from the cars
I was going to say best video ever!! But you guys do so many videos which are brilliant!! Best bit - the smiles on your faces. Great friendship, the stuff money can't buy. Priceless. Made me smile to! Brilliant.
Hey lads the manifolds which you referred to are called Headers. Every american V configuration has them and they are water cooled. Take them off and check them for corrosion as they fail. When this happens they allow sea water into the cylinders and then your into rebuild territory. If corroded bin them but replacements are around £1000.00 each. Use quality gaskets when replacing. Also check the blowers are running before you start her up, they remove fuel vapours from a confined area before you crank the engine, I've seen these blow!! My qualifications are 27yrs at sea RNLI and I dont want to be towing you lads back in 😂
Rob and Chris you really are living the dream. Work never feels like work when you enjoy what you are doing and you guys define that. To hear the excitement and pleasure in your voices really is a tonic. Never change guys. The boat is a peach I've done a lot of inland river trips this would be ideal for such use.
The energy you two have when you get something you really like is immense 😂 I think this will make a really good series. Off to eBay to look at boats now!!!
They are Fender Racks probably locate on the Bow somewhere. Fenders are what you put over the sides to stop you damaging the side of the boat when mored up. Stunned by how much you paid 😂 amazing, and you have to keep it..weekend fishing trips 👍👍👍👍
Rob, it is not a leg it is a Z-drive. No need to remove or lift the engine for the Z to come out, it might be that the impeller and main baring got changed. The engine looks like a Volvo Penta with twin props Z driver as the cover shows. Do a compression test and make sure the manifolds are ok and not leaking
I love how excited you both get looking round it. Some would just see a big pile of poo but you both look past what needs doing and see what it can be. Absolute bargain.
As it has a VHF radio installed you will need ships radio licence or the existing licence transfered into your name, its free to do online, you will also need an operator licence, i think the RYA one is about £65 and the course is quiet quick. Boats are a great toy in the summer, those 4.3s get through some juice 😅
We can all appreciate the previous owner you can tell he cared for it very well. Thanks to them for being great caretakers and for reaching out to Rob the greatest scavenger in the UK. I’m over the moon and I’m in North Carolina. Chris’s enthusiasm is worth 1500 quid 🎉 thanks for sharing
What an absolute joy this video has been to watch. Your enthusiasm and excitement is lovely to see. I can't wait to see you both sort her and sail in her. 👍
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Watched you both for a long time and to see you both put work aside for a new well deserved toy is inspiring. We all work and need to, but we also need our family's and live our dreams too. This is the perfect mechanism for that release and you both deserve it! Enjoy👌
Lovely purchase guys. Looking forward seeing it on the water. The most important piece of equipment is the cork on the keys....they will at least float when you drop hem in the water. Enjoy.
The 2 stainless ladder like pieces. Are there holes under the swim deck? If there are, could they be fitted under the swim deck for you to stand on to climb out of the water?
Great buy!!! It's the mechanical side that interests me the most though. Here's a thought, could you and Chris do a "how it all works" Video on the engine and transmission side of it and especially the water cooling side of things .For example; Is there some sort of water to water intercooler for the engine's coolant, or is the engine cooled simply by pumping fresh or salt water through it?
Hi, The stainless parts are fender racks from a different boat. They probably would have bolted to the pulpit rail on the bow. What an awesome find, you lucky, lucky b**********! You never said what make of boat it is, I'm guessing a '90s Sealine S23? Can't wait to see it on the water. Get it running first, then clean and re-antifoul. Don't forget the definition of a boat....A hole in the water where you pour your money!!!🤣
Lovely boat guys and what a bargain. For some reason when you was looking for the legs for chairs I thought have they looked in the pockets in the back of the seat?
Rob what a find well done mate. You and Chris are like two kids in a sweet shop. Chris cannot wait to go on it . Cannot wait to see you get it on the water.
Hi Chris , Rob.. Looks a Cracking good buy... the stainless bars , i beleive are for storing the cushions / seats in a shed, Ashore and save leaving them onboard. to get mouldy when the boat is not being used . When re fitting the Alpha leg check the gimble bearing at the back of the Engine where the drive shaft for the Alpha leg goes through.. ( If they have moved the engine ) to get the Leg off.. Normally there is a dummy shaft you can use to ensure the shaft is running true to engine and gimble bearing .. Keep up the good work .... Andy ..
That look like a bloody peach, so happy for you both. The amount of fun you're going have will be epic. Well done rob pat on the back, but I think Chris is going to nab that .😂
Near choked when you said 1500 Rob !! What an absolute bargain!! The smile on Chris’ face throughout this video was priceless. Got to be my favourite SRUK video to date 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Surely won't be long before Rob drives a battered old Challenger 2 tank into the yard. "Listen Chris, it has had one, the seller reckons it ran over a landmine in the Middle East but, to be honest, I don't think it's too bad. Let's get it on the ramp and have a look." Crack on guys.
The reactions are what makes this video! Fantastic purchase, and great shout with Nick from Aquaholic - another fantastic channel. Looking forward to the next update on this beauty.
Allways watch your channel and i have same boat. I have loads of parts ,manuals and family member worked for sealine boat. The sealine 218 is avgreat boat. Any advice just ask.
Top friends and top blokes. Looking forward to seeing more of this. It's very rare to have a mate like you both have and so nice to see. Well done lads, be safe and have fun
you know its Salvage rebuilds when Rob utters the immortal words "I got some spanners in me pocket, Chris" lol....... What a gorgeous boat. I can see lots of fun being had in her. Bessy regs- Kenny
Pure gold, like two kids in a sweet shop, and loved the video - an absolute 200% bargain there and you guys deserve it, take your time and this will be a gem
I’ve never seen two kids so happy playing on a boat. I’m surprised that you didn’t get Chris a sailors hat he would’ve loved that standing on that top of that boat. Well you definitely stole that one. Well done guys. The video made me laugh so much U2, running around like two crazy kids in the sweet shop
Give it a clean Rob , don't spend to much till you hear it run , do your home work on fitting the leg , there's a cable that runs up to the controls make sure it free or you will have to take the legg back off , check the rubber bellows were the drive shaft goes into they split , apart from that looks good , Properly 10 k plus when it's done , just needs a bit of tlc 👍👍
Hi guys. 1st off, what a steal. The V6 petrol motors are very thirsty but more reliable when looked after. I had a Fairline targa 33 foot for many years. Similar looks to your. The carriers are for Fenders. They usually fit to the front stainless guard rails. The legs for the seats may be stored in the lockers. I had so much fun sailing mine on the River Ouse near York. But mine cost 30 times the price of what you paid. It was on a marine mortgage. Eventually it had to go. It had twin Volvo penta 3.5 litre 200 hp motors. One of the legs went bad & cost over 10 grand to repair. That was the last straw for us. I hope you do keep it & have some great times on it. Just think nice evening sat on the back with a cold beer. fishing rods over the side . Nothing beats that. There is a electric scraper that helps removing the anti foul. You must remove it before recoating. Definately Royal blue. Oh & you will find a rope atatched to the chain at the motor end of the Anchor. That is so if you get in trouble with a stuck anchor you can cut the rope & let it go. The wooden leg & Parrot are optional. Regards. Steve.
@@adrianthorpe8005 If you mean too big for fenders (not too big to fit in the boat), there are fenders as big as a man... they come in all sizes. I should think the racks go in the engine room, with perhaps one on the inside of the engine hatch.
My smile😊watching this massive...like watching my grandkids on Xmas morning.. The enthusiasm/love you 2 have for cars, boats and maybe planes 😅😅😅 infectious.. Keep up the great work 👍
OK you guys come up trumps with that one. Look on the dive platform there are some screw holes behind the ladder try them with the small metal frame . The detail on this boat is well within your capabilities and as for the finish im sure rob will shine it like a diamond. Well done to both of you crack on I will have a water colour painting done of it by next weekend.
i think this might be my favourite video you's have done and i think its just because of the sheer look of joy on chris's face and can just see you two cruising on the lake on a nice day with a beer in hand enjoying some down time. literally cannot wait to see this progress.
The hoop on the back is a fender rack, the extras look a bit too big for that. Meanwhile, look at prices. You will get a few quid for the original lump and leg if it's running, you'll double the value of the boat if you re-engine it with a suitable diesel.
I've just watched 2 kids over joyed with a toy, you both will have great fun with. What comes out in your video's is what great friends you are, cherish it your having a exciting life together. 😎👍
Get it sorted and I'll be there! 😄
Please help these great guys 😊
PLEASE ❤
That would be amazing 🙄
Awesome Nick!
Would be good to see Nick on the channel
Fender storage , is what they are. Got a big smile on my face watching this , can't wait for further updates on the boat .
Looks like an old Sealine with Volvo Penta duo drive system, contra rotating props, meant to be good on fuel and does away with torque twist. Belly laughed when Rob said ' we're gonna have to try this' and Chris instantly replied ' we're keeping this' FANTASTIC. 🙂
One is a fender holder for the bow rail. The othe is a swim platform ladder that aattached under the swim platform.

Chris is a legend 😂
I know nothing about boats but I absolutely love the joy on Chris's face. And Rob can drive it with it being right hand drive 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No with him being shorter to chris
Boats are nightmare, I’ve got one , my neighbours got one he just spent $100k on new engines Minkota (electric anchor) there never cheap ..

There fender rails to sit your fenders in wile cruising and so your fenders are with in arms reach 👍
I wonder if there are any mounting points under the tail end for those racks to get swimmers onto the platform easily
I thought that, removed for lifting and towing, if it was an internally mounted rack then it'd be left in place 🤷🏼♂️

Talk about excitement smiles from cheek to cheek love it guys you could make a channel for sky. Again don't change a thing

That's a PCM engine as used on most competition ski boats. If you needs parts then midlands nautique have a heap load of experience with them.
I,m not a boat person, but you did so well with that, what a cracking trailer, you always come up smelling of roses
Did you do a boat vertical check on it 🤔😁
Thanks, Chris and Rob. After a crap few days, I smiled through the whole of this. Love it 👍🏼
The small bracket is a step that goes underneath the bathing platform, and the big bracket is fender storage rack
Rob what a find well done mate. You and Chris are like two kids in a sweet shop. Chris cannot wait to go on it . Cannot wait to see you get it on the water.
My favourite video. Watching 2 kids in a sweet shop.

Forget Netflix this is the best channel ever cant wait for the next video.
The joy that you two have with this boat is totally infectious! Great video and I can’t wait to see what you do with it! 👍🏼
That look like a bloody peach, so happy for you both. The amount of fun you're going have will be epic. Well done rob pat on the back, but I think Chris is going to nab that .😂
Really nice to see you both getting excited about the boat project you've got to film an an engine refurbishment and please please film the valeting
Made my day, seeing you boys enjoy an appsolute bargain. Dreams do come true!

This has to be your best buy yet. Trailer is worth £3500.00 minimum. Just needs tlc and Chris on the engine, deffo a keeper. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's a compressor fridge in there it's quite new too and they are around £500-£600 that was an absolute bargain
You know it's the summer when Rob buys something that floats!! Chris looks so happy it's hilarious.
They are fender racks stand upright with the bolt holes down.
I reckon the the stainless racks are for your fenders. They are the inflated bumpers you use for mooring up.
Lovely Jubbly, you guys are getting more eccentric as your getting older. Still a great find, but don't let it become an ornament.
I'm over the moon for you guys you can see how excited you both are. Looking forward to videos on this one
Top friends and top blokes. Looking forward to seeing more of this. It's very rare to have a mate like you both have and so nice to see. Well done lads, be safe and have fun
Salvage Rebuilds and Aquaholics collaboration, that would be fantastic.
There's a collab that I'd never imagined happening until today!
@johnwood4761 It needs to happen now.
I hope you guys keep this one for yourselves to enjoy. It’s too beautiful to sell and what a bargain. Best of luck with it.
If it came from Stoke On Trent was this a wining Bulls Eye star prise from the 80's darts show?🤣
They are for storing fenders chaps, usually have them on the front guard rails… they will likely clip or bolt over
That looks lovely, a bit too posh for my town Stoke-on-Trent. I’ve not seen that sat on the Cauldon Canal ……
There are four bolts on the top of the transom above the fold-down ladder that look about the right spacing for those fender racks. See 0.57.
Some people spend more than that on a new Telly! - incredible value I bet the trailer is worth at least 5k just on its own!!
You two old boys just like kids, never cease to amaze, love watching you two, can’t wait for part two!
My late dad always said that you have 2 happy days when you own a boat. The day you buy it and the day you sell it!
you know its Salvage rebuilds when Rob utters the immortal words "I got some spanners in me pocket, Chris" lol....... What a gorgeous boat. I can see lots of fun being had in her. Bessy regs- Kenny
Surely the chrome bits are ladder extensions for the swim deck. Look underneath guys.
💯
Pure gold, like two kids in a sweet shop, and loved the video - an absolute 200% bargain there and you guys deserve it, take your time and this will be a gem
What a bargain! You should call it "Maid Up" (you said it so many times 😁).
Oh my gosh, this made my day! Laughed so much, you two are like kids at Christmas :)
Old Chris was already half way up the Norfolk Broads at one point! 😂
I’ve never seen two kids so happy playing on a boat. I’m surprised that you didn’t get Chris a sailors hat he would’ve loved that standing on that top of that boat. Properly 10 k plus when it's done , just needs a bit of tlc 👍👍

Bargain! I think those metal frames are for holding your fenders. If you can get the leg sorted and engine running reliably, it has to be worth £15k
I thought that but there too big not sure
Agree
@@adrianthorpe8005 If you mean too big for fenders (not too big to fit in the boat), there are fenders as big as a man... they come in all sizes.

Do you think the seat legs might be in the side cupboard you couldn't open?
OK you guys come up trumps with that one. Look on the dive platform there are some screw holes behind the ladder try them with the small metal frame . The detail on this boat is well within your capabilities and as for the finish im sure rob will shine it like a diamond. Well done to both of you crack on
I will have a water colour painting done of it by next weekend.
The two happiest days of a person's life:
1. The day they buy a boat
2. The day they sell the boat
Perhaps those stainless toast racks go at the rear under the rear lip? Ladders and/or prop&trim safety protection?
thankyou gentlemen, this is going to be brilliant content,,👍👍
Happy lads. Great feel good video. A deserved present to yourselves for all of the hard work and superb videos you've given us. Chuffed for you.
A few days later...
ROB: "Watcha doin' with all that wood Chris?"
CHRIS: "Buildin' a dry dock boat shed aren't I"
😂😂😂
i think this might be my favourite video you's have done and i think its just because of the sheer look of joy on chris's face and can just see you two cruising on the lake on a nice day with a beer in hand enjoying some down time. literally cannot wait to see this progress.
Kids at Christmas
You know the bench legs are going to be in that locker
The hoop on the back is a fender rack, the extras look a bit too big for that. Meanwhile, look at prices. You will get a few quid for the original lump and leg if it's running, you'll double the value of the boat if you re-engine it with a suitable diesel.
I think the frames are for holding fenders.
I've just watched 2 kids over joyed with a toy, you both will have great fun with. What comes out in your video's is what great friends you are, cherish it your having a exciting life together. 😎👍
