The SeaSwirl is a under rated boat. These boats are highly sought after in Australia due to extremely robust transom, and sea worthy characteristics. The 1999 19' boat saved our lives when a storm on Kootenay Lake, British Columbia developed a massive wave formation of close spaced, perfect waves in a Sine patern in every direction. Literally I saw a wall of water heading towards us on a perfectly flat lake. Later learned it was a rare " Non Interface Patern" wave. At 9 feet from valley to crest. Other boaters in beaters and a few nicer bigger ones had to beach as occupants had to hump off boat to shore while not getting smacked by their boat, or pulled back in by waves..... craziest thing I've ever seen on the water of coastal and lakes, we thought we might all die that day.
The front Bimini top getting thrashed was epic! 😜 The back one needs to be rapped and propped up so it doesn’t rub on the engine cowling. But yep, the drone footage was awesome!
Wow, it's amazing how location changes the prices so much. Where I'm from that would be a $5000 boat all day long, probably needing more work and with dry-rotted trailer tires too. Well done and whatnot.
Where I live you won't get a boat with that dry-rotted-tire trailer for $5000. Well, okay, I overexxagerated, but seriously, you'd be out near to 2k for the trailer alone here. But laws here are, there's road tax and yearly tec inspection on trailers. It adds up.
Way to go guys on the deal of the century. Good to see that there are great deals out there for all of us to find, and that there are boats out there that we can revive. Just one note that I feel the boat may need based on your water trial. A good set of adjustable trim tabs. All you need to do is add a good set to even out the ride. Noticed a need for some support on the starboard side ride to even out the overall performance of the ride. Keep up the good work. Power to That Boat Guy!
This video inspired me to get a boat and restore it...so I started scouring boats for sale in my area...this week I found a 1984 Sea Ray in very nice condition but in need of some cleaning and a makeover for the princely sum of $500...I can't wait for some warmer weather to get to work on it...I will paint the interior cuddy cabin, power wash it, add LED lights and buff the gelcoat with the padXress system...I'm sure it will turn out fantastic...thanks guys for the inspiration!
TheWolfePit I didn’t think it was going to look very good when you started the splash. I was pretty surprised when you finished it! It looks very nice!
@@ThatBoatGuy I forgot what boat you bought where you repainted the deck with a roller. Can you recommend a strong gel coat for ny diamond patterned deck to repaint. Doesn't need to be anti skid as it already had the diamond pattern. One that is strong and can be used with a foam roller
Man I love these projects. Keep up the great content and let me know when you are ready to add a full-time employee. 20 years in corporate America is ENOUGH! :)
Love the videos man. I hope for more some day. Really enjoyable to watch and the style in which you restore the boats, and walk us through the process is perfect. Big love from Australia, guys. Cheers.
you never know what your buying. The inside could be grose and bout to drown out at sea like a different video we saw but he never showed that instead he merely spoke about it for seconds. Ever hear of a Lemon??????
Like what you guys are doing. I'll check out the pad thing. I live on the west coast northern cal. in the heart of the delta and I've bought an old 67' glasspar and am restoring. You are giving me ideas. I don't work as fast as you guys (79 yrs old) but if all goes well I'll be back in the water soon. Looking forward to your next video.
When you said you had a buddy coming over to paint it...then next clip was a dude with a rattle can spraying it, I was dying🤣🤣🤣 until I realized he was just priming it.
Great video! Incredible restoration. Loved how you’re flying through the channel at 22:42! Nothing better than being on the water when it’s smooth like that.
I know you make money on them, but thats a labor of love. Its evident as you speak, that you enjoy the restoration process and bringing things back to life. The end result looked amazing.
You got an incredible deal, it is also best to use some naval jelly and a brass brush or brass pads on stainless such as the sink, also use a powdered bleach such as comet as it contains a substance known as DE (diatomaceous earth) that is volcanic ash and it polishes stainless instead of scratching it.
Bay Pines boat ramp for sure! And then the S curves. Ppl that know that ramp know the S turns. I have literally launched 1000 plus boats there. My Dad owned the service department for Thunder Marine in the 90’s into the early 2000’s. Lots of great memories at that ramp. Also launched a few offshore race boats there too. Love your passion
Very nice! Well done! Greatings from Greece, i am close to do the same thing in a greek cabin boat of 1990 but i have second thought because of the broken engine...
This is awesome. The transformation from start to finish shows the work put into it. The paint job ya'll did to the forward cabin was right on target IMO. Did you put this boat up for sale? Subscribed
You need a bead of bathroom sealant around that sink counter top to stop spills from spilling down the back of the cabinet; & it'll make it look much nicer. 😀👍
after you polished the gel coat invest in sparbright liquid wax for fiberglass boats it is used to protect the high dollar paint on the boats follow instructions it will keep the gloss forever so long as you follow the instructions i've used it for years on my boats and the on my fiberglass camper top for my truck
Excellent work. Only upgrades I would do is throw on a Yamaha 4 stroke, put in new wiring and upgrade the radio equipment but this is a solid base for whoever buys this boat from you.
Nice boat, i like the picasso cabin looks good lol. Maybe better put the top down, if your going faster... What does a water seporator look like?(need one)
She's beautiful. Very nice refresh and spatter cabin paint really pops. Maybe the hull in the color matched green would really standout. That black must be that antifouling paint?
Wow man. Looks great... makes me want to go out and find an old one to restore. Love to see something that old in such good condition. Thanks for sharing.... I subbed.
Nice buff job. The only thing that looked cheap about that boat was thee fabric cover blowing in the wind, if it had some sort of leather case to keep it from blowing in the back would have looked complete. Nice job.
Imo I would use a 2 part polyurethane would be more expensive but is more durable and will last much longer. Since it is trailerable and being stored on land a bottom shelf bottom paint would probably be ok. Its best to use 2 coats with 2 different colors on the bottom so its easier to determine when the first coat has worn off and time to recoat.
I really enjoy your videos primarily because I appreciate your business model and how you’re able to assess the boats real value based on your skill set to restore it for a profit. If I lived in Florida I’d be looking to buy a boat from you. Keep it up and good luck.
👍Looks terrific. Got yourself a fun small bought. You splurge on giving so much detail to the out motor that I just don’t understand why you decided to do the paint splatters in the cabin (but hey to each their own…I guess that’s just a personal decoration type thing). 😂The most important thing is it floats & runs really well. 💝
Great job but one thing I personally would have done was to add some of that aqua color to the cushions in the cabin to help brake up the white a little more. Besides that great job.
the seats get chewed up like that on boats from birds pecking away at them. i had to redo the seats on my old boat from the same problem. a bird lands on the railing and sees a bug or a fishing weight or whatever on the seat, then destroys the seat trying to get it. i saw them do the same thing to my neighbor's boat like a week later.

That paint splash is really cool!
It came out looking really good
TheWolfePit I didn’t think it was going to look very good when you started the splash. I was pretty surprised when you finished it! It looks very nice!

The tandem axle aluminum trailer alone, as is, was worth more than $1100.00
Indeed. In my area that combo could easily be around 5-7k without any work done to it.
Based on how many boats you’ve worked on these do not seem to be in short supply, Where are you getting these, or are you advertising for them?
That might be an abt brand. Great stuff. Extruded aluminum ibeam frame.
