  • Challenge has been live for 2 days, and I have been the most productive that I have ever felt. I wonder if this is just because it is something new? Or if this might be something I stick with for an extended period of time.
We will see in 30 days!
    Thanks again for watching,
    Scott Schroeder
My current challenge is running a mile in under 6 minutes, I am not an athlete btw.

Thank you for the visual breakdown of the hours! It really made me kind of mad about how much time I waste. Especially when considering that after sleeping and working, there is precious little left in the day.

Even when filming it I felt the same way. I couldn't believe how much time I was wasting just using my phone, when in the moment it doesn't seem like a lot of time, but over the course of a day it is mind boggling.

I like the flip phone better because they are smaller, more rugged, no case required, and cheaper.

I have a Pixel 6a currently with GraphenOS which comes with a few apps and even the browser can be deleted. Its almost a blank canvas in which to build stuff you need from, in my case the camera, music and navigation are important items that might require another device to carry.

I have an old Pixel in the drawer which can make calls and text, even the camera software is removed. For me it was worth to decide what it is I needed and junk the rest within a device I already have.

I’m 20 years old, after i grew up more and opened my eyes more to the world, i really wish i was born in the time before phones really existed.

I wrestle with this idea often. It’s hard for me to come to a conclusion one way or the other, because of the knowledge the internet affords everyone.

I turned my iPhone into a dumb phone two days ago. I went from averaging anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day of screen time to, in two days, averaging just over 30 minutes per day of screen time.

I see it more as a tool much like everything else in our lives, when it comes to how technology increasingly surrounds our lives and how we can better use what we can't get more of, time.
I believe that as we get older, we start to realize how much time has passed and if we're really using our time effectively to do the things we really want to do and for some, it means reducing screen time to focus on other things or using it in a way to better ourselves, like using a smart watch to track our health or using RUclips as a way to better educate ourselves outside of school/work.
I already see some people who start becoming more aware of how insidious some big tech companies are, with how they use our data to their advantage in profiting off of user data, so methods like this (switching to a flip phone) can make you less of a data piggy bank and that increases this awareness that we might've never thought much about until we start hearing news about it.

As ideal as the flip phone sounds, i have to say it’s not for me. I admit I spend lots of time on my smartphone (more than I would like) but I’m learning to use it sensibly.
Why couldn’t I use a flip phone? Because I use my smartphone for literally everything: maps, Uber, period tracker, e books, podcasts, good camera, FaceTime with my friends and family… My phone is my idea of minimalism in order to avoid carrying more stuff. Everything is on it.

I agree, I am finding myself more and more wishing that I had my smartphone on me, but not having that itch to reach for my smartphone has been really nice!

I agree and disagree with the time thing.
Life is gray, there are a lot of other things people can’t help that take up time.

I don't totally disagree, but I know for me personally, I spend far too much time on my smart phone
