In this video, I answer a viewer submitted question: How to optimize audio files in Logic Pro to reduce the overall file size of the project. This is different than consolidating or cleaning up your Logic Projects. Enjoy!

Very cool! Will have to test if the optimization happens across project alternatives.

Thanx a lot. Used to have this feature in Cubase and always missed it in Logic not knowing that it is already there.

Is it possible to save a project as a template without any assets?

Which type of project is smarter: folder or a package

I personally like to work with Folders on my Mac - let's me easily copy/paste to make different mix versions of a project within a folder. But if you are sharing the project with a collaborator, I find the project Package is better.

This doesn't work at all for me, tried unfreezing tracks too. After Optimising, I don't get the solid blue boxes showing in the inspector on the right, ie, I still see a load of files that are half blue, with the anchor somewhere in the middle etc. It's doing something as I saves a 100MB maybe on a project of about 4GB

This method will only work with large audio files, and longer audio recordings that have a large amount of the recordings trimmed out. Three things you can check/try: (1) you might just be using the vast majority of audio in your project. 4GB is not uncommon for a Logic project with a lot of audio. And also that audio information might be wrapped up in samples, sampler instruments, and apple sound library content in your project, depending on what you chose to include when you "Save As" for the first time. (2) If you DO have a bunch of sound library content in your project, try doing a "Save As" to save a new copy of your project, and make sure that only "Audio Files" are included at the bottom of the Save As screen. (3) You can also try doing a "Clean Up" instead as I mentioned in the video. File > Project Management > Cleanup.

@ Cheers for the reply, I did a Clean up too on old, finished projects, help save a bit too. Thanks for the tips!
