@1:20 - Extra tip, if you hover your mouse over the fade / slowdown curve, you can click and change the shape of the curve (by dragging right and left).
"If I want to automate this, it would put that..." So good, Seids!! ALL of the tips are super useful, and I'm a long-time Logic user. Thanks so much for your tips videos!
That was awesomely interesting and quick. Neither of waste each others' time and I learned more than in most of those super boring long videos where they talk about their dog and their zits. Thanks!
Wow! You are a jewel, Seids. You just solved problems I didn’t know I had, and a few I did. Bummer it’s too late to go to my studio and experiment…but there’s always tomorrow.
Everytime you put a video like this, there's always at least one setting I didn't know existed. This time it's the automation thing. The time I wasted looking for the right parameter ! Thank you so much !
Love the speed up/slow down feature - never saw that! Can you time-stamp the sections of your video? I would refer back to it (ie, watch it more than once)
This is a fantastic video. I've worked a zillion hours for years in logic and didn't know several of these. The slow down speed up is magic. Thank you- happily subscribed to the channel!
Thank you - I've heard pro producers talking about having to bounce midi just to hear it properly at the playhead, wow, I totally learned important aspects here!
If you turn latch or write on, all you have to do is touch anything you want to animate, and it automatically begins building a list. Now when you go to the automation track, it’s all there. Then change write, latch, touch, to read and you are good. There is a tiny animation icon, press it on press it off. Don’t forget the brush tool. When you use the brush, it will only select the proper midi notes of whatever key or chords you have selected and you can select the word notes and every midi note will say what note it is. I also love to save instrument settings as templates, with all effects in the order you put them in. Which comes in handy because you can title them the name of your song in case you really loved that instrument settings, now you can recall that exact setting.
Thanks for the video! Another setting I like to change when working with MIDI is the "drag" option above the timeline: I set it to "overlap" so if I move something around it doesn't automatically trim the other part of they overlap
AMAZING Seids! I’m pretty sure I have what I need w Logic BUT you solve some of the mysteries! And fast. That Auto select thing has been bugging me but in reverse for months!! U r awesome sis. Thx. JPMusic 🙏🏽
amazing as ever... I always love your tips.. the one about playing midi from the middle is life changing.. I do lots of very very ambient long overlapping drones and it's a total pain not being able to hear them without starting fresh each time.. thank you thank you thank you
learned a couple of things, thank you! But I wanted to tell you about a setting on the Mac keyboard that drove me crazy until i figured out how to fix it. They’ve got the “lock screen”button right above the delete button. So I would go to delete something while working and accidentally lock my screen - so incredibly annoying! Then the solution dawned on me. I went into the global settings and switched the functions of the lock screen key (upper right of the keyboard) with the escape key (upper left of the keyboard). And now, if I accidentally hit the (newly assigned) “escape key” that sits directly above my Delete button, nothing happens. It’s so much better! And my lock screen button is safely sequestered away at the upper left hand side of my keyboard, where it has a much smaller chance of being accidentally pressed.
GREAT VIDEO!!! Just a useful request: to have the timestamps on the video to come back to what you need! or in the description also would do. Thanks Seids!!
Amazing video. Thanx! Do you know how to add a new instrument with NO effect sends on it? Just a plain instrument channel with an output. Thanx again Thomas 🙂
Thanks for sharing... great video. All super helpful things. I think that the scissors are kind of redundant to the marquee as you can double click with the marquee tool and it cuts the track too... faster and more useful. however, the assign color thing is SUPER useful :)
@@dannymolns3573It depends on which genre. I'd say Ableton has a very _slight_ edge when it comes to producing electronic music just simply for it's built in time and pitch algorithms. Ableton sounds extremely clean when heavily speeding up, slowing down or manipulating a sample -- something that Logic is just every so slightly more "artifacty" and less intuitive at. Ableton is also way better for live and on the fly performances. However, Logic is the best "jack of all trades" DAW by far.
good tips.. I had a few already implemented and a couple that I've tried in the past but didn't keep.. and several that are completely new to me.. in all cases I really appreciate all the info you share.. thanks!
This is fantastic. Only thing I don't find useful, is to have the midi track play in the middle, because it considers the attack of the midi to wherever you hit play, and if your sound is, say, a guitar loop, or a synth that evolves, then it starts from that place, instead of playing what it would play in that section. I think it's just better to bounce in place if you want to have it play from wherever.
Wow! i'm in! Thanx! Edit: while i'm here... could you help? lets say i have cut 10 vocal phrases in 10 sections on one track. i would like to space them equally by a certain time... is there a quick way to do so? Just asking... Thanx
That click tip is great even though I have a control surface that lets me enable or disable it by pressing a button… now I need to figure out how to map that button to some other useful function.
Being a long time Logic user (since before it was even called Logic, back on the Atari) I found most of these by trial and error over the years. However, I didn't know about that automation one, I'll be putting that to use right away, thank you. This will save a lot of people from struggling before they discover these. I just want to add a comment on your last tip. There is a long time issue when starting a project before bar 1. It's going back over many, many Logic versions so I don't think that it will be addressed anytime soon. What I usually do if, say, I want to add a pickup bar at the start of a project is select all the regions - Command + A - and move them 1 bar to the right. It can be a pita at times as your project now starts at bar 2 or 3 instead of 1 but it causes less hassle in the long run. Love the tips, keep up the great work.
As mentioned regarding your final tip, it can cause issues with your project,. One issue in particular is that it basically breaks the Chord track. I had to bang my head against the desk a few times before learning about the bug and realizing I wasn't just having a dumbass moment. I agree that the practical solution is to simply move the beginning of the project down a few bars to avoid the frustration. Thanks for the tips. Keep up all the great work.
Hey! I follow you on Insta and now I've subscribed to your YT as well. Super helpful tips, and that too a bunch of them without the faff.. and this is when I've been a Logic user for decades! Thank you.. very helpful.

every time i watch a new SEIDS video i'm inspired to read logic pro's entire user manual front to back 😂
Lol
❤❤❤❤❤
Yes - i’ve been using logic since the c-lab days and I still get a lot out of SEIDS’ educational offerings.
Yer the only one. The rest of us will just watch her very informative and instructional help vids. Great work @Seids_
😂. The whole thing twice huh?
This is quite possibly THE most useful video I’ve watched on RUclips in the past two years. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
yay!! I am glad you like it!!!
You have just super sized my workflow, saving me so much time and so many clicks. Bless your generous soul, bless you very much.

As a late adopter, I am just getting into all this - your video is soooo well done - easy, clear and concise. Thank you.

These are the best Logic workflow tips I have seen in ages. These are so useful! Thank you.
Glad you like them! 😍
I have SO much to learn! If I just could stay in your studio, for years! Greetings from norway
How to make Logic behave more like Cubase. Was looking for this for a while - thank you! 🙏

Thank you!! Never occurred to me it might even BE possible for the midi stuff to play in the middle of the chord.. That is so effing fabulous!.
Always providing great content.. I had noooo clue about the "auto select automation parameters in read mode"... Thank you!
you certainly helped this ole dog learn new tricks!
AMAZING Seids! I’m pretty sure I have what I need w Logic BUT you solve some of the mysteries! And fast. That Auto select thing has been bugging me but in reverse for months!! U r awesome sis. Thx. JPMusic 🙏🏽
the take folder one is actually sooooo goated, thank you sm for making this vid !!
very helpful as usual, was using fl for a few years but i’m back to logic for the drum machine designer mainly. crazy how powerful logic is/has become
amazing as ever... I always love your tips.. the one about playing midi from the middle is life changing.. I do lots of very very ambient long overlapping drones and it's a total pain not being able to hear them without starting fresh each time.. thank you thank you thank you
Best logic prop channel on all of RUclips !!

I think this is my favorite set of tips thank you.
oh wow, my dirty mind just completely misread "tips" 🤦♂
If I press the Keys G R E A and T on my Keyboard, it shows the word that describes your tips for me. Keep on posting. :)
Didn’t know about the slow down and speed up for fades. Awesome! Thanks!
Great stuff. As a long time Logic composer stuck in my methods I've missed many updated features that are great!
I bought your e book- you are great at teaching- do you feel Logic at times can be buggy in small ways? Like lag times when doing things- etc?
GREAT VIDEO!!!
Just a useful request: to have the timestamps on the video to come back to what you need! or in the description also would do.
Thanks Seids!!
My weekend just got better. Thanks fam 🤘❤️
The automation tip, game changer for me. How did I not know that 😮 thank you.
THANKS THAT WAS VERY HELPFUL I WILL BE USING ALL THAT YOU SHARED
Great shortcuts as usual!!
Amazing video. Thanx! Do you know how to add a new instrument with NO effect sends on it? Just a plain instrument channel with an output.
Thanx again
Thomas 🙂
Handy tips. I think almost all of them were relevant to my workflow, too! Thanks, Seids!
Yay!!!
Thanks for sharing... great video. All super helpful things.

Super cool and easy to use. Thank you
Wow! The autoselect is great. I usually would go to "touch" mode then select what I wanted, then switch back to read mode.
It's a fun one for sure!!
Seids! These are wildly helpful tips!! I feel like many of these should be Logic's default for new users so thank you for sharing!
Logic is yet again the best daw for vocalists or mix/mastering imo
nd producing
@@itsTRBLE *cough* maschine 😂😂

Why not producing @@j-station

Holy shit you just changed my life with that MIDI play one 🤯
Thank you so much for the tips, I am finally getting back into music and this helps.
Very nice, thanks. Btw Mix / Autoselect Automation Parameter in Read Mode also works with third party plugins like Fabfilter. Now that's a time saver!

The Apple mouse also has right-click Functionality, System Preferences/Mouse turn on secondary click Secondary Click, set to "Click on right side"
Thank you for this, very helpful ❤
Thanks Sheds 🎶Just got Logic Pro 11✅ this was VERY helpful🎉🎉
That speed up, slow down feature under the fade tool is awesome! Is that part of the latest updates or has it been there for years?
Bloody legendary. Thank you.
Brilliant as always Seids ....Thankyou for sharing your knowledge ...in a fun way ...
3:31 This is a life-changing moment to all midi composers T^T
