    Great video but ive got a question.
    I have the exact same board, an i7 12700K, 2x8GB Corsair 3000MHz sticks and after enabling the XMP to 3000, it does change it, BUT, on the top left side of the bios (DRAM Status) the A2 and B2 DIMM Channels still show 2133. However, just above that (Information section) it shows 3000 and also on the right side of the screen (All this in the BIOS).
    In Windows, both the Task Manager and CPUID show the speed at 3000. Any idea why the BIOS shows 3000 in the Information area and on the right hand side, but 2133 next to the DIMM Channels DRAM Status area? Thanks

      There are 3 system fan connections, plus 2 fan connections dedicated for CPU cooling (which are traditionally also fan connections). There is also an additional connector for PUMP, which can also power a fan. So in total: 6 fans.

    Hello! Can you tell me, does your motherboard emit a squeak / whistle / whine in the VRM area (near the video card) under load? In simple words, coil whine. The whine is quite noticeable, it changes tone depending on the load, it is especially clearly noticeable when you start "heavy" games...

    • @miley6.915
      @miley6.915 Год назад

      Hello, i know you said that it was in the vrm area but if you have a harddrive it could absolut be that. But like you said it comes from the vrm and if you are overclocked with alot of voltage setup then its probably fine, if not overclocked i would say its fine too because the electric components are all the same but they are still made different. If the motherboard still works great and makes noises to this day then its fine

    I guess I have to read the manual lol. Doing a 12900k with DDR5. I waited until DDR5 dropped a touch and jumped on some. My build stagnated because of how expensive things are. Reusing an RTX 2070 from my current rig. GPU’s are too expensive.

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад

      DDR5 prices were really nuts some months and though they have come down a little, still somewhat expensive for even 32GB, which is why I opted to review the DDR4 versions.
      I know the feeling of re-using video cards, I'm still using a 980 TI for test rigs, as you may have noticed in this video. I am seeing prices coming down though, which is good news.

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  Год назад

      You definitely can use 4x chips that add up to the total GB you'd like and they will run in dual channel mode. However, whenever possible, using the higher capacity chips is preferred.
      I do have systems that use all 4 DIMM slots though.

    I ordered this same motherboard, but one of the rgb fans (at 7:52), had a bent pin, probablemente from shipping. Can these type of things be fix (not really gonna be using it) or should I send it back for replacement?

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  Год назад

      If the fan itself had a bent blade, that's definitely a big issue and you should have it replaced.
      If the motherboard fan pins have pins that are bent, you can possibly bend these back yourself using a little needle-nose or even your fingers. However, if it looks really bent or damaged, suggest you set up a replacement, since something else may have physically been damaged that hasn't been noticed yet.

    Microcenter has these in a bundle deal with purchase of 12th gen alder lakes 12600k and up. My local one only had the non wifi version of these available which I picked up along with a 12600k, couple things for people to note, make sure everything is in the box!!!, mine was missing an i/o shield which i didn't notice until later. Also with my 12600k I was getting constant freezing which required hard resets, after some searching found C states power setting enabled in the bios which after disabling has been stable over a week of operating non stop. Still have a lingering USB issue where xfer speed is limited to about 3-5 mb/sec. To be honest if microcenter didnt have this for 50 bucks as parts of a combo deal i wouldnt have bothered. Ive built Gigabyte systems for 20 years and never had any issues so im partial to them, my experience so far with this asus although stable currently I wouldnt buy another asus product.

      @Silent157  Год назад

      Sorry to hear about the experience. Did MC mention if any of these products from this bundle were previously returned or "open-box"? With an item missing and an odd BIOS change left, sounds like it was previously used before.
      I've personally enjoyed testing out recent ASUS boards, but my last unfortunate experience was back in the AMD AM3+ days. I'll be testing some new Ryzen b650 & x670 boards from ASUS soon, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for sharing the experience.

    Is bios update needed to clean install win11. I'm not sure how to update bios if it's a necessary step. My old mobo died but had a m.2 nvme with win10, and was unable to backup data before it died. Is there a way to retrieve that before installing win11.

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад +2

      Since the z690 chipset was introduced shortly after Windows 11 officially came out, no BIOS update is needed for support, but is recommended for other reasons.
      You can definitely recover the data on the m.2 drive by moving it over to another board that has access to a boot drive already and you can copy any files you need of it by using the m.2 as a secondary drive. It's not recommended to just install Windows 11 over the previous installation before having access to your files beforehand.
      Let me know if you need any suggestions in order to make this work.

I can still see a small gap in the middle of the ram and where its supposed to sit in the middle of the socket, I want to push harder, but i feel like I have to push as hard when I closed down the lever on the CPU, which felt like a lot of pressure

      I am mainly talking about the side that you cant see in the video, the part of the ram locking mechanism that isnt fixed (you can tilt it down) during installation. It seems like you would need to put it back in its original position? @silencetechandtravel

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад

      Both clip pieces usually if not, all of the time, close on their own when the memory chips are installed. In this board's case, only one side should clip down automatically when installed. If you're having trouble with yours, may want to be sure they are installed correctly, as the middle gap portion will give you that indication if it doesn't line up correctly with the slot itself. Are you using the DDR4 or DDR5 version of this board?
      The CPU cooler definitely does feel like a lot of pressure when it is locked down. Just double check to see your CPU is installed correctly beforehand, though you wouldn't be able to close down the metal brackets from the board if it was wrong.

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад

      Once you push down on the memory from above, you should hear the "click" sound from the side that isn't fixed. It shouldn't take much pressure at all, and if you're finding yourself using too much without any success, then the chip may be installed wrong, or you may have DDR4/DDR5 being installed on a different board it's made for.

    This may be a dumb question but im building my first pc and I dont know what screws to use to actually screw in the motherboard. It also doesn't come with any. Can somebody help me out

      Screws can be identified with the manual that comes with the case usually, and the MBD screws are the ones you want to use.

    Can you use three m.2 SSDs on this motherboard?

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад +1

      You definitely can, but the limit but also keep in mind the number of PCI lanes your particular processor has and if you may hit any bottle-necking or reduction in performance by having your video card and all M.2 slots on use. You also may see some of your SATA ports disabled as well. The manual mentions if this will happen and also which ports in particular would be disabled.

      @@Silent157 Oh damn. I will be running 12600kf on this mobo. I have planned to run 3x ssd m.2 +1hdd. Looking at the motherboard manual, all I can understand is that there is 16x PCIE CPU slot that GPU will utilize whole, then there's 4x CPU slot and two more m.2 (M.2_2 and M.2_3) that utilizes chipset's PCI lanes. That's how id reads for me at least. Following this logic, there shouldn't be any bottlenecking. Or am I missing something?
      Edit: or if it will bottleneck, is it possible to keep GPU untouched? I don't mind that much SSD's being bottlenecked. They were cheaper than Sata alternatives when i bought them anyway.

    Can I connect 4 graphics card in this to get 8 display out. Or can you recommend any other motherboard or graphics cards to get 8 display output

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад +1

      I don't see any reason why 4 cards wouldn't work, even if one card was PCI-E x1. You may be able to use video cards intended for workstation setups (like a Quadro 450 or better) that offer 4x DP slots, which will require less video cards being used. Once done, 8 monitor setups shouldn't be ab issue, and definitely have seen it done.

    • @Silent157
      @Silent157  2 года назад

      This motherboard does have built-in WIFI inside. You'll have to connect the external antenna to the rear of the motherboard, near where all the USB ports are, and then ensure that the WIFI option is activated within the BIOS, which by default it is. Then just install your driver within Windows, and you'll all set with WIFI!

      Some would recommend a more higher range motherboard for that CPU, due to the better options you may have, especially if overlocking it.
