On December 15th, FaZe benched Finn “Karrigan” Andersen.
While it was a heavy blow to Karrigan, for nearly every other team it was a prime opportunity. While Karrigan’s final months on FaZe were disappointing, his overall record as a leader firmly entrenched him as one of the best leaders in CSGO. In terms of leading international mixed lineups, no one has come close to his success.
So when FaZe benched Karrigan, a bidding war should have started between competing orgs to secure his services. Instead what little information we have reveals that none of the top teams looked to add Karrigan to their roster. It has been nine months since then and the results are in.
We can now look back and reflect on the choices of the various teams to skip out on the Karrigan lottery, and what that cost them...

Yep. They've probably got another 6 months secured because of all of the reshufflings. They got a great IGL and highly competent players. But they also have the chemistry of a core that's been together for several years, something no other team can really say they have at this point...

It’s more about how they utilise their skill. While all these players like Niko, rain, guardian olofmeister were insane due to their hard work and talent, Karrigan understood them and what they needed to be at their peak and he set them up in positions where they could get key frags and often compromised himself in doing so. These are the best types of igls and it is why happy dropped off as a igl. His lurking style wasn’t working and didn’t really give kennyS or apex or nbk the resources needed to perform good and was really selfish that way and didn’t seem to change. Kioshima then got sick of it and lost motivation in happy and so they decdided to kick him as a result.
they need to stop changing faze's roster, you need to give your players time to get used to each other, expecially if you see that much potential in the team

Yes, and they need to actually set some defined roles and then stand by their players. If you hire an IGL you need to let the guy lead, regardless of what your "aim star" thinks and says. The role of the IGL is to lead so people need to let him do his job. I don't really care if Niko agrees with his calls or whatever, Karrigan is miles better at tactics and leading than Niko ever was.

and imo, g2 biggest mistake is when they decided to benched nbk and apex because they should just bench bodyy and bring back ex6tenz solely for that igl role

Mousesports was 2nd place in the world on HLTV at the beginning of 2018, if I remember correctly. Hard to say that their current form is the best they've ever been, when they can't even make playoffs at the major. I like Karrigan, but he hasn't really improved Ropz (Who has been insane for years) or Woxic. Hard to say he's made a huge difference in that department

Eichel tattoo S1mple hasn’t been known for being toxic since 2015 where have you been? And Niko is nowhere near as good as S1mple in recent times.
Cost of missing good IGL is that Faze sucks balls all the time. They removed Karrigan and Adren, Neo was decent for a while but they of course also got rid of him, while he was doing better than stars like Olof and Guardian, who played shit. Rain is also very inconsistent. The problem is not IGL, but the rest of roster.

IGLs are so damn underrated... Especially the mind workery outside of the game. If there werent Glave and Zews in Astralis, they wouldnt nearly be as scary as they are right now. Also look at the Gambit Major win... Noone saw that coming, but Zeus got it. And when he was absent in Na Vi, Na Vi had one of the worst times ever. Thougth right now i guess its something else, cause bombl4 is beeing watched and trained by Zeus.
Thougth i still have to agree on your ranking. For me it would be:
Glave > Kerrigan > Zeus > Taz > GobB > Stanislaw > Steel > Fallen > Seangares > Nitr0 > Aleksib

you see... astralis become what they are now today since glaive took the igl role after they benched karrigan and the proof is that they won their first major back in 2017 and hell of domination in 2018 and early to mid 2019

@@m1dge250 because compare to glaive, karrigan is more active at pro scene than him and glaive is playing for underdog team at tier2 and tier3 tournament and they brought him into astralis in 2016 because they need an igl
@@s0meRand0m129 i would say that karrigan is the better IGL because he developed dupreeh, device and xyp9x to what they are now, whereas glaive didn't do as much building or developing as karrigan did but just organized the already talented lineup into what we are seeing today.
I'd have to say situation-wise, glaive has the better team and is better off than karrigan because the former just focuses more on tactics and plans and less on team development because his team is already good, not to mention there's zonic to help him out.
While Karrigan has to divide his focus on the team development and the making of tactics for games which is probably a factor as to why he is quite slow to adapt new strats as we've seen with his run with Astralis and Faze. Plus we have no idea how involved the coach is in terms of helping karrigan like zonic does with glaive.
Karrigan is the better IGL, while glaive has the better team. Not to say that glaive sucks but again situation-wise, glaive just took over and finished what karrigan already started and the only reason why he's the no. 1 IGL is because he has more major wins than karrigan. but in terms of substance, karrigan is not inferior to glaive.

In Game Leader calls the strats based on the information gained during the round. They have the final say in executing anything during a match.

Well, it may be the fact that the education there is one of the best in the world and esports is supported there, being included in the curriculum on many schools and is an extracurricular activity in virtually all of them.
Combined with the government support in building esport infrastructure along with CS being the most popular there, it's not a surprise that the Danes produces many top talents including IGLs despite having a population of only over 5 million
