Everyone is so mad at the 400z for some reason . It’s almost like they forget the 350z and 370z weren’t that fast either. Yet both of those cars are considered classics . A 20 year old 350z still collects a premium on the used market.
350 was pretty quick for its time I believe. 370 was decent. I don’t expect the 400 to be super quick or anything but it could be a LITTLE faster lol especially if it’s trying to compete with the Supra. But, what I will say is it just might be a tire issue mostly. Everyone complains about how trash they are. Hopefully Nissan starts building them with better tires
The power to weight in that Porsche is way better add the PDK and u can see the winner but I'd like to see the Z with actual launch control and better tires
The Z actually has a better power to weight ratio when you measure dyno results in similar conditions and the same dynos. But power to weight isn’t the only thing that matters. It makes sense to compare them, but would it make sense if one car has a 3 speed auto to a 10 speed auto with close ratios and instant shifts? That’s the perspective you should have, that there are many other variables to be considered
They suck! I had q50 red sport and felt like 300hp but Infiniti claims 400hp and transmission sucks too! Way too much turbo leg. You floor it and nothing happens for 5 seconds. Absolutely horrendous
This has been covered on this channel and every other review, the car is let down by mediocre tires. The Z should be comparable to Supra numbers. The Z makes Dodge Challengers look like they have AWD the way it struggles for traction
Nice win on the rolling race for the Z! I didn’t expect that. The launch control and the traction of the Boxster S are known to be amazing, so against the Z with less than ideal tires the result was a not a surprise. Maybe with a top shelf set of tires the Nissan would put up a fight. But from dig, I suspect the Porsche would win again, but not by so much gap.
Boxster s stock runs 12.3s Somehow my base boxster did a 12.3 as well. I guess mine was on low fuel, cold air temp, and smaller wheels, lighter unsprung mass
@@marvinenglish4547 They run low 12 s with the auto and a proper launch but the surface is properly not very good on this track they are using Warming up the tires and leaving it shift by itself will greatly help

You gotta quit using the paddles. You CANNOT do better than auto mode. Put it in manual to hold the gear, then switch it over once you floor it. That Z transmission shifts slower than a manual too, it's crazy.
@@SamCarLegion Honestly, I've never seen anyone ask for it. If it were me, I'd do my research and see that in 99% of cars you can't do better and stick to that. Give the car the best chance to win is my position. People paddle shifting just do it to feel cool. I use them playing around at times, but if I've got my dragy out trying to get good times, I'm not using them.

I know it's not a prepped drag strip and it's probably customer cars so you can't beat on them to much.. I just feel like the z would perform better if the rubber was melting off lol. I still don't get the point of drag races to determine which crosses the line first. Other than views and entertainment. Take out the reaction times and human error, run the cars separately using a timing device. Could provide real world factual data without another driver by using a $150 Dragy.

Press car my guy, he doesnt have the ability to swap out tires. Its real time commentary on poorly equipped RWD sports car. It played a major roll in holding the car back.
I love the twin turbo they put in the Z and the new styling, but I wish they kept the interior budget down. They don't need to keep it rachet like the previous gen, but an interior that is similar to the veloster N and ditch some of the tech so they can keep the price down

Maybe try warming up the tires like warm it up good until its fully heated and warm, then maybe you can do launch control! There's a reason they gave it launch control! People are hitting 4 flat. Also if its possible to get those michellin pilot sport 4s and see the difference

A bit bigger four cylinder at 2.5L Subaru has made 315 out of 2.5 for 20 years now (never increased it though). GM makes 325 out of 2.7L. Ford makes 350 out of 2.3L. Mercedes makes 415 out of 2.0 liters! Pretty impressive from Porsche, but not unheard of.

If you take the entire driving experience in consideration than yes, the Porsche is worth the cost difference. Now if you consider the mark up for the Z, the Porsche seems like a bargain.
Look at the video again. No grip from a dig, but on a roll where traction is not needed, it wins, head to head with mustang Gt and scat pack challengers and does keep pace with the supra. Zs never really been manufactured for 0-60. Have some fun and drift this around the track.

Facts porsche (like all german cars) underrate their power figures on paper to make their cars appear so much better than other cars that make the actual claim power figures or in some cases make less because of types of gas put in them. Especially nissans make less power than advertised without premium fuel. Porsche make 50hp more than claim in almost all models. Watch Carwow latest review of german top sedans where bmw,benz,porsche, audi competed the only car made its claim figures was the audi, with porsche panamera turbo s hybrid advertised as 700hp making 750hp 50hp more. There is also a dyno where the latest 911 gt2 rs rated at 700hp on paper in actual dyno test made 770hp crank that is 70hp more than porsche claims. Also those nurburgring times set were on race tyres not production tyres. Porsche been lying an cheating for years. Everyone knows there a protected brand. A german strategy underrate their power figures to appear more capable than the others. There should be a rule in the automotive world where if a manufacturer makes a certain it has to be proven on a dyno by actual claims. So that those manufacturers with great product wont get overshadowed by these manufacturers lying (cheating strategy) to fool an convince many their products are better. If you know about cars then you should understand the message. JDM forever, 90s pushed boundaries that today cannot be superceeded. Thank you.

As an owner of a Porsche 718 GTS and former owner of a 370z: the Porsche 718 is leaps and bounds better in every measurable way.
Same, I drive my 718 base now, but have a 986 S and 350z. Prefer both over my 350z and really only use it for drift days now

The Z won in the second roll race because they started in 3rd gear. The 718’s gearing is very long, and at 80 it would’ve been faster to start in 2nd.

A bit bigger four cylinder at 2.5L Subaru has made 315 out of 2.5 for 20 years now (never increased it though). GM makes 325 out of 2.7L. Ford makes 350 out of 2.3L. Mercedes makes 415 out of 2.0 liters! Pretty impressive from Porsche, but not unheard of.
It's really not - my stock engine daily 4cyl has 640hp on pump fuels. Newer engines are very strong.
The problem with the Z's launching is the crappy Bridgestone tires.
Nissan Japan at least fix the front end of the z with a split spoiler. Looks so much better now.

I use to be a z fan,but watching that z in every race changed my mind.the only car that z beat was the infinity,and that was from a roll.nissan drop the ball on this one if you ask me.400hp is not enough for the weight of that car,plus that z trans draggs.it has the same old transmission from to 2003 350
The Z didn't win that roll, watch the porsche in car footage, he must have been shifting around 5k rpm, dropped 2 gears in 4 seconds

If you take the entire driving experience in consideration than yes, the Porsche is worth the cost difference.
Now if you consider the mark up for the Z, the Porsche seems like a bargain.

The Cayman 718S is even faster than the Boxster because of the less weight from the convertible machinery.

New Z it is slow same as the 2016 q50 vr30. I thought that 9speed transmission was going to take the car to a whole new level like the supra.

It’s definitely the tires, off a roll they aren’t bad. These VR30 are pretty sold in the Q’s. FBO they keep up with my FBO B58 no problem.
Look at the video again. No grip from a dig, but on a roll where traction is not needed, it wins, head to head with mustang Gt and scat pack challengers and does keep pace with the supra. Zs never really been manufactured for 0-60. Have some fun and drift this around the track.

Porsche normally under rate their horsepower numbers and Nissan always over rate their horsepowe the Z probably only making 360 to 380hp max
Facts porsche (like all german cars) underrate their power figures on paper to make their cars appear so much better than other cars that make the actual claim power figures or in some cases make less because of types of gas put in them. Especially nissans make less power than advertised without premium fuel.
Porsche make 50hp more than claim in almost all models. Watch Carwow latest review of german top sedans where bmw,benz,porsche, audi competed the only car made its claim figures was the audi, with porsche panamera turbo s hybrid advertised as 700hp making 750hp 50hp more. There is also a dyno where the latest 911 gt2 rs rated at 700hp on paper in actual dyno test made 770hp crank that is 70hp more than porsche claims. Also those nurburgring times set were on race tyres not production tyres. Porsche been lying an cheating for years. Everyone knows there a protected brand. A german strategy underrate their power figures to appear more capable than the others. There should be a rule in the automotive world where if a manufacturer makes a certain it has to be proven on a dyno by actual claims. So that those manufacturers with great product wont get overshadowed by these manufacturers lying (cheating strategy) to fool an convince many their products are better.
