Word of caution Tim about your new hardware center. They're great as long as everyone puts the excess hardware pulled back where it came from. Once stuff gets intermingled, it gets aggravating.

10 years in heavy towing/recovery and we charged min 100 to start truck then it was 2.50 mile round trip and 125 per hour on seen for truck and 125 per hour for operator (for long term recovery)flat rate within county was 250.00, 300.00 if at night or side of interstate. Don't know how Tennessee is but in order to be put on any kind of rotation service calls for SHP you have to be bonded and operators have to be certified. I highly recommend getting some traffic cones and reflective clothing because all those bright flashing lights dont do you a bit of good if you cant be seen day or night. Oh need reflective strips on both sides of the truck and the rear. Sorry my friend but that truck is a long way from even thinking about being in service. She's a damn good looking truck but remember that truck cant do crap without a trained operator. Please be safe out there cause you have a big family to come home to thats still growing. Wish i wasnt disabled cause id already been over there burning the roads up for you. You are what we used to call old school keep up the good work. You guys are what trucking is truly about

Heck I come driver the old girl for yah. Used to drive a 379 Pete with Big Cam 400 with 15 speed pulling a refeer full of box beef - Norfolk, Nebraska to Chicago, IL downtown Cold Storage, reload turn around at Cold Storage and Chicago to Pittsburgh or Phili , PA etc 2 or 3 Day run out East and then get a turn around coming back home depends on shipper's and receiver's. Wake the lumpers up with jakes and straight pipes a block away from the Cold Storage in Chicago let know I coming in. Always got unloaded and reloaded fairly quickly. But I had a little secret about getting the better lumpers there.

However, if I could pay for a good service, I would. From a business standpoint I can’t see that truck, leaving the yard for 2 to 3 hours for nothing less than $600-$800. For the repair I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 for labor. I’m probably a little low but I think a reasonable person would expect to pay around $1500 plus materials for that.

Tim , my advice is don't worry about what other people charge. You know what your OTR trucks have to make per mile to survive and the Tow truck is no different. You set your rate and stick to it. Plus the hook and drop fee. And if you have to front tow it like that one and "have to remove the drive shaft" to tow it that's extra. And you know what shops charge for hourly rates to fix trucks I'm sure you have had trucks break on the road that you had to pay to get them fixed. So set ya rate and stick to it. So I guess in laymans terms buddy you know what your worth don't sell yourself and or your company short. No Ya Worth and Bill Accordingly. And just a FYI safety tip. When and if you drop a drive shaft be absolutely sure the brakes on that truck are released and there is no tension on that shaft before you pull out any cap bolts. I have heard of those shafts flying out and killing people. I actually had one of my friends get his head busted wide open because one flew out and hit him. Simply because he was in a hurry and didn't check to be sure there was no tension on it. And there was because he didn't release the brakes after hooking it and lifting it up. So be safe out there and keep on keeping on! And as another great youtuber says, "Sitting on your ass want get your project done!"

Gentry you always use .... Safety Chains around those Front Springs and Axles , then take them to the wrecker and secure them on it. Also when lifting always use big blocks under the front wheels then set the truck down on them down . This way you are safe going under the truck just in case .... >>> Your Under Lift hydraulics fails and drops down to the road., then you can go under it that's the safe way of doing Tow's.
( Just a few points I always see many doing also. )
