Eastern had one of the best liveries. Especially on an L-1011. That rear engine with the duct work flowing back and the paint job was just so beutiful.
Agreed! One my all-time favorite liveries. The turquoise/aqua band always conveyed a sense of the tropical, hinting at service to Miami, etc. The polished aluminum scheme is my favorite over the white.
Is this the last 767 operating with RR power? It’s a shame not many were built, because that was probably the most efficient and least maintenance engine option
I’m glad the Eastern name is still flying today, even if it’s in a different form and not the great airline it once was. It would have been cool if they had the “Hockey Stick Cheat” and continued onto the tail of this 767. Still one beautiful aircraft and livery. Thank you for sharing!
i love the ex-BA RR RB211 767s im curious as to why Eastern decided to buy a whopping total of 1. Its not like theres loads of the most rare engine variant hanging around for parts availability / ease of maintenance commonality either
1:30 Man this might be one of the last 767s still flying with the old-style passenger cabin. I rode on an Air Canada 767 in 2015 that had the same kind of interior. It looks so 80s.
AA had some late-90’s builds that still had this interior in the economy section. Boeing called the new interior “777 style” and it cost extra, and airlines could save by only getting the new interior in the business class cabin
Thanks so much for watching! Trust me...if it was the new livery, I wouldn't have wasted the gas to go there. This takes me straight back to my childhood.
@@RyanBomar oh absolutely. you got very lucky here.! i had the treat of standing next to helicopters at the Blade heliport in Manhattan yesterday, and it reeked of kerosene and adrenaline.! even had a US Army Blackhawk cameo.!!!
There back but it's not the same Eastern Airlines just a company that bought the old name and put it on some planes for charter work so don't get confused
Great video! I used to fly Eastern Airlines back in the later 80's from BDL - I often flew on their iconic 757's to DCA and Atlanta. Interesting that the 767 you filmed had RR Engines as did the original Eastern 757's so long ago. I luv seeing that classic Eastern livery (somewhat modified). I'm pretty sure the New England Patriots use Eastern 767's..
Man oh man!!! Great looking aircraft from back then. I use to see Eastern aircraft flying into JFK back in the 1970s. The had some beautiful L1011 aircraft as well.
same, it was soooo loud on takeoff!! RUclips & modern recording of the audio doesn’t even come close to the thunderous roar it made in real life. loved seeing it in the air from outside & one of best planes to be in when it was BA. anywhere seated front or back it was great!!
How about those mighty Rolls-Royce RB211-524H engines! And to think that RR actually built some new CF6’s until they realized that the wide chord fan blade (and later an improved HP system) would transform the classic 524 … no need to pursue that short lived arrangement with GE. Love the sound of those classic RB211’s and can’t wait to hear the UltraFan!
The RB211 is legendary, I remember flying on a Hawaiian L-1011 LAX-HNL as a kid, and seeing the 'RR' on the engine will always be emblazoned in my brain.
Livery looks fine except for the tail at 0:38. I wish that they made the same look like in the late 80-early 90s with the 767 title on it. Still, good to see old look once again.
Because she was ordered by British Airways, the whole patriotism thing steps in. Interestingly, the RB211 only gives this aircraft 120 minutes ETOPS vs 180 minutes on the CF6 powered model.
Did the flight crew set the fuel panel, or did they give you the weights and you set it? It looked a little more involved than a CRJ panel lol. Nice video!
The Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) was running. It's a small jet engine that is located on the ass end of the airplane. It powers up the cockpit, keeps the air conditioning running, interior lights on, etc
I hope people realize that indeed as watered down as the name is..it is still EASTERN AIRLINES!!..it went thru many rebirths but it is still their aquired intellectual property that keeps the name alive!!
We would ask for a plane with rolls royce engines if we could. They inspired confidence and with them you knew that the engine manufacturer was the best in the world for safety, reliability and i worked with some ex rolls royce precision engineers and a rolls royce apprentice has 5 years of intense high grade qualifications to pass and it is very difficult to get a job at RR.

I loved it on the 727 & L-1011, those really stood out for me.
To me, the l1011 with deltas old livery was perfect
I have to agree. When those L-1011 were brand new, Eastern's paint job was stunningly beautiful.
Agreed! One my all-time favorite liveries. The turquoise/aqua band always conveyed a sense of the tropical, hinting at service to Miami, etc. The polished aluminum scheme is my favorite over the white.
Ahhh, the classic sound of the RB211-524 series! Love it!
She sure does have that distinct sound. No earplugs for me while out there, I was soaking it all up.
Is this the last 767 operating with RR power? It’s a shame not many were built, because that was probably the most efficient and least maintenance engine option
So many exits! 8 large doors! United’s -300’s don’t have ANY mid-cabin doors, and just 1 overwing exit per side
I’m glad the Eastern name is still flying today, even if it’s in a different form and not the great airline it once was. It would have been cool if they had the “Hockey Stick Cheat” and continued onto the tail of this 767.
Still one beautiful aircraft and livery. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah, was very strange looking without the hockey stick or falcon logos. Worked my first 11 years there, then 31 at UPS.
Thanks for sharing! Ex BA then leased to Qantas I travelled on this very aircraft in the early 2000’s. Love the take off 🛫

So nice to see perhaps the last surviving 767 with RB211 engines 😢
this is fantastic, the classic livery tops it all off.!!!
Thanks so much for watching!

@@RyanBomar Yup, had an Eastern 757 poster on my wall as a kid when they first flew!
Used to fly eastern nice service ,good food , back in the days
Eastern was an amazing carrier, no doubt! This is an LLC using branding from the now defunct airline.
Eastern Airlines are back I'm so happy about it great amazing airlines ✈️🛫
Thanks for the awesome vid ! N703kw sits now at OAK north field. Great to see her up close.
Have always loved Eastern Airlines. Great 👍 video.
It's interesting that Eastern used RR RB211 powerplants on their 767; American always used GE engines on their 767 aircraft.

The original Eastern was amazing!
Interestingly this plane didn't even fly for original Eastern. It spent time with British Airways and Qantas
What an awesome video especially on the start up engines but also I missed those RB211 on the BA 747 and 767 back at London Heathrow

Love my Eastern Airlines ❤️
Just those colors make me cry! I worked for the airline for 31 years!😓
it even looks outdated. I'm assuming it's an old aircraft because it does look old.

fantastic camerawork!
Awesome video Ryan, but as others have mentioned the sound of those motors just a thing of beauty.....thanks much as always.

my favorite liveries,great video!
Another great video Ryan. So happy to see you out there again shooting awesome planes. Miss you and hope you are well.
Hey there, buddy! Thanks for checking out the video. I miss you as well, brother!
Awesome Video!! 👌 thank you for sharing

Wonderful !!
EASTERN AIRLINES WHERE YOU BEEN.
Parabéns ! Vídeo espetacular.
Thank you for watching, my friend!
I’m probably a little slow on the uptake but didn’t Eastern go out of business? How am I seeing what I’m seeing?
Good to see one of the ex Qantas 767s still carrying people.
Yeah, absolutely! She's a legend.
Beautiful video enjoyed it
Thanks for watching!
I've never seen a B767 with RR engines, here in the US. Interesting look!
Because she was ordered by British Airways, the whole patriotism thing steps in.
Interestingly, the RB211 only gives this aircraft 120 minutes ETOPS vs 180 minutes on the CF6 powered model.
ETOPS..... Engines turning or passengers screaming.
Daniel should use eye protection for something like fueling under the wing.
Wow! I would hate to foot the bill for all that fuel! Nice Job Ryan! Love it!
Hey there, Nora! Good to see you over here on RUclips.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, that fuel bill can't be cheap.
Brilliant video!
Thanks so much for stopping by my little ol' channel!
I truly appreciate the comment.
I was a skycap and F/A with the original Eastern based in SJU, MIA & FLL from 1974 to 1989
0:39 - too bad the hockey stick doesn't go up the tail anymore. It looks so solitary in all white instead.
Did the flight crew set the fuel panel, or did they give you the weights and you set it? It looked a little more involved than a CRJ panel lol. Nice video!
I was just the camera guy, I didn't notice who set the fuel panel.
Thanks for watching!
What the heck was it doing in Missoula? Charter, I assume...
Missoula Airport's FB page claimed that it was used as a football charter.
Ah, found it. The Montana Western Bulldogs.
No tail logo? Or eastern logo?
No first/business class??
How do you fly on Eastern Airlines?
10:48 that jet blast 😜
My tripod was standing next to me, suddenly it flips onto its side and slides about 25 feet away from me in dirt. It was intense!
I loved it!
Beautiful :D
Hey there, Pedro! Thanks so much for watching.
SINCE WHEN DID THEY COME BACK?!
Still? Flying RB211 engine Boeing 767
I know! That freaked me out too!
rb211 767s the best IMO. they have such a distinct sound its hard for AV/cameras to capture it on YT to the full fidelity. the roar…!
Why's the back of a plane so loud?
The Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) was running. It's a small jet engine that is located on the ass end of the airplane. It powers up the cockpit, keeps the air conditioning running, interior lights on, etc
Might sound stupid but I thought Eastern was defunct?
Bad ass video
Thanks, buddy!
Wish the current Eastern would put the logo on the tail.
Wait eastern still operates?
It's not the actual Eastern that I loved as a kid.
"Dynamic Airways obtained a license to use the Eastern intellectual property from Swift Air".

The first 767 I ever saw was sitting next to a 737 and the 737 looked like a toy plane by comparison that's how much bigger they are!
What’s the deal? That’s an Eastern airlines jet.
