In this episode, Roeper and Scott talk about their favorite films of 2007. Discussed films include: SuperBad, Once, Knocked Up, Into the Wild, Juno, Ratatouille, Michael Clayton and more.
Students, critics, and aficionados will be discussing There Will Be Blood generations from now, long after most of these other films have been forgotten.
I forgot how good '07 was.
Early 2000’s in general was an incredible time in film
2007 was a packed year for movies.
It was a good year, indeed.
So happy Once made the list. Such an underrated film with incredible music.
The scene at the beginning of Michael Clayton with Clooney, Denis O'Hare and Julie White is a masterclass in acting, as is the end scene.
I'd like to mention a few that didn't make their lists:
Sicko
Grindhouse
A Mighty Heart
Enchanted
Breach
Hot Fuzz
Waitress
28 Weeks Later
Bug
Rescue Dawn
Sunshine
Stardust
In the Valley of Elah
Assassination of Jesse James...
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
The Mist
Atonement
I vote for Enchanted and In the Valley of Elah
2007 was one of the best years for movies ever
I agree.
Amazing year for movies
@@65g4 👍 My favourite seasons of that year include the spring, the summer, the fall and the Christmas season. Still perfect like 2006
@@stefantomasi4036 2006 had great films too in fact the first decade of the new century all had great films
@@65g4 what was your fave season of that year? I mostly enjoyed the spring and summer movie releases of that year. From March - August. All great underrated flicks of that year.
My top 10 from 2007:
1. No Country for Old Men
2. There Will Be Blood
3. American Gangster
4. Ratatouille
5. Michael Clayton
6. Zodiac
7. 3:10 to Yuma
8. Hairspray
9. Waitress
10. Surf's Up
Great choices. I vote for Ratatouille and Hairspray. My childhood faves
That wasn't just a year for good films, but a great film for really ambitious films. Films that dared to be a little different, take some chances, and didn't only try to have mainstream appeal.
I just loved the slightly extended longer than usual ending theme for this particular show as it was great hearing it despite the balcony closing for the week 😇👏🎊💚
1999, 2007, 2019 are probably the best movie years of my life
Also 2008. More so for the blockbuster films
Hell of a year for movies
What an amazing year for movies!!
Watching this now is so depressing. Today’s movies are a total joke.
4 months 3 weeks and 2 days.
This Romanian movie can now be remade and set, legitimately,in America.
Jason Batemans character in Juno, is named Mark Loring. My fathers name is also Mark Loring.
I'm personally offended that Walk Hard wasn't on their lists lol 🤣
Such a great year for movies. But There Will Be Blood won it hands down for me that year.
I am always suspicious of such shows when there is absolutely no overlap of their lists. Kind of hard to believe. Seems as though the lists were made for TV... each of them would have 10 to talk about.
My top ten for 2007:
1. The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
2. No Country For Old Men
3. There Will Be Blood
4. American Gangster
5. Zodiac
6. The Bourne Ultimatum
7. Atonement
8. tie between Knocked Up and Superbad
9. Eastern Promises
10. Juno
#1 was fantastic. Another in a long line of movies showing that Casey is a far better actor than Ben.
Loved Jesse James.
Great episode!! Throw up Worst of 2007 too if ya have it! 😄
No country for old men still haa the most complicated and scary Antagonist in movie history i was legit scared of Chigur
Sorry Joker, Lecter, or even Bates
No country for old men. Hands down the best movie for me
It is the best movie from the Coen Brothers. Javier Bardem is the winner of great antagonists
Love ratatouille
So do I.
Glad Scott was not a permanent part of the show.
Why is that a good thing?
@@stefantomasi4036 He never had great showmanship like Richard had, or even his Scott's later co-host Michael Phillips. Scott is a great writer, but not that good on camera.
This whack ordering makes me miss Ebert even more. You know he would have There Will Be Blood and No Country higher.
I feel you, it’s unfortunate that Roger Ebert left summer of 2006.
Do you have any of the Robert Wilonsky episodes downloaded yet?
Superbad is the last gut-bustingly-hilarious R rated comedy. (Maybe the first hangover)
Anyone disagree or have a similarly hilarious film to recommend
It’s like The Hangover meshed with Accepted (2006) with Justin Long
I’d agree. It’s one of the last movies I actually went to the theater to watch also.
Bad Words with Jason Bateman made me laugh an obscene amount.
@@zachreacts5508Also, The Change Up 2011
Best film of the year was Into The Wild.
My fave best of the year segment. I liked this one with Scott and Roeper better than the 2006 one.
Micheal Clayton.... does anyone even remember this flick.
oh yeah. I've watched it at least 3-4 times. A truly great film.
@@scottwhitehead4467 George Clooney is a great actor. He has starred in many great movies but the only one that doesn’t stand out to me well is Out of Sight. It made Gigli look like LA Confidential.
Hell yeah. By any actor, someone studying great performances in film, someone interested in quality thrillers, fans of Clooney, fans of Swinton, plus everyone who was doing their best movies of the decade lists in 2010.
It's a masterclass in acting. And has one of the most terrifyingly realistic murders in cinema history. Criminally underrated and overlooked.

@@zacharysiple629you didn’t read their opening sentence correctly
@@threeminuteshate "My Top Ten All Time Favorite Movies (and the Movie Companies) is"
Either their favorite movies of all time are all 2006 movies, or she's doing a 2006 list for a 2007 video.
My Favorite and Best Flim of the year 2007 on my opinion
1. Ratatoullie
2. Enchanted
3. Surf's Up
4. Shrek 3 (Shrek The 3rd)
5. Cinderella 3
6. Alvin and the Chipmunks
7. The Simpson Movie
Why not just be yourself like the rest of us.
I bet he/ she regrets it now!!!
Lol😢😢😢
Didn't this show review Ghost Rider?
Wheres Roger Ebert
There will be blood is number 1 for me.
"Blood" is a very unpleasant movie.
It's funny that they say Juno gets better each time you see it, because I have the exact opposite experience. I went from loving it to loathing it. Once I got past the quirkiness and good filmmaking I realized I hated all those people and not in a good way.
I knew I was getting old when I thought Superbad and Knocked Up were incredibly stupid and not entertaining.
No wonder I barely watched any movies during this time frame. If this was the best, I'm glad I missed that year.
Spider-Man 3 is better than all these movies

8. Bug
9. Bridge to Terabithia
10.The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Both lists have just unforgivable omissions You could probably combine them into a decent enough list. Not putting There Will be Blood, No Country for Old Men, or Michael Clayton ON YOUR TOP 10 is a joke.
All of them were there, lol.
Roeper’s Best Movies Ranked = 73%

I honestly didn't enjoy much from 2007---weak year, IMO. Just nothing up my alley.
Into the Wild is terrible like most everything else Sean Penn has directed and written
