Thank you for putting this video together. They certainly got a few things right like Goodfellas, The Last Seduction, Hearts of Darkness and Fargo. However, it was odd that they had so much praise for the Cohen Brothers and somehow The Big Lebowski was not on either one of their top 10 lists for 1998. I noticed there weren't any John Hughes films on any of their lists. I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions from that. It seems sad to me.
My picks by year: 1979, Alien 1980, The Empire Strikes Back 1981, Raiders of the Lost Ark 1982, E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial 1983, Return of the Jedi 1984, Ghostbusters 1985, Back to the Future 1986, Aliens 1987, RoboCop 1988, Die Hard 1989, Batman 1990, Total Recall 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1992, Unforgiven 1993, Schindler’s List 1994, The Shawshank Redemption 1995, Apollo 13 1996, Independence Day 1997, Contact 1998, Saving Private Ryan
@ForceMaximus84 None of the movies you lust are about the female experience. Alien and Aliens are certainly not. Expand your horizons. There are more stories than about straight white males.
@@ForceMaximus84 Putting women in action movies and terminator is not the same as movies about women, their experiences, their points of view, etc. These are all very much male movies.
Starting to believe that Rick Harrison of PAWN STARS fame must've taken some cues from Siskel and Ebert's review shows. Try to rise above what being a pawnbroker is about, dispel people's assumptions about pawn shops and make his show riveting as hell!
And I'm sooo sorry, Roger and Gene, Dances With Wolves beat Goodfellas. 😂 They were both worthy of Best Picture. So let me play you the tiniest violin.
I don't care what these oversensitive knuckleheads said. Aliens was the best film of 1986. It's hard to believe that a Steven Seagal movie ends up on Siskels Top 10 lists but NOT ONE James Cameron movie. He really had it out for Cameron. Under Siege over Terminator 2?? WTH?
Thanks for putting that list together.
All I know is I miss these guys
I SAID FUCK YOUR COMMERCIALS RUclips

You need to see more movies.....maybe one about a woman???
@@kevinwilson3609 Alien and Aliens are, and many of these feature strong women. Try again.

Oh man. I have not even HEARD of most of these movies, let alone seen them.
80% of their picks are long forgotten. 😂

I loved watching their show but have to say I disagree with most of their pics and so does the test of time.
Deer hunter was 1978.

Oops.
You are supposed to count down from 10.
I bought a couple of these movies because of these guys, and I HATED THEM.
