The round headlight ones hold a special place in my heart - seeing them in all sorts of movies made an impression in younger me! Undoubtedly 08-10 is their best generation, then the design got softened (as usual...)
@@michaelhayward7572 surly the newer generations got improved. But its not worth the price (for me). because its just a fun bike. For traveling, winter rides and long distances my africa twin ist fine with all the technical developements. But for a fun bike which is ridden at summer, the basics are fine.
I think some of it must be recording distortion cause my 02 Daytona 955i doesn’t have a loud chatter at idle. Can’t just be from sound deadening from the fairing. Mine is a street drag contender that looks like a low speed canyon chaser. I already have enough crotch. So I just wanted a rocket. Only the 3 is too bulky. I’m used to 425 lb bikes, not 600-800 lb. bikes with 100+ cubic inch heavy mills. It’s hard to conceive of a silver faired triple as a sleeper, but what is it when I’ve already had guys on liter bikes tell me my 955i puts out 128 hp when a Matt Capri dyno sheet shows 170, about a 32% increase over popular but incorrect belief. But call it anything. I call it fun. And four four figures, not counting gear & insurance, all in for a sub 11 quarter. If you have the hooligan gene you will understand. Waiting to see if I still can pull off smooth clutchless up & down shifts. This so beats golf or shuffleboards. I have enough left in my original engine is to set up a second bike. Maybe a Speed trip with a Daytona tune. Yes, I know I am a bad man. I don’t care. Looking for sponsors if I can make a splash. Then maybe I’ll try some kind of fuel and/or forced air. I know my Nike has made me younger and stronger than I have in years. Retirement is insidious. It ages you if you don’t do something. I’m going racing. A lifelong dream. I finally can go for it. Grew up around competitive racers and racing teams. Now I have a chance to play street bike drag racer. And if I get all the pieces right, I can be in the hunt. Besides, I get to hoon without having to hire a lawyer. That will be novel lol. Hinckley triples, especially pre-EUR regs and gizmos will likely become/remain a new classic “proper British bike”. Have fun, hooligans. My first runs, to dial it in, will probably be against a cammed 18 Lowrider FXLRST. This channel has a lot of details I want to get back up to speed on.
Somehow It’s relaxing to watch
Iconic motorcycle.
My favourite being the 08-10 last of the round headlights.

@@johnmeyes9604 steel over problematic plastic fuel tank, better pillion subframe and the Brembos. 3 massive improvements over the 05-07 gen.

Any chance you could use a larger font for the details in future. Some of the more, ahem, mature owners may be struggling. 😉
Haha I sure will thanks for the feedback Alan !
I'd swear I'd buy one if those headlights were not so damn strange looking.
I have just realized how pretty this bike is...
