@@albertoj.mollinedo4116 Incoming! I’m returning to riding in retirement after having a very worked 600cc Norton Dominator in my youth. Studied everything motorcycle that has happened since. Commandos, bespoke built Commando, rejected UJMs for weak handling and super top speed setup. Rejected heavily electronic ride controls, trikes, blowers on a street drag bike etc. Found an 03 Speed triple single mechanic owner. Just missed it. Depressed I kept looking. Discovered Daytona 955i had 19 more ponies and two swing arms, saving 16 lbs. Then once more I knew God wanted me to have another quick street drag bike fairly cheap. Matt Capri cans and dyno tune for 15% power and torque increase across the full band. Right at 170. Stock quarter 11 flat. It’s a lock to run in the tens. Got it being set up now for next drag season. Priority now is backing up the Capri tune, complete service and checkout, probably new rubber, suspension setup correctly, & maybe new sprockets and chain. Thinking lightweight might get a couple of tenths more. Most riders who don’t know Triumph triples well think both early 2000s triples have 128 hp but the Daytona gets 147 stock and 170 in current tune. I’ve got four good strips within an hour or two of me. And I guess it’s a bucket list thing for me. Anybody try resprocketing Triumph triples for the quarter? Any luck? Odds are there is a quicker sprocket setup. If I get it right it could be a very stock looking not really fast looking older Daytona that might get close to 10.5. Don’t think I will see any HD street bikes ahead of me lol. Best part is my wife thinks I have matured since my youth since this time I will be doing the ton in a straight line on a closed course. I just want a slip this time. Stock trap speed is 128 mph. I think I can get close to 10.6 at 140 normally fueled and aspirated. Win lose or draw it could be a great summer. Triumph triples forever. Might try to convince the wife redundancy would be prudent lol. Besides, our son could ride the second. But that silver streak is mine, at least for as long as I still can do what it takes. But just finding the base I have for my build is mind boggling. I wish Norton hadn’t turned into such a mess. But I feel at home with Triumph. Got to go. Got my work cut out for me… Need a master painter. Taking recommendations for it and for a more streamlined tank.
With regards to the K75, it's nearly identical to the k100 and that also has a whine or whistle, so it's not the number of cylinders that make the noise you're on about. Also nearly every mass produce bike engine has a balancer shaft these days.
I was explaining the REASON why there was a balance shaft in the first place. People imply quite a lot out of that lol... like literally if people just watched the full video instead of jumping to conclusions the world would be a better place..
@@UrgetoRide @Urge to Ride I'll be honest I didn't watch the whole video as it seemed over produced, all the different clips from various different things was a bit much, but that's just my opinion. But you did state that the reason for the whistle is due to straight cut gears on the balancer shaft, the reason as to why there is a balancer shaft in the first place is irrelevant. As the title of your video is "this is why triples whine" this is incorrect. Please don't see someone correcting your misinformation as a negative thing, we all learn through our mistakes.

I have a Street triple R. A long time ago I used to have an NC30. One is an in-line 3, the other is a V4. One has a balancer shaft, the other doesn’t. Both have the exact same whistle.......
The V4 has straight cut gears driving the camshaft. A fantastic setup and one I wish to own one day (most other bikes have chain driven cams cause its cheap). Hope this helps buddy.

I have a street triple. Im pretty sure the sound is from the intake. I've heard it on 4cyl bikes too. The new mt10 even directs the sound from the airbox toward the rider purposefully. To make up for the lack of sound from the exhaust with the new euro 5 restrictions.
Half of that whistle on the clip of the GT car is electrical interference from the alternator. When your actually driving the car it doesnt whine half as much. Swap to a total loss system and the noise drops away. 😉
I certainly enjoyed this video. You do have ability to captive viewer with you articulate monologue. And I did knew why there is whine with mine MT-09, but your in depth explaining made much more sense. Big thumbs up from me. Well done Again.!!

Hmm.... So my Yamaha TZR250 has not only straight cut gears in the gearbox and on the primary drive but it also has a balance shaft that has straight cut gears. This does not make this same whistle. The Honda VFR400R (which has no balance shaft) with gear driven cams does make the noise but it also has an anti lash gear on the cam train which is a gear that is slightly off set if you were to remove it because it has the ability to move a few degrees and is held against the drive gear by being sprung loaded. This anti lash gear is the reason the VFR400 makes the noise as when you tune the engine or use if to go racing the whistle is no longer noticeable. Its not simply the straight cut gears as all of the bike engines are full of them and only a few bikes make this noise. The Triumph 657 has this anti lash gear on the balance shaft too... I think you can see a pattern.... Its not simply the gears its the anti lash mechanism that is making the noise and it could be used in different places on different engines for different reasons. So its NOT simply the straight cut gears or the fact it has a balance shaft. Other bikes have balance shafts like the new R1M but those do not have the anti lash gear and every other gear is straight cut too.. But that does not whistle. I would suggest you do a little more homework before you post as in your own video you show the balance shaft and it shows the anti lash gear.
Yamaha CP3 doesn't have an anti-backlash gear, and it whines. Watch the video it shows a specimen. If anything they lessen the noise as there's less back and forth chatter between the teeth thanks to the preload. Cheers, U2R.
@@UrgetoRide but putting an aftermarket exhaust on it and it seems to disappear... Where the Triumph and Honda VFR400R as well as RC30 and RC45 still have the whistle. Having ridden and raced I can tell you that the Honda loses its whistle when the lash gears are removed. The gear train is louder but not due to a whistle. Having been the guy who was responsible for the Yamaha R7 crank and having made 1000+ billet steel cranks for anything from WSBK to F1 I can tell you that the whistle is not specifically from the balance shaft straight cut gears. Having done work with the Triumph 675 WSS team that were 3 miles away and they removed the lash gear for the race bikes that whistle had all but gone.
Funny - all my bikes from the '70 had straight cut gears in the gearbox - non of them whined ?!? And you were just about to come close to one of the reasons why some straight cuts whine and whistles and others don't - but then your (limited) knowledge ran out :-/ , go learn something about transmissions and shapes of gears and then come back and correct your self !! I have driven Laverda 1000 (cyl.), BSA Rocket 3 (says itself doesn't it ?) and a mountain of engines with balance axles - and non of them whined because of the balancing axles and/or its drive (gears).
Bo, the BSA Rocket 3 had no balancer... and yes it did faintly whine, thats due to the straight cut gears driving the valvetrain, they're situated on the right side of the engine (assuming sat on the bike). Hope this helps.
@@UrgetoRide Sorry, no the Rocket 3/Trident didn't have a balancer, but as the Rocket3 engine is a pushrod machine there is not real good reason to use anything else than a gear for driving the camshaft's - right ;-). Interestingly enough I've owned both a K75S and a Street Triple. I'd say the K75S was perhaps even more pronounced because of its quiet exhaust system. The sound of both bikes was definitely very characterful and made both bikes even more enjoyable to ride and own. Thanks for your extremely informative video.
What complete drivel. This noise it not gear whine. ALL the primary drives I have played with were straight cut gears and they don't all make that noise.

@@UrgetoRide I came from matt's video but watched yours first to have my own opinion. If you we're not implying in the video that the whine came from straight cut tooths, then I think it should be reworked because that's what I understood from it. If that was what you were implying, as Bruce (and many others said) most gears in bikes are straight cut and that doesn't make most bikes whine and whistle. I don't know where this sound comes from but I don't think gears are the culprit here. I personnally think it's more of an harmonic frequency of the triples that's amplified by the airbox (and maybe the exhaust too) that engineers worked on to create that typical triumph triple whine.
Hey why all the swearing ? Just hold your hand up and say "sorry I made a mistake". Then we can put this behind us and move on. Your video was very entertaining so thanks for that.
Oh dear.. (palm/face slap). Plenty have similar arrangements but don't whistle in that way. The way a particular noise eminates from a particular engine can be engine case casting resonance, how that particular assembly is supported etc etc etc. Not simply because of straight cut gears.

If I was a designer, I wouldn't want to make a feature out of a whine like that, and very probably would play part of the decision as to whether to purchase the machine. Modern straight cut gears are not weaker. The diameter and number of teeth defines how many gears are in contact with one another. The curved profile of a modern straight cut gear design for high torque also allows multiple teeth to be in contact as well as the contact duration being longer. A longer contact time also increase friction just like a helical gear, for racing and applications where power are more important than efficiency a more triangular profile is used. Coupling this triangular profile with the minimum amount of oil and viscousity, the gears are noisier. Without the need for thrust bearings, a smaller casing can be used and a straight cut gear can be made wider for the same external housing dimensions.
Before the conclusion, I was going to say.... either the primary gear tying the crank to the input of the transmission, or the gear driving the counterbalance. Either way, "triple whine" isn't a triple whine, it's a "counterbalance whine". I've heard it on other engines that don't have 3 cylinders. In the auto world, the supercharger noise on some sportscars is something a lot of people like. Personally? It's gear noise and a set of helicals would shut that racket up.
same here loving that whistle sound but never seen anyone ever talked about it until this video I used to think it's coming out from these gear driven cam
I'm afraid some of his diehard fanbase are literally retarded. I'm not interested in youtube drama which the workshop clearly loves because he needs to pump out videos and make money off of you. I'm not. Do with that what you will..
I thought it was from the airbox/intake. I have a street triple, but I've heard the same noise on plenty of other bikes. Especially inline 4cyl. It is more pronounced on bikes with quiet exhaust. Like a cb or cbr 1000 with stock exhaust. On The new mt10, Yamaha says they have purposefully directed the airbox noise toward the rider. To make up for the lack of exhaust sound caused by the latest restrictions. Like euro 5 etc.
I have cute bike called Skygo Pony 100, it makes the same whistle from idle to rev, it just gets louder when you rev it, but it does'nt give me problems in my 2yrs of driving it, oils are cheched and when i got to my mechanic for a tune up, it didn't disappear, first time the mechanic heard it he thought it was some metal scrapping on the inside, i said when i first bought it, it sounded like that. What could be a potential problem?
Cars have a completely different building agenda, engine cases are stronger, gears are helical, and noises are engineered out to a minimum. The typical buyer of a 1.2 Fox would think the engine is broken if it started whining... VW wouldnt want that. Thanks for popping in matie
Tommo, as I said, VW engineered it out. The CB shaft on your Fox is helical, not straight cut. Picture ; i.ebayimg.com/images/g/RH8AAOSwt3teqAxH/s-l1600.jpg Hope this helps, and hope to see you again soon !
My Husqvarna 401 single cylinder does a similar whistle while engine braking. Is this a bad sign? The KTM mechanic didn't say anything about it when I brought it to the shop for inspection
Hard to tell but Im fairly sure singles usually have balancers so that could be the origin of the sound. If the mechanic ok'ed it then I wouldnt worry too much about it mate
I happen to have a street triple, and it's got nothing to do with the balance shaft. It's the exhaust system. And it only makes that noise with stock OEM exhaust. I've changed my end end can to a scorpion, and it no longer makes the whistle/whine noise you talk about. Explain that then.
Exhaust overpowers it. Fit a fat exhaust to a VFR and you can't hear its cam whine. Fit a fat exhaust to an XSR900, and you can't hear it CB whine. Its there you just can't pick it up
@@UrgetoRide your talking rubbish. Go and buy one and try it. Of the gears whined as much as you say, they would soon wear out. I think you should take up knitting instead as you obviously know nothing about engines.
@@petersmith9898 I have Peter. And the whole idea of gears is that they don't wear out, at least not as much as sprockets and chains for example where in most engine applications there needs to be a tensioner to keep things tight.
@@UrgetoRide Exhaust *causes* it. I've had three different cans on my Triples, stock, LeoVince and SPEngineering, both baffled and unbaffled. The whistle is only on the stock cans. There is no whistle on the others...it just isn't there.
In a related topic, why do the smaller triples sound different than the bigger triples? For example, when equipping an aftermarket exhaust to the new Triumph Trident or Street Triple, it creates one of the most intoxicating exhaust notes known to the motorcycle world. In contrast, when performing exhaust upgrades on a Triumph Tiger 900, although an improved sound, it sounds more like a grunty, Honda RC51 twin. Is that due to the new T-plane Crankshaft?
Yes, the T-plane engines use a different firing sequence. Rather than a smooth 1-3-2-1-3-2 firing at 240 degrees from each other, the T-plane fires 1-3-...2...1-3-...2
@@UrgetoRide sorry, but this is not the cause of the whistle. If it were, why don't we see it in any of the other engine types with the same balancer shaft / gearing set up? Almost every motorcycle engine type out there, 4 cylinders included, have examples with a balancer shaft with spur gears yet, no whistle? I would never claim to be an expert, but knowing that this same setup applies to more than just triples, to me at least, means this can't be the source of the whistle. Sorry.
@@TheBeanyi Highly suggest watching the whole video then, people tend to jump to conclusion, I understand - shape of teeth, tolerances between teeth, and if they have oil lubricate them or note will add or completely take away the noise they make.

Ok, I'm not someone who normally comments on channels other than in support if I like a video. It's normally short too, so excuse the length of this one. I subscribe to the workshop and many other bike channels, I subscribe to Matt's channel because I teach Mech Eng and have found his knowledge of engines and engineering in general interesting. From what I can see, there are many people out there that agree with your reasoning and many people who don't, I guess gear nomenclature is a complex subject. I will admit I am struggling to agree entirely with this as a "one size fits all" solution, but I don't think it is a million miles off the mark either. I do find dismissing the venturi effect in its entirety so hastily a little short sighted though. Matt did say he was speculating, and as I am sure you know, the complexity of Bernoulli's and Venturi's principles requires a lot more than a 10 minute video, so I would say speculating was sensible at that point, but still worth a mention by Matt, in my opinion. Back to the point, I am sure with such a topic you will continue to prompt much discussion! You are certainly getting the views, more than my channel, but then I am working on an old XJ600! This is quite possibly the longest comment I have ever left, but anybody who is passionate about Engineering can't help themselves. Good luck with the channel. ShedTorque.
Thank you for the comment ST and taking the time. Matt has built his channel on; 1/3 actually informative stuff, although badly executed - half his videos are him cursing about his markers not working.. 1/3 literally bashing other content creators because he's very insecure but it brings him views and gives his minions things to do 1/3 there not being a better alternative, and that's quickly changing. I say this as someone who liked and watched his informative stuff before his ego inflated beyond biblical proportions, think yeaaaars ago. I welcome disagreement, but only when well argumented. To attack a much smaller channel on the basis of 'he's wrong, here's a speculation to attack him with' screams to me of wanting attention without thinking of the repercussions of his actions. If he really WAS concerned about the whole deal (he, the only guardian of the truth as he says), he would've contacted me directly - maybe asked questions, collaborated on an experiment or something like that ;) Of course he didn't do any of that because he's an attention seeking psycho. Back to the topic in hand. I owned and ridden multiple triples, it is my favourite engine config and put my own money down to buy them. I know them extremely well and I've seen them being race tuned and prepped (Daytonas). I know exactly where the balancer is on my XSR900 and I can literally hear it with a stethoscope. I can categorically tell you it is none of this exhaust bullshit he's talking about, he's way out of his depth on this one because he was too much in a hurry to being offended by a smaller channel making a video. Love your stuff btw, good luck with the XJ6 ! Hopefully Matt won't send his deranged minions after your content too considering he thinks he's king of motorcycle content on youtube.
@@UrgetoRide I watch The Workshop for the engineering so I won't get into the politics of it, but I guess we are all entitled to an opinion. I totally understand what you are saying, I was suggesting the possibility of other additional variables, largely due to observations during venturi flowmeter testing, the unpredictable behaviour of gases at high reynolds numbers show strange and various phenomena. Anyway, I am boring myself. All the best with the channel though.
all my bikes have straight cut (or spur) gears on their balancer shafts and not one of them whines like a triple. think there's alot more to what makes the engine noise and the acoustics of engines than just one small element. Unequal manifold lengths will contribute as well as resonant frequencies with engine noise/exhaust length/diameter/pulsing/firing order. The list is very long. Its not as straight cut (pun intended) as you make out.
Watch the full video please. There are a lot of factors why some whine more than others, and some not at all - chief amongst which is lubrication. As for the rest of your comment, unequal manifold lengths do add a growl at full chat, but that is not the whine you hear at idle. Firing orders on most triple currently made is a simple 1-3-2, nothing special about it, trust me plus they're equal firing. But nice pun. Give me an example of these bikes you own if you wish - I'm interested ✌️
@@UrgetoRide I did watch the whole video, just rewatched incase anything was missed and I still stand by my point that the balancer shaft and straight cut gears aren't the one and only reason why triples whine and its a more complicated issue/phenomenon (not sure of the correct word) than can be covered in an approximate 7 minute video, though as a British biker it would be great if it was a secret kettle. Main bike at the moment is a lexmoto isca and if anyone was going to cut corners on lubrication to the balancer shaft on their bikes it would be a chinese manufacturer, and the only whine I get at idle is actually injector noise. Would be interesting to see a fuller, more in depth test of the spur gear idea. Running the same triple that whines at idle with and without a balance shaft to see the difference in whine/whistle and low to mid revs, though I can appreciate not many folks will be willing to put their bike through that

Great video dude, thanks so much for explaining it all! The whine and the bug eye headlights turned me off these bikes last time I was looking but I’m re-considering now after seeing I can swap the bug eyes for a single headlight, and the whine is somewhat necessary.
Like your style, very entertaining. Subbed, I hate the whistle. I had a 1998 Triumph Legend 900 triple, it didn't whistle at all. I cannot explain why, except to guess that maybe it didn't have straight cut gears. So, it is possible to build a triple without that annoying kettle sound.
I simply don't understand why. I've read a lot of comments under this video, but I still question myself, why does the Mt 07 does not whistle, while also having a balancer shaft driven by straight cut gears, while the MT 09 whines and also has a balancer shaft driven by straight cut gears ? Could someone explain?
@@UrgetoRide And why is this whine so much louder on particular 3 cylinder bikes ? I mean the gears and other parts in the engine are also straight cut driven and aren't that loud, it's not quite logical for me
You have two ears but only one mouth...use it wisely. This video is BS. Do some research to the extent that spur gears are used throughout just about any motorcycle engine
I understand your skepticism. And if people at least watched the full video instead of barging in here with their minds fully made up ... I mentioned time and time again, the shape of the teeth, the tolerance, the engine case and most important of all, oil flow, will affect the sound. Bike gearboxes are straight cut but because they have excellent oil flow, you can barely hear them. Try running an R6 with low oil and you'll see. If you've already made up your mind - then thanks for checking out the channel anyway and hope to see you again. I'm not interested in youtube drama which the workshop clearly loves because he needs to pump out videos and make money off of you. I'm not. Do with that what you will..
Nice! The CBR 250R, 250cc single cylinder sport-tourer motorcycle also uses this to reduce the single cyl vibes! They also have this distinctive whine! Love em. Edit: please do a video on the Ducati V4's counter rotating crank! It's a masterpiece. The tail of the bike rises as you rev the motorcycle due to the crank rotating the opposite direction.
Thats right Joe ! CB shafts are not reserved to Inline 3s only at all. You can for example also hear it well on the 4 cylindered BMW K1200 and K1300. Good suggestion Joe thanks I'll look into it ! Most MotoGP bikes have got a counter rotating crank these days for agility so it might be interesting for the community.
I don't understand all the comments about straight cut gears not whining. They whine, some more than others. And yes the gearbox whines too, you can hear it. And yes timing gears(present on older bikes) whine too. Alternators on bikes also whine. If this counter balance thingy is the primary source of the whine on those bikes or not, i don't know. Remove it and try it.
Bro Yu are awsm... I really liked the presentation skills. Request if you can upload a video on why the Benelli tnt 899 and agusta f3 have loud mechanical noises coming out of the engine despite of having balancer shaft. They sound like something has broken inside the engine striking here and there. On the other side triumph's 3 cylinder is so smooth and soothing.
It's just such a perfect engine, I genuinely think it is the most versatile, fun yet accessible and reliable engine out there. Yamaha if you're listening please bring out an 'R9' or R8.5 or call it whatever you want just for the hell of it, imagine an R6 but with a CP3....
@@andrewb1667 Well due to emissions and the rest of it, they just might... Most manufacturers just bump cc like the Tiger 900, the Shiver 900 NC750 etc... so its not too an outlandish idea !
How do you find the top end on the CP3? I've heard some folks say it runs out of steam a bit. (I realise that's possibly being said from a very subjective point of view, and having a bike on the dyno would clarify and a tune would probably sort too)... Must get around to test riding one them.
@@hyperthunk the top end is strong, but it isn't a supersport. It runs out of steam around 120 mph, but will still pull up to the 150's. Without any windscreen, I've had mine to 140 with my flashed ecu. It takes a long stretch of road to get any higher, and the wind is terrible.

Urge to Ride so are you saying that all triples from all manufacturers have exactly the same cut gears, crankcase thickness blah blah produce the same whine? Or could it be present on all engines but because of the power pulses and resonance from a triple it is only noticeable on triples?

Incoming!
Got to go. Got my work cut out for me…
Need a master painter.

LMFAO oh dear
Literally my reaction John
You laughed at your own video..weird.although it is comedy gold

Christ just watch the whole video peeps instead of jumping to conclusions. And if youre coming from Matt then no its not the blooming 'exhaust venturi' like seriously...

What about my Haojue 150 whining????
Not an exhaust whiney bike.

I’ve seen other websites that talk about rocking couples but they were _very_ different to this...😉
You rascal 😂
You know that's not what they mean when they talk about "swinging" arms, right!? 😉
My Fox 1.2 was a triple, never whistled once?
Cars have a completely different building agenda, engine cases are stronger, gears are helical, and noises are engineered out to a minimum. The typical buyer of a 1.2 Fox would think the engine is broken if it started whining... VW wouldnt want that. Thanks for popping in matie
@@UrgetoRide Has a balance shaft though?
And is probably not far off the size and integrity of a motorcycle engine itself anyhow.
Tommo, as I said, VW engineered it out. The CB shaft on your Fox is helical, not straight cut. Picture ; i.ebayimg.com/images/g/RH8AAOSwt3teqAxH/s-l1600.jpg

@@UrgetoRide I already understand this, video doesnt really do justice to what you are trying to get across here really.
@James Jones Because "This is why TRIPLES whine".
Its a triple aint it?
Wrong. So wrong. So, so, so wrong.
No it's not. I swear if someone says exhaust venturi I'll off a baby panda

ShedTorque.
Thank you for the comment ST and taking the time. Matt has built his channel on;
1/3 actually informative stuff, although badly executed - half his videos are him cursing about his markers not working..
1/3 literally bashing other content creators because he's very insecure but it brings him views and gives his minions things to do
1/3 there not being a better alternative, and that's quickly changing.

I watch The Workshop for the engineering so I won't get into the politics of it, but I guess we are all entitled to an opinion.
I totally understand what you are saying, I was suggesting the possibility of other additional variables, largely due to observations during venturi flowmeter testing, the unpredictable behaviour of gases at high reynolds numbers show strange and various phenomena. Anyway, I am boring myself. All the best with the channel though.

Great video and amazing editing. ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it Fel ;)
all my bikes have straight cut (or spur) gears on their balancer shafts and not one of them whines like a triple. think there's alot more to what makes the engine noise and the acoustics of engines than just one small element.
Running the same triple that whines at idle with and without a balance shaft to see the difference in whine/whistle and low to mid revs, though I can appreciate not many folks will be willing to put their bike through that
Wow... you reacted with a statement on your own video description. Wise move 😂
I do not understand why Matt felt threatened by me ? Must be off his meds today, seriously. I like the guy thats the worse bit - but he's so wrong on this one and the way he handled it is so poor
@@UrgetoRide tbf I reckon Matt would do the same to his own best mate if he disagreed with them or believed they were providing misleading information.
Just take it on the chin, carry on making content, do your best to stay accurate and/or reference your sources or experience where relevant. Tbh just referencing your sources would make his whole argument go away, since unless you're an engineer working for Triumph everyone has to go somewhere for research! Nice thing about sources is you can insist any critic provides their own sources and it becomes a question of who trusts which sources, rather than who is right/wrong. (I'm not sure either of you can scientifically prove you're right using any sane cost effective means, so short of Triumph or somewhere else publishing their thoughts, we're basically at an impasse, and I'm sure Matt would make a "Fook off Triumph" vid if he disagreed with or disbelieved what they said anyway lol)
So on the same theory, is this why my mt09 gearbox whines, cos the gears are straight cut, and why does gear 3 and 6 makes the most noise ?
Wow it's a significant addition of engine part for balance !
Now I know. Thank you!
Love this channel!
🔥Great video..much needed info👍
I simply don't understand why. I've read a lot of comments under this video, but I still question myself, why does the Mt 07 does not whistle, while also having a balancer shaft driven by straight cut gears, while the MT 09 whines and also has a balancer shaft driven by straight cut gears ? Could someone explain?
The MT07 does whine but very faintly - if you have an MT07 with a stock exhaust it becomes easier to notice it. Trust me its there
@@UrgetoRide And why is this whine so much louder on particular 3 cylinder bikes ? I mean the gears and other parts in the engine are also straight cut driven and aren't that loud, it's not quite logical for me
@@dst8636 well, just like he said, MV Agusta triple is not noticeable too. Probably because of the depth gear I guess.

@@UrgetoRide Carol loves the noise her Triumph makes 😂😂
I'm sure you could make something entertaining about the middle aged man's love affair with the GS👍

@@PULS3RID3R I watch Matt's channel sometimes, seems a bit harsh going for a small channel. Personally I like the way Urge to Ride puts a video together with humour and I will continue to watch. Cheers.
@@Banditmanuk Mate it's so funny seeing this army of brainwashed soldiers land on these shores without a single bit of critical thinking. Lots of people are coming from the Workshop video and are wholeheartedly taking his view blindly - his whole video is LITERALLY 18 MINUTES OF HIM REGURGITATING MY VIDEO THEN TOPPING IT OFF WITH A WRONG SPECULATION ;
- So the best you can do, the creme de la creme of Matt, is to respond to my video with a SPECULATION ?? What a load of boll**** about exhaust venturis hahaha If you have a BMW K1300 or K1200 to hand start it up and hear it whistle like a mother******, and thats a straight 4 firing every 180 iirc. By your logic twins should whistle like mother******* ???
- The Cashing in on my specialty bit made me cringe - he thinks he owns motorcycle videos or motorcycle entertainment? Not to mention U2R makes ZERO money out of videos unlike him.
- Yes, we know spur gears are straight cut gears, they’re synonyms you muppet
- If I had a nickel for everytime he said I’ll show a demonstration and never fucking does - because yes sometimes he's straight up wrong.
- He's essentially saying the balancer shaft whines on his Z900, WHAT THE **** IS THE POINT IN HIS VIDEO AND RANT THEN ?
- Literally at no point said only triples have CB shafts, look at my comments on the video discussing 4 cylinders and singles with the community about how they have them too
- Word salad ? Says the dude who spends 18 minutes literally regurgitating what I explained in the video
- The video he shows of the MT09 has a baffleless exhaust I could fit both my fists and his whole talent in. You wouldn’t be able to hear ****
- He claims to want to help people but instead just bashes people then speculate ??
The simple fact he claimed he looked at my channel but nothing looked promising to take the piss out of shows he's literally just looking for material to rant about, right or wrong... in this case VERY WRONG
