- Once again the low water levels this time of year made fishing tough, but I still managed to catch some beautiful little micro species from this marsh. The highlight was definitely the lone lined topminnow (Fundulus lineolatus). I haven't caught too many of these in my life so something a little different is always nice.

I love this micro series, the hidden world of this species is really atractive.
It is way more interesting than I thought it would be. I bought some micro tackle just so I could catch some of the little sunfish we have up here in North Florida that I didn't even know existed.
Thanks. I love the diversity in all the different fishes around the world. Our would has so much beauty out there that so many people never see.
That's awesome! Which species are you looking for? I've caught some banded sunfish and bluespotted sunfish up in northern Florida. They're a neat genus.
@@TheFishingNomad Gulf Coast Pygmy was my most recent lifer checked off the list
@@Steve-ev6vx Oh that's awesome. I targeted them once near Tallahassee, but I struck out. I know they were there, just so hard to get them on a hook.
Spent a bit of time in FL in around 14/15 but wasn't into micro fishing then, this video is making me wanna head back with the tanago's! I fished a similar area to this, Myakka park.
That's a great reason to come back and give it a try haha
I envision Florida being a vast marshy wetland such as you see there.
I live in the northwest part of Florida and it is mostly rolling hills with pine trees until you get near a river or creek, then it gets swampy.
southern Florida is more of a marshy expanse, but northern Florida has some amazing wetlands as well!
It’s mostly golf courses and sub developments now
Almost all of Florida (south of Orlando) looked like this originally. Humans have changed it a bit, but you can still find places like this out there.
Yup and that's too bad.
Love the videos. What chart do you use to identify the fish?
That completely depends on where I am and what body of water I'm fishing. I've got a small library of about 15-20 books for fish identification. Check out this link for the best book for freshwater fishes in Florida: amzn.to/40e6cdr
get em
I'm trying to lol
Hint, a cast net would get every species in a couple casts? LOL
True, but my goal is to catch them on hook and line. That's something I can't do with a cast net.
@@TheFishingNomad it was just sarcasm 😉
