@@The_ginger_fisherman just a wee thought, we all enjoy seeing the fish and them interacting with bait , but if you not eating them then why hook them ? Am an ex trawlerman and those days saw too many dead ones wasted😢 try a camera creel or fish trap. 🐟
This is an interesting expose of the lock gate environment, Chris. It's interesting to see that (generally) the Perch only took the maggots once they had landed on the bottom.
I remember growing up as a kid on the river kennet we had school's of perch around 2lbs thouse were the days im 71 now .and can remember sitting all night on a wicker basket touch ledgering for chub and barble . making minnow traps from plastic bottles one of the best baits by far under a float running down the weir.
I love this stuff!! Perch are beautiful fish, and seeing them down there like this really gives a bit of perspective to us all above the water fishing for them. How about dropping down a few cameras evenly spaced to keep the frames aligned and then testing out a few different lures/baits in a bit of a face off? Would make for exciting videos! Thanks again for the time and effort you put into the videos.
Chris is in to almost anything good job he is the videos are brilliant n the footage of the camera work is unbelievable thanx mate I enjoyed again another Chris ‘s. Video thanx bro 👌👏👏👏👏👏
Excellent idea ! excellent filming fishing camera work and editing thanks for showing us .was amazed how clean and to be honest not that much rubbish in the canals .thanks for doing and showing us your day .Greetings from Wales .
Another great video Chris. Interesting watching those Perch feed. They seem to go for the worm as soon as it moves. It's another world at the bottom of the Lock's ....
There's a young fishing RUclipsr called Wilfie, I really hope he watches your channel and learns all the stuff you show. I'd love to see him catching more fish
I love underwater fishing videos. Maybe you can also do one while using soft lures and fishing on the bottom or dropshotting. You always have very goof videos 👏👏👏
Lovely footage. Watching a perch chug down a worm like that really explains the bites I'd see as a kid. Dib.dib dib, lift into the fish. If you lifted as soon as it tugged the float, all you were doing was pulling the bait out of the fishes mouth. Nice one.
fellow ginger who loves perch here- love the vids to man, kee p it up! Re lock one V lock two- lock one- lots sunlight, green weed growth covers bottom and sides- Stacked with fish cos stacked with munchies for fish in the weed. lock two appears very shaded, less light, and sides and bottom lots bare brick, some fallen sycamore leaves and a scattering of weedy growth in places.. almost no fish cos feeding is crap and its darker thus colder as well. (ive spent some time snorkelling in small rivers you get similar effects on bits river next to each other)
Have you seen Adventure Fishing UK? He has a very similar demeanor, but usually fishes a bit more out in the country. I've a feeling your Mrs. might be able to tolerate him, as well.
My PB perch was 7 pounds! now normally I would release a big one like that but at the time I had a massive aquarium, I would be able to lie down in this tank! so I thought to myself let's give this old lady the best retirement possible I had plenty of roaches in a pool so this old lady could eat to her heart's content and she did so, an hour after I put her in there she ate! 2 weeks later she was eating out of my hand. Another reason I brought her home was that her water was going to be filled in for development. I had her for 15 years, and then she passed of old age, the age of a perch is put at 8 to 10 years I think my perch was at least 20 so she had a good retirement run! her name was Jenny. Jenny weighed 13.5 pounds at the time of her passing so she nearly doubled in size in my care. perch are great as aquarium pets unlike goldfish who don't care if you are there or not perch are really intelligent if you come close to the tank they will come out to say hello come feeding time they will all come to the window it's like they are saying hey! where's the F-ng grub! perch easily learn to eat from your hand bigger ones even like to be pet if they are in the mood I always had some balls and pipes in the tank because perch like to play also always have a brick in your tank they use the brick to clean themselves they rub against the brick to get rid of their old slime layer and afterward strands of slime are drifting about in the tank and yes they eat those slime strands nature is all about recycling.
I spent an hour watching and feeding perch when I started fishing, and I noticed that they lock thier dorsal fin when they're feeding because that's when they're most vulnerable to attack. I learned to get ready to strike when I saw the fin rise, and increased my hook up rate 100%.
Great video as always but I wish you would share more tactical information like hook size and weight used etc and also the camera you used and how you attached it to the line and kept it upright etc, cheers bud again great vid keep them coming 👍🏻
At 7:27 is hilarious; having been an angler in the past and for the first time seeing here what happens to a fish that is hooked 😂 They take the bait and oh!... I'm suddenly rising upwards.😆
Awesome footage. Perch are just so beautiful.
My favourite fish from my childhood going course fishing. Apparently fresh water bass
I wish there was a new ginger fisherman video everyday 😅can’t get enough of them Chris
What a genuine guy
Get this man his own TV show!
Thanks Chris so relaxing. I can’t walk past a lock without looking in and being mesmerised thinking what’s there. Cool stuff keep it coming fella 👍🏻👍🏻
Really enjoyable, nice to see that fishing is not all about commercial lakes full of double figure Carp.
Especially here in Australia where they are in plague proportions and regarded as a noxious pest.
You ever noticed that UK Carp vids on youtube are always some Cockney bloke with half a million pounds worth of gear?
I've only just realised how much subscribers Ginger has now. Every single sub is deserved. He puts in so much hard work
Thanks buddy!

Those adorable perch were like: "A blessing! precious mana from the Lord!" Such cool footage.
no words chris you are the best and you keep producing amazing vlogs thanks
Unlike so many Fishing RUclipsrs Nice peaceful appropriate music that didnt distract from technical info.
Beautiful. So soothing to watch on a sunday. Nice editing sounds..relaxed. love it
Afraid the music spoiled it for me. Great content as always though.
This is an interesting expose of the lock gate environment, Chris. It's interesting to see that (generally) the Perch only took the maggots once they had landed on the bottom.
Yes, that was interesting. I suspect it would be different in running water. Also, I always think perch are suckers for red maggots but not here. 👍
Great footage. Amazing colouration on the perch underwater.
Amazing photography..loads of perch .Fantastic markings.
Tremendous footage, loved watching it 👌
Love me some Perch bashing - keep it up Chris!
Who would have thought there would be so many fish in a lock, like the way that pike came into view, love catching perch, great video mate 🎣🎣👍
What a fantastic video amazing footage very educational
Thank you 👍🏼🎣🍺

Nice clean perch. The bigger specimen obviously in the main canal!!
Incredible footage! 👀🐟
GREAT VIDEO, GREAT DESCRIPTION & DETAIL
Two interesting things for me... the Perch were not interested in eating the maggots on the drop and also weren't spooked when one was hooked.
Brill as always Chris thx mate 👍👍

Nice to see how clean it was down there. Thought it might have loads of cans and crisp packets in it
The only fishing channel my mrs lets me play on the TV. Must be that Yorkshire jawline 😂
Have you seen Adventure Fishing UK? He has a very similar demeanor, but usually fishes a bit more out in the country. I've a feeling your Mrs. might be able to tolerate him, as well.
My guess is Nottinghamshire
You are a curious hunter chris and you seeking knowledge helps us all

Cap
Used to jump ' town lock ' as a kid . Used to have a mesh fence in those days to help stop yourself because you needed a good run up !
I love the underwater videos
Interesting to see they don't jump on the food like crazy hungry animals, even if there are a lot of them on the spot.
I spent an hour watching and feeding perch when I started fishing, and I noticed that they lock thier dorsal fin when they're feeding because that's when they're most vulnerable to attack. I learned to get ready to strike when I saw the fin rise, and increased my hook up rate 100%.
None of them spooked when their mate gets hooked. Interesting.
Hi verrrryyyyy nice video!! I caught a lot of perch in the UK! THX!!

Those locks are cute, where I live the difference in waterlevel between locks is 10+ meters 😄
Enjoyed that matey
Magnifique !👍😉
Oh mate wanna buy a camera put it in the old places I used to fish years ago interesting video as usual!
Interesting how few maggots were taken on the drop.
Great vid 👍
