You are correct. That's NEW to me. Never knew there's a natural state for the Upper Control Arm to rest. Wow, I am glad I ran into this guy's Channel. I learned new techniques and ways of correct repairs. All he needs now is Vehicle Lift. LOL 😂. That makes life a lot easier. That's on wish- list.
My friend I just ran across your video on the Jeep Liberty ball joints! Man, I tell you I sure wish you were in Connecticut I will sure come visit you do mine on my Liberty but great video thank you
Awesome Video! I appreciate all the detail you showed and the production quality. I even appreciated your humor and attitude. One comment on using the klinometer to set the angle on your upper control arm - There is nothing "wrong" with doing that but, there is a better way. You could have bumped the nuts up, like you did, so free movement is allowed and completed the rest of the installation. Then, put a floor jack under the C by the lower ball joint and raise it up until the weight of the vehicle was on the suspension before tightening up the nuts on the bushings. You could have even set it back on the ground before tightening the nuts. Again, your way is waaaaay better than what most folks do. Final tightening with full weight on the suspension is even more accurate.
I usually do the method of waiting till the car is on the ground to tighten everything but sometimes it's a pain to get to some of the nuts n bolts with the wheel on and the car on the ground
Recently had a rear assembly on a Camry that wouldn’t come off. Tried to get it to come off without taking knuckle off. Didn’t work. Took the time to get knuckle off and stood it up with wood blocks and used a sledge hammer head hand hammer and with 1 swing, that wheel bearing went flying across the yard about 8 yards. I thought I was going to break the aluminum knuckle but I didn’t care at that point. Aluminum and steel touching causes this corrosion.
Dude, Just subbed to your channel good job on the video, loved the reference to "Give her the Beans" or in your case "give her the salsa" which works for weak salsa when it is not enough Beans. LOL, good commentary and reference to Eric O. at SMA love that guy's work.
Nice work , you almost got some Salsa on your face with that setup ! And damn another car with a broken windshield, what the hellos going on over there ? You should call your show “Busted Cars County “
I’ve been watching Sarah N Tuned for many years and she would always say “ time to give it the beans “ . It was her Auntie who would say it when she was growing up and just adopted saying it 😉
Thanks so much for this video! I need both ball joints and upper control arms on each side of my '05 Liberty replaced. It is rear wheel drive only. About how many hours of Labor should the mechanic be charging me for? Thanks!
I have a 2004 jeep Liberty 3.7v6 Oil gasket leak. Is there away to just lift the motor up and get the oil pain out? Instead of removing the hole motor. If not. Will the oil leak eventually ruin my vehicle?
Great job jon plus attention to detail ! I love to watch the job your doing to show people what is involved in the job .. so now know we’re COVID-19 came from lol ..
I have some car work videos that I did. Also I subscribed my friend great video I have to do my lower ball joint’s today. This video helped a lot. What the name of that ball joint compress tool
Hey John, what's a good brand to choose from rock auto as far as suspension components?, what has given you the least amount of headaches/callbacks?, thanks in advance.
I found moog balljoint or bushings fail just as quick as the less expensive stuff sold in the auto parts store. Why pay the extra money for moog then? Mevotech normally costs less and is pretty much the same quality. Of course I always recommend oem parts but most times people can't afford those parts
My bolts keep spinning when I try to get the nuts on.. please help? I just got whole new ball joint knuckle and bearing all together and it won't stop spinning no matter the pressure applied..
my lower balljoint snapped in half yesterday right as I was taking my exit off the highway, had to steer to a safe spot so the castle nut ground against the inside of the wheel for a bit and it's giving me hell getting it off. imagine ill have to cut it off.
"Giving it the Salsa." Love it!!!! Let's see if it reaches out here to the West Coast lol "How I started CoronaVirus by doing this" LMAO!!! Had me rollin!!!! Definitely a Hoot!! watching this, while I eat my lunch- It's 1:45pm
I started doing front lower control arms on my KJ and borrowed some bushing tools from AutoZone. Today I ended up making my own cups because NONE of them fit! The first one for the shock bottom I sacrificed a big HF impact socket. I had to make another from those crappy stock rock rails I had. I cut rings to the right length then cut slits in them welded them up to the right size then put another ring to make them about a quarter inch wall. The only thing I used was the press. I'll make two more for the lower control arm bushings tomorrow. What a pain. It's the only vehicle we have. 🙄 Where you at, bro?
Awesome video!fixin to rebuild the front end on an 06 Liberty!glad I found your video!
Thanks for watching
Great video. You are the first person to discuss the correct angle of the upper control arm. I wish I saw this before I starting my 2003 Jeep Liberty.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it ain't broke 😏
Nice idea with the digital angle meter/inclinometer 😊. As for giving it the Salsa 💃 that's stuck in my head now 😂.
I'm doing the same project but with the tierods too. thanks for sharing
You're welcome. Thanks for watching
Don't worry your salsa is keeping us safe from the Rona virus. great video.

Use your air chisel on the other side on the gap between the knuckle and the wheel bearing.
Give it the beans ! That's Sarah from Sarah in tuned. That's what she says when she road test cars.
Thanks so much for this video! I need both ball joints and upper control arms on each side of my '05 Liberty replaced. It is rear wheel drive only. About how many hours of Labor should the mechanic be charging me for? Thanks!
It might take a while but you can use an airtool grease gun to get those needle grease fittings
I like the new style of video good job as always 👍

Give it the salsa !!!

I have a 2004 jeep Liberty 3.7v6 Oil gasket leak. Is there away to just lift the motor up and get the oil pain out? Instead of removing the hole motor. If not. Will the oil leak eventually ruin my vehicle?
Agreed, it felt so wrong cutting that sensor cable. I actually cringed lol.

Hey John, what's a good brand to choose from rock auto as far as suspension components?, what has given you the least amount of headaches/callbacks?, thanks in advance.
I stopped buying moog parts for the most part. Been buying mevotech and haven't had any issues. I only buy from the daily driver category or premium
@@themechanic6117 OK, thank you
@@themechanic6117 why did you stop buying moog?

Did you put the hardware kit on? Or are the brakes going to chatter like they did before?
They're going to chatter for now. The guy is scheduled to come back next week to get the brakes done right 👍

Yeah that sounds like BS ! I'm in Valparaiso ,Indiana
@@themechanic6117 no bs. I'm in Orland Park, IL

It feels wrong to cut the wires because you have integrity.
Amen to that!!!
Wait...was that the Midas jingle? Jon. Come on man.... when doing jingles GIVE IT THE SALSA!
If you're going to do one wheel bearing you do the other one too
In a perfect world sure. This is a customers car. They decide what gets done. If only one is bad then only one gets replaced
I knew it was you who started corona virus
🤣🤣😏
*FIRST* 🤟🏽
Nice!👍
Give it the pinto beans?
