Can you do a video with you skating vintage metal skates? And speaking of metal skates, how do I clean the metal wheels? And is it possible to change the metal wheels out with new wheels?
I pretty much only skate on fiberglass now and can keep up or pass anyone... so any wheel you get will be fast enough once you get use to them. If I were you i would try a pair of suregrip wood wheels. They are only 35$ Cheap! its the middle of the road. if there's not enough slide, go with the fiberglass. If there's too much slide go with clay.
I have rollerbones 101 like the ones you showed. But they get so dirty at the rink I frequent. I have to take wheels off to clean them in bucket of soapy water. Any tips to keep them from getting so gross?
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a really, really REALLY, dirty rink. I've only had to clean my wheels a few times ever, and it was because the rink wasn't being cleaned.......
They come with a kit like this www.rollerskatenation.com/premium-quad-skate-plate-mounting-kit/sku/?gclid=CjwKCAjwycfkBRAFEiwAnLX5If-7l_DqB7punT0NiLHeVH6iHHCqBhwYOtdldEADchSS6a_j7bXEMRoC8TkQAvD_BwE But you need to call and make sure that they are in there. A lot of these skate shops are taking them out because they dont want you to make your own skates. I found some online and they should be at my house this week. If they are the right size and will work I'll send you the link so you can buy the cups from them like 19 cents each.
the cups I ordered are perfect. Here is the link pilotshq.com/tinnerman-countersunk-washer-screw-size-a3235-028-193-p-13103.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwm-fkBRBBEiwA966fZFdZAwvZsVzAsSDH5b0KWyeBcDjya1ug_euL-xUw0f7lDwEGDE7JxxoCrcgQAvD_BwE
Every now and then I put a few drops of bones speed cream in them. If they are still slow I would pull the caps off and shake them up in some acetone or degreaser. If that still doesn't work you could have bent the caps with the socket when you were tightening them. I've killed a lot of bearings that way. There's a few videos on how to pull the caps and clean on RUclips. Next time I clean my bearings I'll do a quick vid on how I do it
@@davidwarren5407 It depends on the rink. Some rinks are more slippery than others. Probably could if you had enough speed and are light on your feet. They are a good starter sliding wheel for sure.
FreeFly Denny ok thx, there coming in today and I ordered some default 608 ZZ bearings with it lol, but my friend said he can give me some of his red bones bearings
I have 101A FoMac Premier wheels. I have to clean them after every skate. I just did a search on how to clean the wheels. Yours is the first video I watched. Thanks for the tips. 👍
I have some video requests for you: 1. I am trying to learn the anatomy of skates. I have googled so many pictures but I have seen some skates that have other or more parts that the pictures don’t. Could you please make a skate anatomy video? 2. Could you PLEASE make a video about the cleaning and maintenance of wheel bearings? 3. Could you make a video about different types of wheel bearing please (ceramic vs steel vs looseball) ? I have trying research on my own but I’m even more confused then before.
I just use a normal like visa gift card to get the bigger stuff off then i use the pink spray and a rag from the rink to get the small stuff off and it cleans it right up btw i use wood sure-grip originals
That's the size of bearings you will put on. I and most everyone uses the 8mm. If you didn't already watch this video on how to build the skates ruclips.net/video/1awr_3vot7E/видео.html

Are you talking about the strap on metal skates?
FreeFly Denny yes I am. They have an ankle strap but that’s it.
@@evankolar8957 got it. Ill look into them
I'm running Anabolix 98a wheels and have no slide... What would you recommend to slide a bit so I can hockey stop. A fast wheel preferably. Thanks!!

@@freeflydenny Thanks very much!!! Good idea!!
For fiber glass wheels do you need loose ball bearings
No they make them for precision and loose ball.
I like using disinfectant wipes on the fibers, they look brand new after and you get 100% slickness back
Good to know. I'll give it a shot
FreeFly Denny yeah it’s worth a try!!
I just tried this on mine and it worked perfectly, i used a wipe and then got a towel and dried them off they look perfect again

Thanks! Cleaning wood wheels now. Rinks really need to clean the floors as well, would help =).
Are roller bones precision bearings and the fiberglass wheels on Amazon do they need precision bearings
Yeah you can get them both on Amazon. I personally get them from sk8 fanatics though
Any tips on bearing maintenance or like common reasons why bearing don’t spin well?

Which grit sand paper do you use on the wood wheels ?
Thanks man, I just ordered some fomac premiers and I’m getting into sliding,
Nice, you will love it!
FreeFly Denny do U think I can slide with all the wheels on the floor going sideways? Or I have to keep it sliding on the wooden edges?

FreeFly Denny and do you know anything about the harmony fomacs? Black and whites
Also if you did an Air Force one roller skate do you need a plate for the bottoms
Nope, just need the mounting cups. They usually come in a mounting kit with bolts but I replace the bolts and use my own.
Love it always wonder how to clean it bc the sticky stuff fucks up the slide

yes! finally
Buffing wheel on a grinder is quick and easy.
Ha! Yup, the snack bar and the bathroom, that’s what messes up the wheels.
