    Modi has rejuvenated this nation with the civilisational confidence that we’d lost with 1000 years of colonisation. He’s a visionary who’s doing the much needed reforms. He’ll be back in 2024 with a bang 💥

    Im gonna pick Prabowo to run the nation and continue on Jokowi's legacy. Indonesia needs to speed up their infrastructure, it has been 70 years, our presidents only care about their family wealth. Only Jokowi can build so many toll road in another part of Indonesia.

      @abcddef2112 I don't know, maybe there are some lectures online somewhere. He's interesting because he spent time with mass organisations in Indonesia, including the lower level members. He isn't just regurgitating a political line from Jakarta's business community. 20 years ago, there were so many exceptional Indonesian academics in Australia and abroad with different, interesting views and perspectives. It's so sad to see what's left.

    Like Turkey, I think with Indonesia, we’re again seeing the limits of democracy in a majority-Muslim country…..Islam seems to have a difficult time cohabiting with democratic principles …

    • @faiq026
      @faiq026 9 месяцев назад +25

      It has nothing to do with islam. The problem with democracy is every 5 years a new leader will be appointed who's ready to dismantle the previous government's efforts and plans, and now you've ended up starting from zero; no development.
      Jokowi tries to keep his plans for the country, that's why in Indonesia right now the dichotomy is not about liberal vs conservative like in the US, but between continuity vs change.

    • @Shineon83
      @Shineon83 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@faiq026 Funny how every non-Islamic Western country seems to do O.K. with “having new leaders appointed every FOUR years,” who also always “dismantle the previous government’s efforts?”….That’s the definition of democracy.….But, playing games (like putting the under-age SON of the leader on a ticket) spits in the face of democracy-and is the sign of a POWER-HUNGRY LEADER who doesn’t want to LOSE POWER….
      As 90-95% of Islamic countries are run by either military leaders, “kings” or religious ayatollahs, it would appear that Islam is more comfortable under Authoritarian rule (and certainly, the only other Islamic “democracy,” Turkey, has steadily descended into Authoritarianism under Erdogan, barely qualifying as a democracy anymore)….

    US Foreign Policy to keep Asia poor.
    George Kennan, February 24, 1948, U.S. Foreign Policy:
    Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time.

Acheter des armes de destruction massive françaises, ignorant très clairement les inégalités de pauvreté généralisées et la malnutrition notamment des enfants, à l'instar de l'Egypte, les armes achetées étant obsolètes avant même leur livraison.
