Great break down of this posture. Make sure you be patient and move slowly in this posture. Take your time in each step and avoid any pain on your knees.

I am able to do as you say upto sitting down on my toes with fingers on the floor for support. But when I try to bring my hand up for "namaskar" I am hopelessly losing balance. What and how should I practice to be able to transition from there to the next step ?

Hello! Thank you so much for your question! To improve your balance it is very important to fix your eyes in one single point without moving the eyes anywhere--total concentration. Another tip would be to use your core muscles to lift the hips off the heel before bringing your hands up to the center of your chest.

@@PUREyogaTV Thank you so much for the detailed answer. It is the concentration which I hope to improve most by practicing yoga. :) Please share some core strengthening yoga asanas. Thanks again!

Pretty good, but I think the knee should be pointed down more, and hip pushed forward, forming a straighter line from abdomen to thigh.

Hello! Thanks so much for your kind feedback, we are glad to have you tune in!
Ideally, in Toe Stand, the spine should be straight and perpendicular to the floor with shoulders over hips, hips lifting above the heel, thighs parallel to the floor, and knees in one line. Every yoga practitioner works towards that goal by doing the best they can every day! Not many people can get to that maximum expression of the posture, yet it takes time and patience :)
      I hope this helps!

Why go slow? I've seen students comfortably drop straight down into to stand without touching their hands to the floor first.

You are right! We have seen advanced yoga practitioners going down and coming up with Toe Stand without hands, which is actually a pretty hard thing to do. Our short Yoga hack video clips are intended to give guidance to new yoga beginners & regular (and seasoned) yoga practitioners who are looking to improve their yoga practice 😄
