Leonardo Da Vinci was a man of many talents; he was an inventor, architect, scientist, sculptor, and of course an artist. But there’s one more talent Da Vinci is known for which may have been hidden in one of his most famous works, The Last Supper, and that talent was music.
Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam is one of the most iconic images in human history, depicting the Book of Genesis scene where God breathes life into Adam…through his fingers obviously, because a painting of the Lord Almighty going mouth to mouth with Adam may have been a little risqué for the walls of the Sistine Chapel. But in 1990 an American physician Dr Frank Meshberger noticed something familiar about the area surrounding God. What is that weird shape that the Lord seems to be crowdsurfing out from?
Take a look at this image of Domenico Ghirlandaio’s painting the Madonna with Saint Giovannino and see what catches your eye immediately. Is it the attractive lady in the centre, perhaps it’s the baby with the low slung slacks trying to give her a high five while an angel baby checks out his sweet six pack. That kid is more ripped than I’ll ever be. Or maybe the first thing you noticed was the strange object hovering in the sky, and the dude below it wondering what the hell it is.

This is Michelangelo’s The Prophet Zechariah, and it was painted in the Sistine Chapel in 1512 during the reign of Pope Julius the second. Now to say Pope Julius wasn’t everybody’s favourite is a bit like saying people thought the new Call of Duty trailer looked a little crappy. Julius the second was known as Il Papa Terrible, and you can translate that for yourself. But Michelangelo wasn’t a fan either, and it is believed that he painted Zechariah in a way which closely resembles Pope Julius.
So we already know that Leonardo Da Vinci likes to hide musical scores in his work, but what secrets could possibly remain hidden in the Mona Lisa, one of the world’s most famous pictures of someone being forced to smile on picture day? Many theories have been thrown around regarding the layout of the picture, such as the idea that Mona Lisa was pregnant due to the arrangements of her hands, that she may have been a prostitute due to her lack of facial hair, and when the image was analysed by a doctor he noticed that Mona Lisa may have been suffering from a tumour in her right eye, a tumour Da Vinci clearly must’ve noticed, so did he tell her?
This is a portrait of former President Bill Clinton which hangs in the Smithsonian Natural Portrait Gallery, and its artist Nelson Shanks has admitted that hidden within the painting is a reference to one of the most shocking moments of Clinton’s presidency.

You can find hidden messages out of just about anything. Most of these seem to be similar to the over interpretation that english teachers like to do with pieces of writing.
Agreed. But I have to wonder - had Da Vinchi been commissioned to do a work that he didn't fully agree with, might he have inserted something hidden to express his true beliefs instead? Did he paint God as a creation of man's own mind, with man giving life to God as a reflection of the image in his head? It might seem like a stretch, but given that he glorified reason and eschewed faith and appeals to authority; his status as a deist (not theist) is widely accepted. This makes it more likely that he believed more in a metaphysical God than the image/character depicted in the Bible. Yes, he accepted the common believe in a creator, but I suspect that his use of a brain was his own hidden message that the God as depicted, was the creation. Especially ironic, given the placement and inability to express this openly in any other way (without fear of reprisal). He was known to walk a tight line between believer and heretic, after all.
Edit: Ignore my error here - Michelangelo painted this, and was a devout Catholic, debunking any notion of it being symbolic of a hidden belief in God being a creation of man.

The concept of God has good foundation, it is based on reality, religion is a story about God, it is not God itself, God is a universal force, religion paints a face on that force and adds a human like character.

The musical score doesn't make sense, as back in DaVinci's day, they didn't write music like we do now. They were in the middle of developing a way to put music onto paper and it was far from what we have today, which is why it is hard for us to recreate what music must have been like before the Renaissance and can only speculate.

Well actually a fun fact about that hidden hand thing. From what I heard artists used to charge payment based off of how many limbs they had to paint, so hiding the hand was a way to have to pay less for the painting.

Maybe Da Vinci painted his famous paintings for no damn reasons but artwork. It's just us who complicate things by looking for something out of a simple thing.
the hidden hand thing is because at the time artists charged more for each hand and foot that was included in the painting. people found clever ways to hide their limbs.

I thought artists didn't like to paint hands and the extra cost for doing so was extremely expensive. That is why in full portraits artists would hide the hands because the people getting the work done didn't want to pay the extra cost.
