- Still in search of Hitler's lost gold here in Germany. One day we will find it! While looking for that we stumbled on things we rather not find, unexploded WW2 bombs and grenades.
Luckily there were also some things that are actually on our wishlist. Personal and equipment used by German soldiers during WW2. Looking at how many unexploded material we found, it must have been a raging battlefield.

FAQ:
-Do you report things found to the authorities?
Yes, all nasty things found like UXO's and finds that could be important from an archaeology perspective are reported to the local authorities.
-Do you sell finds?
I am a collector myself so I hardly sell relics. But if I do then I'll post it on the social media pages or think about becoming a Patron, because I'll share finds with my Patrons (check out the Patreon website for details).
-How do you gain permission for metal detecting?
Check out local laws regarding metal detecting and get permission from the landowner. Or hook up with a local metal detecting club in the area you would like to detect and get your information from them. (I stopped responding to questions like this all together, I'm not google..)

The picture inserts for certain artifacts are so very interesting, too, especially when one might not be familiar with it🤓🇺🇸
Reporting is good. Cleaning up the woods.
From the US. Hitler loved caves and tunneling. Don’t you think gold and treasures would be in those caves or tunnels
Could be. It most be somewhere, such a big amount of gold can't just vanish.
Good finds enjoyed the video
Awesome thank you!
Thanks for sharing such videos with us.
It's my pleasure!
The large 15cm was also used on the Jadgtiger, the shell was loaded first and what you dug up was the powder charge loaded next.
thanks!
The US Marine Corps used the button guide in world War 1 and either the British adopted it or we did. I used one similar on my dress blue uniform.
Hi Mike
Great video thanks for sharing
Be careful out there
Cheers
I truly enjoy your videos! Thanks guys.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching.
Top video weer 😊
Great finds iron mike thanks for your care and attention to good detail...
My pleasure!! Glad you enjoyed the video.
That plate looks like it's the top off a Field Food Can that the kitchens used to send food out the forward positons
thanks!
Great video Mike, some amazing finds, very nice 👌😀👍
Glad you enjoyed it Shaun!
Nice 🙂
The ammo pouch is amazing
Thanks Dale. That was a nice find indeed
Thanks for another amazing video(im sure it is)!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video as always Mike :) The K98 bullet case an amazing find, So complete
hey buddy, thanks for dropping by again!
Hey Mike , When you guys come across any rounds or mg belts that are encrusted together , take them home and soak them in automatic transmission fluid . That way they will come apart easily with no damage from pulling them apart . Let them soak for days if you have a really nice belt . Use the red type of fluid (dextron) . You can get old fluid for free at most tranny shops . It works great to unstick anything you want to cleanup or disassemble . The crustier the piece is , longer you let it soak . It works great to unseize emergency brake cables too .
Great tip, didn't know that! Thanks Michael, will try it out some time.
The belts for an MG42 and MG34 are the same as far as I know. I just bought some to load up some MG drum magazines for display. Hard to find ammo now days. I should have bought it a few years ago when you could get it everywhere. All I can get is the surplus corrosive kind right now. Too much of a hassle to clean your rifle after using and I do shoot my K98 once and a while. You guys are missing all the fun 😉
Mess kit 😊
Pretty amazing and I always wonder the situation of how the things ended up where they did. One could guess a MG position with perhaps small artillery support, then you find the British item.
...& the unexploded ordnance, Wow!!!😲😳👍🇺🇸
Amazing 😁 great vid mate
Thanks for the visit :)
Awesome! All of those bombs…wow! Do you have to report the ammo also? Or is the ammo not a problem. That cartridge belt was in great shape compared with others I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Look forward to more! Stay healthy .
Great presentation as always Mike ....some cool finds also
Yeeeesssss..very good.
Very interesting finds! I can't imagine digging up one of the huge bombs!
I unfortunately do. Usually don't even bother recording them any more but received a lot of remarks so I thought might as well show these.
can we see how they defuse those..
If you're looking for the gold go to Switzerland
Great seeing guys doing guys stuff. 😊 Anyway, the aluminium (lid) looks like the top off a thermos container or maybe a artillery or rocket tube container? The button "jack" is quite common in the UK, usually made of brass and you see them quite often in British antique and militaria shops. Its slipped around the button and stops brasso ( brass cleaner) getting on your jacket.
Gotcha. interesting item. Didn't knew those existed but since I don't find much British related items, these are new to me. German forces didn't have to polish their buttons.

Very nice video my friend! Man be carefully with these mortar rounds!
Best regards
AC
You have to wonder if anybody ever dug one of those bombs up and it went off
Never hear of it. Did read stories of people blowing themselves up by taking these home and trying to deactivate them.
Someone got killed in South Carolina because someone pulled a pin on a grenade that was supposed to be a replica…
Someone bought a civil war cannon ball from ? He was going to sell it but decided to have it checked out. It was still live and had to be detonated by the bomb squad.
"grenades" are hand thrown ordinance....those are shells.
ok
Wehre are you there? Wo seit ihr da ?
I'm constantly seeing dates from well before the war on dug-up ammo in these videos. They must have had HUGE stocks of at least some kinds of ammo before the war. It's really too bad the 8mm relic ammo can't be kept and deactivated. A waste of historical artifacts.

True, also the early made ammunition was made from the good solid brass. Later during the war they switched to crappy iron. We find those too but those are usually too far gone.
Thanks for your comment and explaining the numbers Winston. Appreciate it
Great video. Thanks for uploading.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your view
Sehr schöne Funde Mike und super Video danke für mitnehmen. 👍
Danke fürs Zuschauen!
Artillary shells
good stuff big balls!hey heres an 80 mortar round, dont jiggle it*jiggles it a lot! ;-) .ive polished my knob a few times but ive never tried this tool you found ill have to make one up.................................button!button! haha classic.
LOL Well, you'll probably don't need a tool like that to polish your knob. If you do I feel sorry for the mrs.
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting lots of people do but I didn’t force her to say I do🤔😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice finds guys. Love the ammo pouch 2/3 full.
Those were a nice find! Thanks for your view Joe!
Do you think this was a battle area and not an area to dig in because of the ammunition found?
Finding ammunition is unfortunately a part of what we do.
Turkish subtitles 😀
Thank you
You're welcome! :)
Hope it translated well enough?
The button polishing bar was usually made of brass and the soldier slipped it behind his buttons and it protected his uniform from the brass polish
ah right, it's to protect the uniform so it doesn't get dirty from the polish. Thanks Ian!
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting Just don't try using it on yer knob!

Be careful!
Cool finds my friends, I've come across old shells out in the California desert sometimes and they are as good as the day they were fired. For what ever reason they didn't go off I make a big circle around them, many have anti-handeling devices in them. Love watching your channel. 👍👍👍👍👍❤🇺🇸
I get that! Reported these to the landowner and it's up to him what to do with it.
Thanks for dropping by Kenny.
I have just recently found your chanel, I love watching and waiting to see what will be dug out next. Are the unexploded ordinance destroyed on site or removed to a different location? If on site, perhaps you guys could return and see what might be left under the crater left? 🤪
I do love watching your videos, thank you for posting them.
Iron Mike very nice finds
thanks man! Nice of you to drop by again.
Another great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Jeffrey!
It’s called a button stick , normally brass but due to shortages some were bakalite
I found also a steal one in a Canadian dump pit
Thanks! I believe this is a steel version.
Great video guys 😊👍🏻
Thank you 🤗
🔥
hi!
I was cringing watching the munitions dug out as they were, no concerns about detonation?
Can we see defusing those
I'm trying to see if I can come along some day with a German bomb squad to see (and record) how they deal with UXO's
Put the shovel here....ok ya dont wiggle it too much! Wiggles it out of the hole....dang that has to be a bit scary!
Thank you for sharing.
Too bad there isn't a better way to mark the unexplored artillery so the authority's can find and dispose of them easier
it is a hassle to report. Should be an easier way to do so but that's what you get for working with Government agencies.
Hey mike!still loving my hoodie!
Great to hear! Wear it with pride John! :)
and by that, big thanks for your support!
Mystery aluminium object Looks like the lid from either a milk churn or a food canister from a field kitchen
Could be! Thanks for your help!
Hoe moet je ammo en bommen in België reporten? Is daar een site voor en hoe doe je het het best?
Thats the third time this week my comment disappeared from a video. I guess I triggered something in the RUclips algorithm. No talking about MGs and the cylindrical pointy things that go in them I guess 😆
Great to see you out doing some metal detecting. Winter still won't let go here and the ground is still frozen.
Maybe it happened because the video was not public yet? Think what happened is, it was hidden, then I scheduled it for release and then (I think) the comments automatically disappear.
Either that we are just getting old Jim.. But let's just blame YT on this..
Appreciate both comments! :)
10:50 lijkt op een smoke, 25 ponder. Aan de ontsteker te zien
Denk dat je gelijk hebt (zei René ook al ;-) )
Dank voor je hulp!
Button stick is British pre WW2 possibly WW1 older soldier? . WW2 button stick was more complicated design
So you think it's older than the 1940's? Maybe i came out of an old stock? Because unlike the German forces, I never heard of WW1 British veterans taking part in ww2 (except for the higher ranked Officers)
Sorry Iron Mike, did some research, the more complicated button stick was first issued 1917 and was still in use in 1970 when I enlisted, mine was dated 1956! The one you found was the economy pattern from WW2 when they were short of brass.
Great work gentlemen ..... Glad to see you identify unspent rounds (bombs) and get them exploded by the experts [ I suspect you and Chris could BUT why take any chances ].. Good video, so now be safe, be well and continue to be careful.... waiting for the next video....
hi Ted, I try to stay are far as possible from these. Love my eyes and fingers too much for that.
I'll let the real experts deal with them.
Thanks for dropping by again.
Curious about the video in austria. Cool finds 👍🏼
Coming soon! need to start editing that :)
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting looking forward 👍🏼 Nino (Lords_of_metaldetecting) told me a lot about it
What do you do with most of your finds that aren't Explosive?
Always look forward to your new videos, nice seeing the team work not sure I would handle the bombs as much as you . Will you be back at this location , looks like there is a lot more to discover here.
Hi Donald, I rather not handle them at all, but we need to know what they are before we can report them.
Not sure if we will be back here. Little too much of the explosive stuff there.
Thanks for dropping by!
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting Understood you do whats necessary to protect others ,on the other hand you find the things to remind us what war is like .
Weer een gave video en veel bommen 🤘
teveel bommen! :-s
mike i remember a few months back you posted a video about a finding you werent sure if you could disclose it and you were super excited because you had a theory about your finding i was wondering if you ever released that info? thanks
hey Jake, not sure what find you mean? you can always send me a dm on instagram or an email if you have any questions!
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting i think it had something to do with a plane crash and you were searching somewhere else based off your own predictions i will probably end up messaging you on there

not yet!

So what happens to you if caught keeping the ammo?
Never been caught with it (simply don't take it with me) but can imagine there is a possibility they'll take you to court for it.

He's knob lol 😆
Non so che coperchio è questo
