    Great video as always guys! On the note of Dobes, I'm not too worried about his numbers right now, the Laval defence in front of him has been truly porous! And despite that - in his first pro season of all things - is actually showing strong signs of improvement already.. But between Fowler, Volokhin and Miller as well, the Habs surely have a bright future in net!

    Our best prospect currently not playing in the NHL is Joshua Roy, or perhaps Logan Mailloux. Not coincidentally (and perhaps even part of the reason they haven't been called up by HUGO to fill our injury holes?), both were drafted by Bergevin/Timmins.

      Montreal 's prospects pool is not as insane as other people say...as a matter of fact, the prospect pool is rather full of 3rd and 4th liners. I agree that Joshua ROY is likely their best prosects in the minors, but even the snake Boisvert sees Mailloux as a "B" prospect. Reinbacher seems to their best prospect for defenseman since he is a 5th pick overall, but will likely turn out to be a Jeff Petry. Montreal fucked up at the 2022 and 2023 entry drafts, so no superstars in the making waiting in the pipeline !!!

    • @tonylloy327
      @tonylloy327 Год назад +2

      @@powers1500 I can't help but agree about the glut of 3rd/4th liners. And about HUGO's failings at the entry draft 😒. I do still hold out some hope that Slaf may become a point-per-game kind of player. And that Guhle becomes a solid two-way top-pairing D along the lines of a Chelios or something. That Suzuki continues to grow into a legit #1 center, putting up 80-90 points a year as a Selke candidate type. And that Caufield rounds out into a reliable 40-goal guy. But even if all that optimistically happens, that does not amount to a serious contender, does it? 🤔

    • @powers1500

    Okay, guys. I feel like you're going a bit overboard with this Volokhin comparison to Vasi, Sorokin, etc. He's playing at...what's the equivalent?...Canadian Junior B or Junior C level? Not KHL, for sure. So yes, it *is* "crazy to say that he might jump up in our prospect rankings". Sorry.

    Unlike in North America, junior teams in Europe are directly affiliated to pro teams. In case of Volokhin, he is playing for Mamonty Yugry (Yugra Mamoths) in MHL (as you correctly stated is equivalent of OHL, WHL or QMJHL). His team is affiliated to Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk, VHL team (equivalent to AHL). I am not aware of any formal affiliation to any KHL team. The problem with Volokhin is that he is 4th goalie in club hierarchy. There is 33y old vet splitting tasks with 23y old. 3rd goalie is Yegor Zavragin, 2023 3rd round pick from Flyers, same age as Volokhin, but obviously ranked little bit better both internally within organization or externally (NHL draft). I do not expect him to move up any soon, unless there is some trade happening. BTW, Khanty-Mansiysk is in Siberia where temperature goes as low as -23 Celsius.

  • @tonylloy327
    @tonylloy327 Год назад +3

    Unfortunately, when you ask how many teams are "keeping an eye on" the development of their lower-round picks as much as we are, a big part of that comes because we don't have any really elite draft prospects that we picked when we had the opportunity in the *earlier* rounds. If we did, odds are most of these lower-round picks wouldn't even be worth the discussion. That goes for the Bergevin era *and* the HUGO era, sad to say.

      One of Bergevin's biggest short comings was the fact that he focussed on francophones to fill his management team and front office. There are talented people from all cultures but when you ignore everyone else and focus on hiring from only one group then your talent pool is limited. Then you have to ask the question are you getting the best candidate possible for your team?

      @@georgemayer222 Kent Hughes and Gorton know it’s important to the home fans to have “French speaking” personnel but they don’t let that cripple them Kent speaks both languages but he was hired not for that reason he was hired because Gorton believed he would be a good GM, Bergevin also focused on French players and never wanting to spend cap money on FAs or trading picks to get better and this management won’t be that way. If fans in Montreal want a winning team they are going to have to accept that you need players and personnel from all backgrounds to truly win a cup and Kent Hughes has shown he’s not afraid of the fans and will execute his plan for this team no matter what, Drafted Reinbacher while knowing the fans were crying for another player that was small while the fans completely ignored the fact that Montreal was missing a Number 1 RD which you need by the way to win in this league so Kent Hughes made the hard choice and the right choice to ignore the pressure of the fans and draft Reinbacher. Kent Hughes also knew there was lots of pressure to draft Shane Wright and he knew Montreal was very small and we need a skilled Power Forward winger and he also made the right choice and Drafted Slafkovsky WHILE trading for a Center that will be better than Shane Wright and in my opinion may be just as good as Cooley if Dach can stay healthy reach his potential… Hughes has consistently shown that he can make the hard decisions and the fans that continue to cry will have their heads down when they realize everything Hughes did led this team to a Stanley cup.

      Where is Carolina’s star power? Vegas? If you have a really solid Defence which Montreal will have than you don’t need SUPERSTAR players. We have players like Caufield, Dach Suzuki, Slafkovsky and Roy coming up and Filip Mesar is showing some crazy skill on the OHL. These players are still young this shit takes time lmao doesn’t just happen with a snap of a finger, Slafkovsky has been playing very well lately at 19 years old he has 4 points in 10 games and Cooley has 5 points in 10 games, Slaf could be a very good player, Suzuki is still 24 years old and still has more to give, Kirby Dach is still 22 years old he will come back from his injury and get back on track, Caufield is still 22 years old. It takes more time for some players and lots of scouts are saying Joshua Roy could be a very good top 6 player, Lane Hutson is the type of player we really need because just like Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox and Cale Makar they make their forwards better and get them a bunch of points on the power play and Lane Hutson will be that player for us on the PP, once we have him you’ll see our forwards improve because right now on the power play we don’t have a Quarterback and that stops players like Suzuki and Caufield from getting points because they are defended more. We don’t need a superstar player if we have 4 players in our top 6 that gets 65-90 points and a OFD like Hutson Picking up 55-75 points, I haven’t even mentioned Guhle, Reinbacher, Mallouix. Like I said it takes time and when this team is more experienced and players are actually 24-26 years old they will be more experienced and will be better players most of our players haven’t even reached their peak prime yet so chill 😂, Montreal still needs some size in our top 6 and if Montreal gets a Top 10 pick Cayden Lindstrom looks like he could be a 90-100 point player in the NHL he’s a 6’5 BEAST that can play Center and wing, Has a WICKED One tee and his passing is ELITE! Probably the best passer in the draft other than Catton and Celebrini and Lindstroms shot is probably the best shot in the draft if Eiserman doesn’t exist… Lindstrom is projected to go 10th-6th overall and if Montreal gets him we will have a VERY good player, He’s got 18 goals in 24 games played and 14 assists for 32 points he’s on pace to get 91 points in the WHL 51 goals and 40 assists this kid is a beast and if Montreal drafts him we would be set! And the fans that can’t stop crying about Passing on Michkov will finally stop crying because Lindstrom is the real deal. We are not Dying for a superstar player but if Montreal does get a top 10 pick we will get one and Cayden Lindstrom is that guy he’s just as talented as Berkly Cattom and Ivan Demidov and he is 6’5 which Montreal needs more than anything.
