I don’t think you need to apologize Kiwi. The dealer owes the apology. They sold the car with full knowledge of what disaster it was. It worked out for the customer and that’s the most important thing. Happy Memorial Day.

Seriously. No apology required. Kiwi has proven that he knows what he is doing and he exposed with Tony, a serious violation of trust and honesty. That car and that dealer needed to be called out. If more of them were called out this kind of criminal behavior it might lessen the corrupt dealings. That was not just a car that turned out to be full of Bondo or it had electrical issues. That car could have easily hurt or killed someone and Streetside put their name on it. The video from the dealer is still on-line and you can clearly see when they filmed driving it that it pulled heavily to the right. All of the other defects could clearly be seen by a careful eye. There is no excuse for anyone at all in the auto business not to have seen that there was something very wrong with this car. To keep a thing like this quiet is in essence to be complicit with the poor performance of the dealer. Call 'em out!

Kiwi, the fact that they knew the "quality" (and I use that word quite wrongly) of the restoration and still sold it in that state indicates to me that they would be quite happy ripping a customer off if the opportunity presented itself. While we can never know _with absolute certainty_ that the video made a difference, an honest shop wouldn't have tried to pass that car off as completely restored in the first place, so my money is on the vid helping.
That said, it does place you in an unenviable position, which is a shame. Just remember that, so long as you're being completely honest, then any fallout from it isn't actually your fault. You've merely pointed out a problem that already existed - and in this case, that _they already knew existed_ when they sold the car. Cheers, mate.

I bought a 65 big block Corvette from Streetside about four years ago. It was a frame off restoration. The chassis was spotless and it looked like the car had not been driven at all. They said it was a recent restoration. The first thing that made me wonder was the fact that the Cooper Cobra tires were ten years old but had no wear. I later discovered that all the VBP (who went out of business years ago) suspension bushings were rotted. The brake calipers were leaking. The brake booster leaked vacuum. The Vintage Air needed a need evaporator. The oil pan leaked. The electric fan was not wired properly and the engine over heated. I came to the conclusion that whoever restored the car never drove it and parts deteriorated over the course of ten years from just sitting. Of course I discovered all these problems over the course of months and had no recourse with Streetside. Since they are just a consignment operation I doubt they know anything about the cars they sell beyond what they are told by the seller.

They bragged it up in their listing to gt more money, that tells me it's all about the end dollar for them. I'm glad Tony released it and showed them for what they do.... after reading the comments, they've done this to other people as well, and I feel the only reason they stepped up is because of Tony's video. Let's say your theory is true and that the video that UTG put out is the only reason the dealer did the right thing. Of course, we'll never know because the dealer never got a chance in the first place, but let's just assume that's the case.........
Why put the video back up? The dealer did the right thing, the customer got a full refund, and everyone is happy and going their separate ways. If the video made the dealer fold, why continue bashing them after they did the right thing? Aren't we supposed to REWARD good behavior?
Because UTG isn't interested in a happy ending. UTG is interested in controversy, drama, and most of all, VIEWS. Why? Because more views means HE makes money off of the situation. If the video isn't up, he's not making any money from it.
Kiwi specifically instructed UTG to NOT release the video until the customer talked to the dealer. That's because the customer had all the leverage against the dealer with the threat of exposure if they didn't give him a full refund. UTG threw that leverage out the window, along with his word to Kiwi, for what? So that UTG could make the money off of someone else's misfortune. UTG could care less if the customer got his money back, and this situation proves that.
Let's be real. UTG has zero automotive skills or talent. His channel revolves around him ranting and tinkering around with junk. He gravitates to people like Kiwi because Kiwi actually has REAL skills and talent, and UTG likes to hang around to appear to rub elbows with professionals, all while sucking content from them like a vampire.
Kiwi is just the latest person in a LONG line of people who have appeared on UTG's channel, used for content, and then promptly stabbed in the back. UTG would sell out his own mother if it meant he got a couple pennies to rub together.

The only way this is going to stop is if you expose the dealers. Before a car is taken on consignment, the dealer should have a full blown inspection done. They have the right to deny cars that are shoddy or unsafe and need to be held accountable. Private sellers, who don't use consigners, can handle unsatisfied buyers in court.

Im still glad I was able to show my wife how lucky we are with our 67 Fastback. That car needs a lot of fixes to repair nonsense installation of great parts. Even my stock 289 4V had the torque to pull on those factory shock towers. Mine were repaired on a frame machine and reenforced welded, but it shows that support is needed! Soon, my shock towers go away, too....

Paid 30k for a car worth maybe 10k. His words were, I'm not selling it, just do it. I have no problem with that, but I see so many get too deep in a project they should have avoided. Very quickly. That's the dilemma -- if it's sold for what it's worth ($20,000) another crook will just sell it for $40,000. This is a $40,000 car that needs $20,000 of work to be worth $40,000. Best to just part it out (cutting out the cross-member) so that someone can start again.

First class video. Good to see a good outcome here and Streetside should be commended for doing the right thing. When buying ANY used car it should be checked out. There are a many "flippers" in the private market also. Lots of them. In most states private transactions are as/is, buyer beware. Zero recourse for the consumer. There are laws to protect the consumer when buying from a dealership. Just thought that should be said. And you're 100% correct that we should all watch out for each other. These cars are OLD. They all need some sort of work on any given day. Even a fresh 100% restored car is a tinker toy and never truly "done". They are only new once. You're truly a class act and I wish I were closer just to come by and shake your hand. Keep at it.
