    7/8 is not sitting on the sensor correctly, and I cannot get it loose.

      No it started just fine. Check engine light came on and was getting poor fuel mileage.

      If your engine doesn't start, it's unlikely to be an oxygen sensor issue, because oxygen sensors are not even used on engine start, they come on a bit later (how much later depends on car and sensor), because they need to heat up to working temperature first to give reliable data.
