Much of today's film music is awash in SADNESS. Gone is the JOY and PLAYFULNESS composers like Goldsmith and Williams brought to the table. Blame the sad directors!
Innerspace soundrack is brilliant but the record was very poor, half filled by rockn roll, it didsn't pay justice to this marvellous composer, I am french and I love this man and his music every day !
I'm shocked that anyone writing to Goldsmith would complain about soundtracks... sheesh... no wonder he hated some of his fans. They had no tact... just entitlement.
Well, I don't think so. In fact everything has really changed in a positive way. Nowadays, official film score albums usually contain most of the highlights from the score and also their length have become longer. Today official score albums usually contain an hour of the score or more, while at the time of Goldsmith they were usually around 30 minutes long missing out a lot of important material. So I don't think it's still that bad.
Cool clip, yep that's Sire Fake for sure, circa 90, dig those chops & wooooo nature boy Jerry! Wonder what or where this originated? Love the channel PRM, a goldmine!!

I blame 9/11, but now that's done for kids with disposable income.

Thanks for all your Goldsmith posts. They are awesome
It's true what Jerry Goldsmith says about commercial releases of soundtrack albums and making decisions on scoring.👨👩👧👦📺💻☎🏢🏡🏰🌃🏙🌄🌆🌇
Soundtrack can make or break a movie for me

Not to mention the number of his scores that were rejected.
And in 20 years the way official soundtracks are released hasnt changed one bit. A shame, really.
