This isn’t his last scene. His last scene is later in the show when tony and Carmella are pretending to be happy to meadow and Patrick getting engaged.
This is Arties renaissance. He stops pretending to be a tough guy and rediscovers his passion: cooking. Once he fully re-commits he understands just how lucky he is to with a woman like Charmaine and gets his life back on track. Artie will never have Tony’s money and once he makes peace with that he really evolves as a character

At the 30 second mark when Artie looks at the couple through the door window...he makes the decision to do a good deed for some strangers and cook them a meal. The man's business is in peril, he's been there all day wearing a cast with his beaten face...and he chooses to do something good and selfless. You see Charmaine smile and look at him with pride for making the right call. It's a super small and quick moment but it's all the difference in who Artie is. Artie wins in the end for the everyman and I give the credit to John Ventimiglia for making such a great character you can't help but root for

Tony had gotten through to him after she failed. She also told him to cut the chatter. He rebuffed her Tony reminded him about the storm night and he rebuffed him too. He even wasnt gonna take his advice then he said get back in the kitchen and cook thatd be a start. And in this scene it all clicked, and he finally did right. He saw the couple in exepriencing trouble like Tony did during the storm and he came through for another customer in a very nice moment. A nice end for Artie.
Charmagne definitely does give him a tender look at 0:35. I never noticed. Shes usually nagging him. You rarely see her smile.

Artie may be the most inspirational character. Grew up around the mob, but chose the family business instead. Was never short on balls when it came to standing up to his friends’ shady behavior. Always willing to lend a hand to his friends and their families. He definitely had some blind spots when it came to lust and staying true to his marriage, but he worked through those better than most imperfect men would or probably could. In the end, he was rewarded with a rich life, a wonderful business, and a loving family/community. It’s so easy to romanticize the mob and bring all the attention to the exciting mafioso tropes. God bless David Chase for writing in a character as wonderful as Artie and making him a cornerstone of the entire series.

@@grantfurr580 I don't think so I think him and Patsy conspired with NY to have Tony killed. Paulie was in position to take over but he may have let patsy take the top spot. Chance are they are basically puppet rulers under the thumb of one of the NY families. The family the sopranos is based on basically imploded and one of the NY families moved in and took over their rackets in NJ, so it would be somewhat consistent with the way things really ended up.
