  • In this video I will show you how I got this hood to open on this 2003 Honda Civic. The cable that is responsible for opening the hood was not correctly secured on the hood latch mechanism. Thanks for watching and please consider to join the growth of the channel. Thank you!!

Thank you man! I had to drill through my plastic a little bit to get it out of the way, but after that I was good to go. I never would have figured this out without your help.

Good job, others suggest cutting or drilling the plastic. Even though it is hard to see the ugly shape this leaves the plastic, this is a much better alternative. Appreciate your time.

Helped me out after a job taking a good amount of the front end off. It was like you said, the plastic piece thats part of the cable wasn't in it's place, which is why I didn't have enough tension to undo the latch mechanism. Thanks bro!

My cable was not seized but wouldn’t move if it had pressure on it. Took the bumper off, ripped the grill out and put a zip tie where the cable goes. Doesn’t have a grill but I kinda like it better than way 😎 works flawlessly thanks for the video reference

Thanks for this changed the head gasket and every other gasket on the car and on top of that I changed the radiator and radiator hoses and to remove the radiator I had to take off this latch because it got in the way then after everything was all said and done I slammed the hood and took it for a test run and when I came back the hood wouldn't open and I was going crazy but just got the hard bolt out now the 2 remain this is going to be easy.

I changed everything that had to do with the coolant system, the head gasket and all the other gaskets, grommets and o rings. Now I'm sitting at a Sheetz watching coolant last from somewhere and I can't get to it to fix it because the damn hood won't release.

Thx bro for uploading this! Had the same issue on an EJ6. Didn't think about removing the whole thing but in the end... that solved it! My issue however was not an issue with the cable or the springs. After 26 yrs... these moving parts on the backside of this mechanism just rusted and one day that lever that the cable was attached to didn't move anymore.. at least not by the cable. Some oil solved that too :)
