The N64 version is the most faithful to the arcade version, the movement of the player car on ps1 doesn't look like how they move in the arcade.

Meu Deus do céu...

I'll always be biased toward the N64 version since this is the version I've bought and played for countless hours as a kid. In fact it was the first game I ever bought for my N64 back then, and it was a very fun and cool game which brings memories a distant happy past. And yeah, I still own both console and cartridge.
Sadly I couldn't buy the sequels but I've rented Rush 2 a lot at the time and I've managed to play Rush 2049 on Project 64 on recent times.

The N64 version is one of my favorite racing games on the console in a bit of an ironic way.
It's steering is not sensitive enough and the track design is filled with 90 degree turns but the physics are so exagerated that it doesn't matter.

My Bday arrived and I got the game and my God was it bad, I could not believe it. The load times alone were enough to drive you over the edge but could have been forgiven if the actual game was decent. The biggest problem is how heavy the cars feel. The physics were all wrong, didn't feel like a rush game at all.

The N64 version was a faithful port of the Arcade.
    1. The N64 version had 8 positions compared to the Ps1 pathetic 4.
    2. Also the N64 version had the EXTREME! voice in the car select which was missing the Ps1 version.
    3. Also the cartridge N64 music sounded better the CD based Ps1.
    4. The Ps1's loading time was unbearable. The awful way it looked and sounded it almost seemed you kind of question "What was it loading?" I guess that second of fmv was worth it.
    5. Man the car models on Ps1 looked like you can cut a roast with those edges.

One minute and twenty EIGHT SECONDS from cold boot (actually more cause PS1 has a boot screen lmao) to when you are FINALLY allowed to press start on PS1 meanwhile the mighty Nintendo 64 is just waiting there like:
"dude get with it, come ON!"
The sad thing about the fact that Midway Games had the chance to make these ports is that for those who are unware, these ports were indeed "rushed", especially the Nintendo 64 version since the N64 was being dismissed by the Western gamer media back then because there was this dull bias and sheer ignorance that somehow CD-ROM was "better" than a ROM Cartridge back then but when N64s started selling out like crazy during the christmas season of 1996, all of a sudden certain game companies wanted to make games on N64 and ROM Cartridge format.
It is sad that Midway Games decided to just rush the N64 San Francisco RUSH game and MACE The Dark Age... both those games suffered from being buggy, having audio bugs and crap stereo usage (a result from rushing the game out for the christmas season they were targeting)... both those games could have used more time being developed even if delayed because eventually SF RUSH proved to be a fun arcade port (even though it was severely rushed and buggy and broken) that because it was rushed, was also NOT really tapping the actual power potential of the N64 hardware which just became a common theme for Midway Games. Meanwhile MACE TDA was also buggy, broken and had audio/stereo crap and again, was NOT actually tapping the power of the N64 and fanbase was forming around the N64 game but Midway Games did not even bother to support the fanbase... they DID make the N64 exclusive RUSH 2 cause SF RUSH sold very good even though it was a ROM Cartridge game.
Finally the real kicker here... the arcade original SF RUSH used that USELESS live action FMV "hot girl shaking her head" thing in the arcades and the PlayStation shows it very close to the arcade version but it just exposes how useless that intro or "attract" video was... Plus the fact that the arcade version used a custom closed box PC with the over hyped and over rated 3DFX Voodoo chipset but an early launch and THIRD PARTY effort on N64 (note most early third party PS1 racers could never match 2nd party Ridge Racer level until barely 1996 or two years after launch) which kinda just shows that maybe if Atari Games and Midway Games had used the N64 as their arcade hardware, they could have saved millions and have actually gained the same or better graphics quality while also making way more money as N64 exclusives.

I remember owning both games and being absolutely gob smacked as to how BAD the PlayStation version was, everything from the handling graphics and that absurd load times and lack of polish screamed how much of a cash grab this was. The Nintendo 64 version was buttery smooth and the physics were right in line with the arcade. The graphics may not have been anything to write home about but it had that arcade feel. The Playstation version was the biggest let down as racing games on the PS were for the most part pretty damn good but this game left a very sour taste in my mouth. Even watching it now its hard not to cringe how the PS was so piss poor a port. The PlayStation was very capable of pulling off a good version of Rush but instead it got this slag. What a waste of my 70 bucks back in the day but at least I had the 64 version to make up for it.

I kind of thought the same thing initially, considering the PS1 version was the first I both owned, and played. It seemed like at least a fairly decent port to me back then. I was also kind of confused as to why it got such harsh reviews at the time, and how it was possibly not better than the Nintendo 64 edition? I figured this, considering it had an extra year of development time, while also having CD based software to work with. That was until I actually got my hands on, and played Rush on the N64, and realized it was indeed the true way to go if you wanted to play this fine game on home console for certain all the way without a doubt too!

It is worth noting that the PlayStation aka CD-ROM version was released in 1998 and had the benefit of the latest PS1 dev kit tools while the Nintendo 64 version of SF RUSH was RUSHED out for holidays 1997 mainly because the N64 set huge sales records in North America so instead of Midway Games trying to make a very high quality N64 version, it is very clear that the game was just a cash in for the holiday shoppers... a bad move on Midway Game's part.
Note that despite the hype against ROM Cartridges, the draw distance on the N64 "rushed port" is far longer and the fact that the PS1 port devs ADDED jet airliners and ballon lifts while the the N64 lacks them and iirc the arcade original also lacked them.
Car physics and wind physics is the real problem with the arcade and N64 SF RUSH game as the arcade had a bad reputation and the N64 rushed out port suffers from being unplayable if you actually attempt to do higher difficulty and grand prix mode but it's very clear you can easily get first place on PS1 because the devs made that version much more forgiving... oh well...

N64 wins here. However, for some reason the chronometer in N64 is running faster, so I think one of the games is accelerated or the other is running slower than normal. Anyways, 64 wins in graphics, especially the depth perception and the distant objects, also a more clear track.

Man, I thought they'd look similar, but the N64 version looks like a SEQUEL in the visual quality, even though it came out after the PS1 game, lol. And that huge difference in load times, wow. The only thing the PS1 game might have in its favor is the music. Some of the music in the N64 game annoyed me, tbh, lol.

@@zhizn_snake Not really. That Playstation port is just plain bad with simplified car physics, half the field of cars missing from races, and an inferior 2 player mode. The N64 version has 24 races (6 tracks mirrored and reversed) with increased wind and fog added in when you're doing well in the standings. You can play a 2 player championship through the whole game which is a feature that is still missing from many of today's racing games.

en exclusivos n64 tiene titulos como super smash algo muy loco para su epoca, ps1 algo como crash ctr el cual tuvieron que hackear la consola para poder correrlo con nuevos trucos 3d
