How COOL that he didn't duck the interview question Carl/Daryl/Michonne. I've never seen such a direct answer to a question like that for a show still running. They always want to keep you hanging, and dodge specifics; or else they don't HAVE an answer as they attempt to conceal that their degree of meticulousness of character knowledge and development is not as impressive as legend would suggest. Awesome, this guy.

kitty cat I have been accused of having antisocial personality disorder by certain people in my life, but the thing is that I'm perfectly capable of empathy and sympathy. I'm just way out of tune with my emotions. I don't miss people. I don't really feel anything if people die or if a friend leaves me.
At the same time I feel very strongly about animals and am perfectly capable of missing them and mourning them.

Batman is most definitely a Sociopath. He displays obsessive behavior, has a god complex, and believes (whether right or wrong) that his answer is always right, becoming judge, jury, and executioner (metaphorically) himself. However that doesn't make him evil. Bruce may be sociopathic, but he still has his own moral justice.

He tried to show his sanity but then ended up being diagnosed with being a psychopath. I love everything about this video but I have to point out that while you kind of lump Negan in with other characters you label as psychopaths, he is most certainly a sociopath. As revealed in his origin story, he started out as a normal, everyday husband who, after the loss of his wife and several other travelling companions, snapped and decided to abandon emotion and compassion in exchange for what he thought was strength and superiority over others. Fast forward a couple years, and we meet him on the road as he bashes in Glenn's skull. He didn't find his place in the world because he didn't fit into standard society like psychopaths, the trauma and horror of the new world changed him into who he is when we first see him, a ruthless and undeniably sociopathic dictator.
Same could be said for The Governor as well. He was by all appearances a normal guy until he lost his family.
Good point. We don't know a lot of Joe's back story, but it seems like he was probably a similar type of person, though not necessarily the same type of behavior. The closest I think they might have to a psychopath is Merle, who only really redeems himself at the end. He was obviously involved in a lot of criminal behavior prior to the outbreak and didn't always show a lot of care for Darryl. Other than that redemption, he consistently comes off as the character who only cares about himself.

Sociopathy is characterized by the dark triad: Lack of empathy (often synonymized as psychopathy), narcissism, and Machiavellianism.

Narcissism: An unhealthy obsession with self, seeking pleasure as the ultimate form of self-fulfillment.
Machiavellianism: The concept of "The ends justify the means," or in other words a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve a desired goal.
Obviously, these three traits are a dangerous combo: A person believes they are the most important individual in the world and they deserve pleasure over all other things and people, they are willing to do whatever it takes to obtain that pleasure, and the absence of a sense of empathy for the potentially negative impact on others doesn't prevent their actions.
Psychopathy (not the empathy-synonym version) is characterized by the dark TETRAD, adding a single trait to the dark triad listed above: Sadism.
Again, they want pleasure for themselves, they will do whatever it takes to obtain that pleasure, and they feel neither guilt nor remorse for what they do, and to top it all off, the thing that brings them the greatest pleasure of all is causing harm to others, which is sadism.
That's why most serial killers are psychopaths, not sociopaths: They have to hurt others to experience the dopamine rush they so desperately crave, and their sadistic tendencies grow--usually from harming animals to more severe actions to more human victim--as their addiction to the dopamine grows. They have to cause more pain to experience the rush they seek. Eventually, a sadist will have to stop, or take that final step to killing to fulfill their desires.
That's the understanding I have from studying abnormal psychology. I may be wrong, but I like this video regardless. :)
Well you see the problem is that sadism requires empathy and most part of psycopaths does not have any bit of empathy at all so there are indeed psycopaths who are sadists but these make up only 1% of the psycopath population.
Depending on the end it can justify the beginning though.
Another thing is that both sociopathy and psychopathy fall on a spectrum, making some cases worse for others.

Mosquitos wouldn't kill them because the zombie infection isn't fatal. They are all already infected and haven't died to the mosquitos aren't going to change that. What kills them after the zombie bite is the infection caused by the microbes in the zombie's flesh.

Ian Sumallo Well I do archery, and while those traditional japanese longbows are indeed more complicated and slower to handle, they still only Takes a Few seconds and therefore be fast enough simply for the reason that getting Hit by an arrow and just brushing it of is nothing but Hollywood makebelieve. Vikings were Not mythical super Warriors, if you get Hit by an arrow in the Battlefield you were pretty much done for.
Vikings and Knights wore Chainmail with gambersons underneath. Sure, you could say Vikings and Knights are just human, but the low draw weight Japanese yumis are not able to pierce through riveted chainmails and thickly layered gambersons.
On top of that, I don't even think Japanese mounted archers would be able to hurt them in any way because Viking Skoldrs and European Kite shields are just too effective in blocking any kind of projectile as either shields were highly capable of protecting the entire body.

The reason why Negan works over others so much more is that he *does* display altruism, and understands that he has to give to save his ass. It's why people worship him so much. You can see him do it, doling out random gifts to both his friends and his enemies, rewarding them for their efforts when it's due.
Actually that is not the definition of altruism. Altruism means doing good for its own sake, not desiring or expecting anything in return. Negan is giving out gifts and rewards as a kind of positive reinforcement. It's a psychological technique similar to giving a dog a treat after it does what you want it to do, to train it to continue doing those things that you want it to do. That is definitely not altruism.
Altruism doesn't exist of course though, just a basic knowledge of evolution tells you genes which tell somebody to do things which benefit somebody else (and thus will almost certainly disadvantage them) will NOT get passed on, it's just not a good survival instinct. I mean sure in the modern day evolution is kind of fucked up as we've turned it into survival of everybody but I still seriously doubt true altruism has or ever will exist.

In season eight (spoilers) you see home cooperating with Gabriel to escape the trailer thing that was surrounded by walkers so he does do teamwork when it's due and he does have emotions over others (spoilers once again) but when carl died in Season 8 you can tell it took him off guard because he really like the kid, he also showed sadness when he was talking about his and how she passed, he isn't a physchopath but rather someone who wants to survive and have the best supplies for his people and rules apply when u have such a big group.

I beg to differ with your conclusion. As a person who knows sociopaths, Ive had time to personally discuss what they believe. Now from what I gather they don't feel the emotions, but they can reason and use others without jeopardizing themselves. So in survival they would work well as a leader who controls but is not too controlling. I personally believe the Walking Dead show is over exaggerating there nepotism as in actuality its more like a extreme Pride. Please correct me if you believe me wrong.

True I could never delve into the minds of others. However, I will stand by the point I made prior as I do believe the show inaccurately depicts sociopathy. See the show needs a villain and a hero, that's just how the Hero's Journey goes. So the show produces a villain that nobody wants to agree on being, that means actual psychopaths. Well, what I'm trying to get at is Are we TRUELY looking into the mind of psychopaths? /or is it just the convoluted view of the writers who need a villain? And as aforementioned no psychopaths would reasonably agree to be this horrendous rendition created by the writers. So in short, NO I personally can't speak for actual psychopaths but for MatPat to say this is incriminating evidence towards an evolutionary standpoint is obscured because the evidence could be doctored in many ways.
Honestly I don't agree with matpat's evolutionary theory of socipathy is worse off overall either mainly because as a sociopath whose only out for yourself you understand it'd be more helpful in a group due to the higher chances of survival and you can rationally make the decision for taking the path of group survival rather than through things like empathy. onwards in that way you could also make the decision that others wellbieng improves your chances too leading to you trying to help more or stuff like that. That scene with the person refusing the spear wouldn't work like that in RL most of the time i would think, hell even with the more egotistical ones that wouldn't go for the group path they'd take the spear then kill the dude that gave it to them.
I agree in a similar sense, as it's true sociopaths aren't capable of feeling emotions but it doesn't mean they are parading death machines that don't give a shit. They still have to worry about their own being and in the zombie scenario given I don't believe sociopaths would ideally kill valuable allies. Now I do agree they would be more likely to kill those who would harm the group the sociopath is with, and I do believe they would easily become leaders due to this trait. However, I don't believe they would dictate. Now that's my personal speculation on the matter but as I mentioned prior: NO sociopath would agree to either side of the debate (unless with concealed identity), also falsifies could damage the actuality of the real sociopaths' testaments. So in regards to the evolutionary jargon, I have to point out the blatant flaws. Still, like you MatPat, but I don't believe the evidence can be correctly verified and that your statements, as a result, are NOT true.
As someone who's confident they're a psychopath because I show almost every symptom (from crying as a baby when my own mother held me to not crying as my family has died to telling people what they want to hear so they like me to preferring pinstriped suits, I'm just waiting for a brain scan to prove it but I'm not exactly willing to be labeled antisocial), let me tell you I could definitely survive with a group of people without being in charge. MatPat seems to assume Antisocial people are machines, when we're little different than a normal person, it's just harder for us to think about other people's emotions. An Antisocial person can still use logic and reasoning, they'll know when to take control and when to sit back and not draw attention to themselves.
