That seals the deal. I am no longer a Seattle Kraken fan. I've been a season ticket holder since 2021 and have never been this disappointed. I'm moving my fandom to the Carolina Panthers where they know how to run a hockey team.
Dave Hakstol is a good coach when he works with younger players. He built really good teams at UND and I believe he can be good coaching this roster built from scratch.
Hearing Tanev picked broke my heart. Outside of the big three Tanev was by far my favorite player. Loved the energy he brought to the team. Hope he does well in Seattle

Hey, the Seattle Kraken made it to there first Stanley Cup play-off in 2023, and even defeated the defending champions Colorado Avalanche in 1st round AND pushed the Dallas Stars to a full 7 game series. All in all the franchise moves on stronger then what many expected from them this early on in there short & recent history in the NHL.
Honestly of the 30 picks selected, I say 4-5 were very questionable. I think this team's ceiling is a wildcard team if everything goes right so far. This is pending FA this year

As a Seattle sports fan, I'm so anxious to have another sports team to root for alongside the Mariners and Seahawks. The one thing missing now is for the NBA to expand and bring back the Supersonics. I look forward to the Kraken's awakening on October 12.

As a WHL (Everett Silvertips) fan in the Seattle area, I really appreciate these insights into our new NHL team, because I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to NHL at the moment. I'm new to Hockey. I just started watching this year. I don't really have a favorite team, so, I think with both myself and the Kraken being new to hockey, I will cheer for them. My buddy also did a lot of the welding in their new stadium. And I grew up in a neighboring state so it works out.
I'm actually fine with McCann being taken over Kerfoot. The way I see it is we payed Pittsburgh Hallander and a 7th for Kerfoot not to be taken. If we were to pay Seattle to not take Kerfoot, they would want much more.
but toronto needs scoring depth. if you leave holl exposed and they take him you still have rielly, brodie, muzzin, dermott as your top 4. plus now you have spots for both sandin and liljegren. keeping both mccann and kerfoot gives the leafs their 1st line LW and 3rd line (and penalty killing) center. i would agree with your logic IF the leafs had good forward depth. but they dont. they dont need one of mccann and kerfoot, they need both
@fitzy Exposing Hull would’ve been dumb... a top 4 D making change who can actually play defence. Travis Dermott sucks and can’t play top 4 minutes as well as PK. Toronto needs help on defence, they don’t need help scoring. They’d be worse without Hull just to keep McCann. They need to resign Bogosian somehow and get Nick Robertson playing top 9 minutes.

Benning's move was very good for a weak Pacific Division, LVGK will run away with it. Second place becomes a strong possibility and likely gains them a playoff spot. Top six is complete, third line centre hole filled with Dickinson and on Defense their top two pairing has been solved too....Thier core of young talent is amongst the best in the conference.
Even with Price staying put, the Canadiens are in a tough spot now that they're going back to the Atlantic. The Lightning and Panthers aren't going anywhere for a few years so they gotta pray for Boston and/or Toronto to collapse.

These new expansion teams making the playoffs in their first and second years of existence kinda speaks volumes about how poorly ran some of the other organizations are ran.
The night of the draft on a whim I put together Seattle's expansion draft roster as an NHL 21 create-a-team. According to the geniuses at EA, the draft Kraken have an offensive rating of 81 (tied with New Jersey for _worst_ in the NHL), a defense of 87 (middle-of-the-pack) and an 83 goaltending (below-average). Then I simmed first an exhibiton game then a full season with them. In the game, against Vegas, they took an early 4-0 lead, blew it in the 3rd, then came back to tie it at 6-6 after regulation, and Seattle won in a shootout. (Shots: 39-23 Vegas.) In the season (replacing Vegas, because god forbid they let us do 32-team seasons), they started strong, winning 6 straight out of the gate... before treading water for the rest of the 1st half and totally falling apart come January; final record: 35-41-6. Eberle was their leading scorer with 27 goals and 58 points; like the team he was on PPG pace until January before disappearing after that. Of course this game then proceeded to spit out a Calgary vs. Toronto Stanley Cup Finals, with Toronto winning, so _maybe_ take these findings with a grain of salt, lmao
Bayreuther this year has been excellent depth for CBJ despite our current skid. Guys consistent and has been a solid value bottom 6er who’s put up some good assists. Every time he does something, we spam “kraken legend Bayreuther” in the mentioned tweet and he seems to embrace that lol Kraken should’ve kept him, if you think about it. He would’ve done some good stuff for them! But glad we got him in Columbus.

I'm new to Hockey. I just started watching this year. I don't really have a favorite team, so, I think with both myself and the Kraken being new to hockey, I will cheer for them. My buddy also did a lot of the welding in their new stadium. And I grew up in a neighboring state so it works out.

I'm actually fine with McCann being taken over Kerfoot. The way I see it is we payed Pittsburgh Hallander and a 7th for Kerfoot not to be taken. If we were to pay Seattle to not take Kerfoot, they would want much more.
but toronto needs scoring depth. if you leave holl exposed and they take him you still have rielly, brodie, muzzin, dermott as your top 4. plus now you have spots for both sandin and liljegren. keeping both mccann and kerfoot gives the leafs their 1st line LW and 3rd line (and penalty killing) center. i would agree with your logic IF the leafs had good forward depth. but they dont. they dont need one of mccann and kerfoot, they need both

Exposing Hull would’ve been dumb... a top 4 D making change who can actually play defence. Travis Dermott sucks and can’t play top 4 minutes as well as PK. Toronto needs help on defence, they don’t need help scoring. They’d be worse without Hull just to keep McCann. They need to resign Bogosian somehow and get Nick Robertson playing top 9 minutes.

I think they try to be aggressive at addressing the center position. Danault and Krejci are pieces to look for here.
Benning's move was very good for a weak Pacific Division, LVGK will run away with it. Second place becomes a strong possibility and likely gains them a playoff spot. Top six is complete, third line centre hole filled with Dickinson and on Defense their top two pairing has been solved too....Thier core of young talent is amongst the best in the conference.
Seattle have good teams in Football Soccer and who knows if the Krakens will work out but I’m excited to see how it rolls out

These new expansion teams making the playoffs in their first and second years of existence kinda speaks volumes about how poorly ran some of the other organizations are ran.
The night of the draft on a whim I put together Seattle's expansion draft roster as an NHL 21 create-a-team. According to the geniuses at EA, the draft Kraken have an offensive rating of 81 (tied with New Jersey for _worst_ in the NHL), a defense of 87 (middle-of-the-pack) and an 83 goaltending (below-average).
Then I simmed first an exhibiton game then a full season with them. In the game, against Vegas, they took an early 4-0 lead, blew it in the 3rd, then came back to tie it at 6-6 after regulation, and Seattle won in a shootout. (Shots: 39-23 Vegas.) In the season (replacing Vegas, because god forbid they let us do 32-team seasons), they started strong, winning 6 straight out of the gate... before treading water for the rest of the 1st half and totally falling apart come January; final record: 35-41-6. Eberle was their leading scorer with 27 goals and 58 points; like the team he was on PPG pace until January before disappearing after that.
Of course this game then proceeded to spit out a Calgary vs. Toronto Stanley Cup Finals, with Toronto winning, so _maybe_ take these findings with a grain of salt, lmao

Bayreuther this year has been excellent depth for CBJ despite our current skid. Guys consistent and has been a solid value bottom 6er who’s put up some good assists. Every time he does something, we spam “kraken legend Bayreuther” in the mentioned tweet and he seems to embrace that lol
