Sitting here as a 20 year old reading all these comments from reminiscing 30-40 year olds, you guys were all so lucky to live through this era of music I can’t imagine what it would be like talking to my friends about this type of stuff when it came out
Yes we lived through great music. I’m 51. But the best music was the 60’s. Jimmi Hendrix, Beetles ( referred to in this song, Strawberry fields), Bob Dylan etc. real music in this and the previous era’s. So wonderful that you appreciate real music with real instruments, not all computer. Take care. This is a great band and song.

Difference is then to now, everybody understood this was their era and embraced it fully. They knew their parents had the 60’s - 70’s as theirs so they had the mentality of “this is my era”. Nowadays you got people wishing they were living in the 80’s or 90’s, I admit I’m one of them but nobody sees this as a time they want to look back on in future and go “we made the most of it”. That’s the problem with this time.

It is still out there it just doesn't have as much commercial success anymore. The 90s were a special time where people appreciated an honest pure performance more than I feel like they do today where the world is so manufactured.
@@loganpaul9759The problem is we didn't have to widen our horizons back then. Today, front and center is all the garbage, if we have to find all the hidden gems, we'll just revert to what we already love. 70s/80s/90s. No shortage of legends there.

I believe the best era for music was 1920s when jazz was at its peak. The music had so much emotion that just isn’t captured these days in modern songs

Time goes by so fast . I remember being seeing Bush back in 98 and I was about 26 or so. Almost 50 now . Can’t believe how fast life has gone by.
That’s interesting because I’ve had some great times, I was in my teens in the 90s but life has gone quite slowly for me. Everyone says it goes fast but I’ve been through so much and I’m not even 40 yet

I’ve never been out of the country because fear of flying but I’ve literally drove almost every hwy in America and seen every major city . My favorite place I’ve ever been is in the mountains of Tennessee in Gatlinburg . That’s my hometown . But just seems like yesterday I was a teenager . From 25 to 50 has literally flown by so fast my head is still spinning . After 50 you start having little medical problems and next thing you know your having stress tests and colonoscopies every year . In reality I’ve probably only got a short time left on this earth and still haven’t done anything with my life that I can say I’m proud of . I’ve helped a few people along the way but I’ve not left a mark on the world and I’ll be forgotten after I’m gone . The worst thing ever is to be close to death and realize all you’ve done your whole life is worry about death .

I sit here listening to music before bed reminiscing about how life went by so quickly. I’m 40 but remember rushing to the mall to buy this CD when it first came out. Seems like yesterday. Hope you all are doing well. God bless

I played this album over and over... and maybe had a slight crush on Gavin. 🥰Remember watching Woodstock ‘99 turn into mass hysteria when they set it on fire? I remember watching it live at my friends house on MTV. Crazy. Glad you’re doing well!

This song went viral before viral was even a pop culture term. The 90s were an amazing time to be a teenager. There was a balance between technology and life, MTV still played music videos (at least up to mid 90s), two stroke dominated off road, the list goes on.
I remember racing to the mall in '95 when Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness came out. The line at Sam Goody stretched outside. Waited for almost three hours, line barely budged and they sold out all CDs and cassette copies. Total bummer that I didn't get my CD but as I look back, it was one of the many adventures I had and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I remember when I got this album, I was probably around 10 years old,lol, and my grandma and I went to Strawberries (remember Strawberries,guys?)and I picked this and Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins.
I went home and ripped those CDs open-it was hard,all that plastic-and stared at the art and the lyrics on the inserts while I let them play. I’ve been listening ever since.
This feels like the closing credits to the 90s. I’m infinitely grateful to have experienced it. 15 in 1990, 25 in 2000. World changes forever in 2001 and all that’s left is memories and the feelings that rise when you hear something like this from that time. What a beautiful time to have been alive.

I never liked this song much, but hearing it now and feeling the nostalgia of my youth makes me sad.
I was visiting my mom at the time she was watching Woodstock 99 and lived through the first Woodstock. This performance came on and I said WOW, never heard of Bush.
I had heard of the band that I had no idea what they played back then when I saw this I was blown away

I have had this song in my head since it came out.
The whole crowd had been raging and destructive all day. It cools off and the sun goes down, stops raining, and all 200,000ppl come to one stage. No way one guy a guitar and a cello could bring them all back together, captivated, and calmed down and singing in unison…. Except Gavin
i have been watching this video for years and have hesitated to comment, it's an incredible performance that should survive. people should be able to hear this for all of time. i hope all we do here, now, is not in vain, we cannot be forgotten. we did more than anybody in the history of the world. feel good people before you breath that last breath.

90’s music was so underrated, listening to it now how I wish I would have appreciated it more, absolutely great music from the 90’s bands
The music was brilliant, the same tunes could be smashed out quickly or played acoustic and still sounded awesome. Lyrics were deep, probably more so than we realised at the time. Good times.
Support them by getting their new Album! Bush is one of the 90's big ones, Gavin's legendary voice takes you back. Just saw them last night Aug 2023. Gavin killed it, performance wise the band had incredible presence, clarity, and their new stuff is evolved and fresh and full of that dark grunge dramatic 'Bush' feel.

Honored that I was there to witness this. Don't believe the documentaries, it was an unbelievably awesome event for thousands and thousands of us. James Brown opened, Jamiroquai, The Roots, Dave Matthews, Rusted Root, Rage, Chili Peppers, Counting Crows, Jewel, etc etc. Raves in the airplane hangers after concerts, drum circle after rave, then concerts started up again. You could have a blast for 72 hours straight if u wanted=~'
Fact that he brought the crowd down to this after Korn is unbelievable on stage power one man one guitar, speaking one on one to over quater billion people. Unreal
All those people, and you can still hear Gavin and the guitar perfectly. I can't believe there aren't 10,000 idiots screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs ruining this song and the moment.

I just saw them in concert last night it is unbelievable how charismatic Gavin is he ran through the crowd for all his fans to get close to him as he sang when he played this song there was a magical feeling to the room as we all sung back to him I'll never forget going to this concert he still sounds basically the same as he did here I feel in the next 20 years he will be remembered as one of the main faces of alternative rock /grunge

You mean him standing in front of a microphone singing and playing the guitar? I hardly think Kurt Cobain was the first to do this. In fact, Kurt tended to be a bit more energetic and less static on stage.
@@pacman1789 If that is really the only overlap you see, that is fine. I disagree, though. Watching 1993 In Utero concerts gives me a very similar vibe to this. Mostly quite static, but with a certain dramatic tendency to it. Hard to explain for me in English. But hey, everyone gets their own opinion!

@@shotgunshawzy Ex-wife and secondly you act like Bush isn't a thing anymore, yet they are. Plus, Bush sounds nothing like Nirvana, musically they have two distinct styles, just the same genre. Influenced by and being a copy or clone are two completely different things. Of course a band in the same genre that is influenced by other similar bands is going to have a lot of that in their sound. Bush, however, did find more of their own sound and carved their own path in the annals of musical history. I think you have some things you need to work out though. I mean you can't be this worked up over just a RUclips comment.

BUSH, LIVE, STP, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Counting Crows, The Offspring, Candlebox, Collective Soul, Green Day, NIN, R.E.M., U2, Third Eye Blind and so many more. Just fantastic music and brings back so many memories of my early 20s. I still remember discovering a few of these bands while I was in the Persian Gulf in 91. I bought Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and RHCCP new CDs at the same time and little did I know what I was in store for. I was just hearing about some of them on MTV at the time and went ahead and bought them. I had already known about RHCCP from 120 minutes years before and had some previous stuff. What awesome memories!
