The problem with RE 2 is that the paths didn’t cross enough and the paths ignore what the other character did. Especially regarding Anette. Great game otherwise

I love this game, childhood all the way, love the level in little details that make it real and fun to play, like being able to completely torn apart zombies LOL I absolutely love the deeper stories for the secondary characters: Kendo, Ada, Sherry, and Marvin. That was really awesome and felt more real and deep and actually had an impact on the player. But I really don't understand why they did the thingy with runs. For me, it just messes the whole story. As he said, it's like the scenarios are completely parallel and aren't even linked to each other, even tho we do pass through there with both characters. In the second run, not only we get later to the police station, (even tho it seems we get there first cuz the cut intro) but the Birkin bosses really messed the complete storyline for me. I just don't even know what really happened anymore, and that kinda ticks me off. And it doesn't happen once, but three times we battle Birkin in all 4 runs and it's just the same thing. In RE2(98) scenario B, we got there first because we literally start in the backyard of the R.P.D, that's why we could see what actually happened to the helicopter, meet Mr.X and find the other character around the stars office. In this second run? We literally start in the R.P.D. grounds and somehow we get later than the character in the first run, which has pretty much all the R.P.D explored already. And when we get to the main hall, Marvin is already a zombie, which means the other character has already left to the garage, so, wtf. (Plus reused Mr.X helicopter apparition in both runs? Tho pretty awesome introduction, but yeah, reused for all runs.) I really can't seem to understand the timing. IDK, they should have made us run around the city a bit or something to truly understand why is it we get there so late. Or at least, take a similar route like in the first run to get to the police department and have the character in the first run start real close to the station or something, like in the original. If they wanted realism, it's weird they just left all those loopholes around everywhere, it just messes the story and it felt weird that Capcom didn't foolproof that. I mean, if the original one made 20 years earlier with a team of like 50 people has a better main storyline that actually has all those little details kinda resolved than one remade in 2019 by + 800 people, IDK, man. It feels weird. If the runs were a bit more linked to each others' line might have been more immersive and easy to understand. Tho, in this RE2 it seems there's not a canon storyline either; all events are already there in both runs and they still happen in all runs. (Different than the original: in Claire B, Sherry never got infected, that's why Claire A was the Canon Scenario.) In the end, Capcom didn't lie, they did get rid of the Zapping System from the original because the story for both characters is the same in both runs, the only difference is we get to battle Final Birkin and see the real ending. Talking about endings, the one in the first run is kinda dry and really sudden. I was like "wut" when the screen went black and the credits started rolling LOL IDK, in RE2(98) it was kinda bittersweet and cute and it actually worked as a stand-alone ending. I missed the cheesy cute dialog between Claire & Sherry or Leon's last goodbye to Ada. I don't know, in summary, I think they left out some details that might have improved the whole experience and made it way better than the original one, (like what they did in REmake) which always seems a hard thing to do, but I just think it's a missed opportunity. There were so many callbacks and nostalgic things in this game that made it awesome, but there were some that I truly wanted to see remade too and I really missed those ones. BTW, 4TW the old intro. I did miss the car crashing doing a 180º to get the character to scenario B LOL But the intro by itself was pretty neat and that first zombie was brutal. Still the RE2 we all love. I'm just so glad Capcom finally listened to us, after like, 17 years asking for a RE2 remake LOL I guess all new things do compensate for the old missing ones, tho nostalgia always kinda wins.
Also when you play Claire B, when she goes to rescue Sherry under the orphanage, he bursts through the wall and starts to chase them and that's when Wiliiam kills him off and then Sherry and Claire fall on the elevator to the sewers.
the missing the headshot thing is a staple of horror games lol happens to me too all the time, itls like the game knows what you are thinking and just makes you miss, somewere inside the console you can hear a faint HAHAhaha ...
I feel like there were some Tyrant crashing through the wall moments. Maybe I'm wrong? In either case, I personally like hearing the footsteps. It allows better assessment of how far away Tyrant is and I feel it creates more suspense/tension as opposed to not knowing at all and BOOM!-there he is!
I kind of get a few shots in the body, maybe one or two in the legs or a bunch if I want to slow them down, or I can go for the head once they’re down. I might try using the knife more though for when a zombie is down.
@@BabysitterSky try 6-8 hours on a normal playthrough. Then there's the B scenarios, and the unlockable Hunk and Tofu modes. Then there's three mini campaigns coming as free DLC. Then there's costumes and codes to unlock.
Oh boy, I remember playing this game a couple of months ago as Claire in Scenario A and somehow I managed to get through the stuff until Mr. X popped up and then I was out. Yesterday I attempted to give this another try and I swear, I'm still only collecting the medallion but my soul leaves my body at every spooky point. This game is literally scary, even though I'm playing through the initial part the second time! God, not going to quit this time, tho my gameplay has improved, I'm stabbing the zombies 100 times to make sure they don't get up again to save some ammo for later, cause last time I was out of ammo before anything died. I really went in thinking it was like RE4. But, I really do wanna finish this goddamn piece of art now!
Love the original RE2. One of, if not, my favorite game of all time. Loved RE1 and the REmake too. But I'm a casual gamer nowadays. Worried that I won't be able to handle the new game. I've bought too many games that I never beat. Gonna rent it first.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. It controls like a typical third person shooter, and the campaigns are probably 6 hours long on average, though I heard you can complete it in as little as 4 hours. You can always take a break from the game after beating one of its four campaigns, and it stays pretty faithful to the original, if you're worried they changed it too much.
@@lordthruxawe504 No that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried about the unscripted constant presence of Mr X. And the fact that the zombies are a constant presence that you have to board up windows to keep them from constantly refilling the rooms and there not being enough boards to actually completely stop them from coming in.
@@orinanime both of those issues aren't really a deal breaker. You are doing yourself a disservice if you haven't gotten this yet. I love this game as much as you do
It seems everyone and their grandmothers are playing this game. And they should, because its awesometacular! Trying to achieve S+ Rank on Hardcore is a bloody pain, but I'll get it.
It's possible to nail it in like 2:20hrs. I'd recommend playing Standard again to look for exploits. There are actually large portions of the game and ambushes that can be avoided by interacting with certain objects and then returning to the area you were from. If I remember a few of them (haven't touched the game in a few days as I've been binging Hollow Knight) I'll put them here. Couple tips though: max out your camera speed and field of vision. It makes bosses tons easier. Get used to storing as many herbs as possible and trust yourself to get through sections without relying on health pickups. I had like 8 combined herbs by the time I got to G Stage-3. DO NOT WASTE YOUR SHOTGUN AMMO because it is a Godsend in later sections. ALWAYS keep a knife on you. The Ivy monsters in the lab section are an absolute B---- if you're not prepared enough. Also - the most important - plan your run. Make note of all solutions you've come across to puzzles. Pause the game as much as you need as it takes no time up off your run whereas the inventory does. Don't go for any of the gun upgrades. It will waste more time than you probably realise (with the exception of the Shotty upgrade in Kendo's Gun Shop). Also, save magnum rounds for G Stage-3. Tyrant is actually really easy, so keep your handgun ammo for that. G Stage-3: Magnum shots to the eyeballs and attack the chest with shotgun ammo. Keep your distance and run circles around him. I don't mean to patronise but I figured more people struggling to get S/S+ ranks could use some tips! Good luck
There is a part where Mr X can crash through the wall, ive seen some people play and not have it happen and some who did, i had it happen when i played and it scared me so much.

And when we get to the main hall, Marvin is already a zombie, which means the other character has already left to the garage, so, wtf. (Plus reused Mr.X helicopter apparition in both runs? Tho pretty awesome introduction, but yeah, reused for all runs.)
I really can't seem to understand the timing.
(Different than the original: in Claire B, Sherry never got infected, that's why Claire A was the Canon Scenario.)
In the end, Capcom didn't lie, they did get rid of the Zapping System from the original because the story for both characters is the same in both runs, the only difference is we get to battle Final Birkin and see the real ending. Talking about endings, the one in the first run is kinda dry and really sudden. I was like "wut" when the screen went black and the credits started rolling LOL
IDK, in RE2(98) it was kinda bittersweet and cute and it actually worked as a stand-alone ending.
I have seen Mr X crash thru the wall on your way back from visiting the interrogation room.
Jeremy grew up with Resident Evil
Uh no shit?
Don't you mean Chris Stuckmann grew up with resident evil 2

👀
Praise Be Capcom,
Delivery us Dino Crisis and more Onimusha pretty pretty please.
Loved the video Jeremy, some of my favorite stuff you've ever done. That zombie shooting skit is so accurate.
That aiming skit with the unnatural breathing had my dying lol I always complained about this! It's good to know I wasn't the only one
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but the Tyrant does bust through certain walls if you play Leon first.
Also when you play Claire B, when she goes to rescue Sherry under the orphanage, he bursts through the wall and starts to chase them and that's when Wiliiam kills him off and then Sherry and Claire fall on the elevator to the sewers.
In fact, Mr. X DOES crash walls! It happen when your in the back of the conference hall D;
the missing the headshot thing is a staple of horror games lol happens to me too all the time, itls like the game knows what you are thinking and just makes you miss, somewere inside the console you can hear a faint HAHAhaha ...
Really miss your game reviews. Love you Jeremy. From Issaquah, WA

It'll probably never happen sadly
Good graphics, good open world, ancient quest design. Rockstar need to improve.
7/10.
There you go.
@fcukugimmeausername
*good* open world???????
@sudha bhatt terrible story, ancient quest design. It's a pretty rockstar game. It took zero chances, that's why it didn't win game of the year.
@@yaboytroy357 Yes? Good? Great maybe.
Not John there is. He bust through some walls. Haha.. he just didnt experience that part. Its scary. Haha
3:26 Someone please make a GIF out of this.
Single-handedly the best thumbnail I've seen for the Resident Evil review
This game was so much fun. I loved it as much as I loved RE4. Just as scary, just as well paced, gorgeous, and immersive to the max.
Jeremy Jahns: "It's 'Dawn of the Dead' meets 'The Thing'."
Me: "I always thought it was 'Aliens' meets 'The Terminator' & 'T2: Judgement Day'."
that zombie skit made me piss my self 😂🤣
OMG I felt that on a spiritual level.
Shit my first playthrough took me 14 hours, It was Leon A on Hardcore, I just went into it blind but I really took my time and enjoyed it.
Lol I was ctfu when he was trying to line up that headshot! I like the cutaways you added to this video, well done.
Loved it! Well done, the atmosphere, the tone, the feel! Resident evil!
2:28 67% of the time in my playthroughs.
I always go for the legs I’m I the only one ?
I kind of get a few shots in the body, maybe one or two in the legs or a bunch if I want to slow them down, or I can go for the head once they’re down. I might try using the knife more though for when a zombie is down.
how mind-blowing, these old games allows two character with two gameplay (stories) without being a DLC.
That you could beat in like 2 hours.....yup....
Kevin Strom That's only if you speedrun it.
Its like 3-4 hours
@@BabysitterSky try 6-8 hours on a normal playthrough. Then there's the B scenarios, and the unlockable Hunk and Tofu modes. Then there's three mini campaigns coming as free DLC. Then there's costumes and codes to unlock.
It took me 8 hours in my first try as Leon A tbh
You wer almost a jil samwich!
Your right!
Now they need to do Resident Evil 3 with Jill wearing that Dino Crisis outfit.
I'm really liking these little skits, Jeremy. Don't know if this is new for you, but they were really effective and funny in this video.
Finished both campaigns on Hardcore.. that was a genuine survival horror experience!
G3.. Birkin.. Oh god, I actually survived and finished him with my LAST bullet! Even uploaded it I was in sheer disbelief!
“Down with the thiccness” 😂😂😂
Uh dude Mr X does crash through the wall in this game... I've only seen it in Leon's playthrough though!!
Great review man. Btw the tyrant did bust through the wall playing as Leon. This game is pure nostalgia.
Lmfaoo that thumbnail tho
@@lordthruxawe504
No that's not what I'm worried about.

Good luck
@@tarinmatoo9470 Easier said than done.
@@anthonyortiz3142 hence I gave some tips.

Mr x knows about the saiyan curse.
yeah that tyrant DEFINANTLEY crashes through walls, almost bit my tongue off when he did.

Should definitely do small funny skits in future videos. The zombie dodging the cross hair was hilarious.
2.27 that little skit just made my day.
3:26 how to slice bread
There is a part where Mr X can crash through the wall, ive seen some people play and not have it happen and some who did, i had it happen when i played and it scared me so much.
Yup. Remìnds me of Re7's Jack breaking the wall to get you.

Did you fix that dam door yet??!!!
DUDE!!! 2:30 is accurate as heck. I’d have a zombie lined up only for it to shift its head at the last moment...it’s insane haha. Not to mention it’s about to be the blow that explodes their head, but then you miss. It’s like they’re doing that on purpose, I swear man.
I went through Leon first then Claire B and as you said even though you are familiar with the places you go, it still doesn’t cease to be intense. Especially when you think something is going to be a certain place and it’s not, so you relax just a bit, then....
This was truly a great game and I’m looking forward to going through it one more time.
And you’re right, Claire is thicc and that outfit is pretty great in general.
Great review Jermey.
I had one of those moments with Mr. X like, “In this moment, he knew, he fucked up...”
