I really appreciate your video. Before I started cutting, I thought, let's just gently whack the housing with a hammer a few times and maybe dislodge the fragment that is binding everything up. I did, and it worked!
Lol After watching the video I didn't have the tools or the means to cut this in half so I got furious with it and started beating on it with a hammer and I was finally able to loosen up the internals to turn it.
I have a question. I'm in that spot right now. And after watching about 4 videos covering the same thing in each one. There were also very easy to figure out shots of where the safety latch goes upward into the aluminum housing I'm thinking I just drill a 7/16 hole right over the top of it push it down and you don't have to turn the key push in on the safety and out it should come then you just have a hole over it and can re use it if needed . But most all Ive seen they keep the housing and just replace the key and lock cylinder . The housing. I'm really not sure which one has gone bad in my Jetta but I should know in about a half hour
If need to take screws out for ignition cylinder drill with Hercules 7/64 drill bit impact drive 4$ harbor freight with right angle driver from harbor freight 10$ then use easy out to remove screw 8-10$ harbor freight and use hole that is now in top of screw and drive S2/S1 bit driver tip into hole found in top drawer tool box and no need for new screws square hole on top to drive it in now
Cyclinder removal is the easy part. Removing break off bolts to get ignition out is where people needing to change the whole thing give up. Break off bolts. The person that decided to put those near wear parts needs a hanging
Removing the part that let the ignition turn is the solution for this issue. But no need to cut the cylinder like you did. Bang the cylinder with little hammer till the ignition turns where the little dots align then stick the paper clip ignition now removed. Then get inside the ignition cylinder housing and remove that lock mechanism and don't put it back put everything else back in the ignition cylinder and that's it issue solved!!! 💯 game,, I'm giving away💪💪
