You must know that only 37% voted for BJP and 41% NDA. Not all voted because of hindutva. Just like not all voted against BJP because of hindutva. When BJP officials say/do something which is socially problematic but it makes their core base happy, they will do it. If he would have had any political shrewdness he could have just criticised BJP or just its top leaders but by criticising RSS he mobilises all other organisations also associated with RSS to work with BJP in the elections.
