    Something doesn’t seem right here. You’re 19, you seem to exclaim that you’re paying for things outright. You say you saved up the 29k for a long time, and then out the blue, on a golf you decide you blow 29k of savings. Now for somebody to have the financial wisdom/knowledge to acquire the 29k in such a short time (3 years from the legal age to work) to make such a ill-advised financial decision to dump all their savings into a heavily deprecating asset such as a car does not make sense. Now either you’re not being as transparent with how well off you actually are, and this 29k is merely chump change, or you have loaned out/financed the car, and kept the remaining of your savings for future mods/insurance and tax ect. Which would also make sense why you decided to even mention that you didn’t finance the car or insurance.

      What’s his own business then Blower? Because owning your own bossiness does not automatically make you have thousands stashed in the bank at 19 mate. It doesn’t add up. Either the guy has had a nice injection of cash from an external provider (not hinting anything there) or he has the car on finance/leased, which is not a bad thing might I add, for somebody to just dump so much capital into a depreciating asset such as a 29k car, especially with the ridiculous inflated prices today, is no better way to say it “financial disaster”.

    • @94RS
      @94RS 6 лет назад +41

      blower what I think is obvious to me, is that I’m arguing with kids about finances. Go out into the real world, acquire that 29k for yourself, and then come back to me and tell me how sensible it would be, to dump all that capital graft into a second hand golf.

      @@94RS I'm 41, and 3 weeks ago i dumped £37,000 into a 3 month old Golf R with 9000 miles on the clock - it does have a list price of £48,000 tho.

    • @94RS
      @94RS 6 лет назад +64

      blower 3 months old with 9k miles on it!? Definitely been ragged about that’s for sure! Seriously though, just get these type of cars on a finance plan. They’re seriously not worth the listing price. They’re not worth investing (if you can call it that) thousands of £££ of capital when they’re designed to be a quick finance money making machine. You had 37k... why on earth blow that on a 2.0L golf! Ludicrous. And you’re supposed to be 41, how long did it take you to acquire that 37k? Must of grafted your ass off for what, a 2.0L golf. God some people.

    Interesting and informative video. I purchased my Golf R in 2014, decided to go for a new as I wanted a particular specification, 5 door, DSG, sunroof, leather etc.. I was initially looking to purchase a new Gti but managed to find an excellent deal on the R by using Carwow. Insurance was the biggest surprise for me, using Admiral Multicar policy I can insure both the R and my VW Up for just under £400. Having said that I am in my late 50’s and have maximum no-claims. Enjoy your R.

In 2020 do you know how many adults are struggling to even make ends meet, let alone spend 40k on a golf. It's tone deaf. People like Harry Metcalf are great because they make interesting content and are old enough that they have strived and earned every penny that goes into their car collections. They aren't corporate shills trying to flog finance packages to the gullible. When a child posts a RUclips video about how they 'saved up 40k' it rubs salt into the average persons wounds during these times.
