Took our Tiguan in for a service and I checked filters etc and they were actually replaced which gave me good confidence. Only thing I’m not sure is if they actually changed the dsg filter as that’s a ball ache of a job.
Thanks for the heads up video - hope I get as good luck with problems as you - I've put a deposit down on a 2018 7.5 R from a VW dealer so just waiting on them check it over for the 2 year warranty, do last bits and then all things being well I will have one finally as well! I think you live in the same region as me - based on seeing you driving in St Albans (Could be wrong) - just wondering what independents you tried. I'm in Watford and way back when I had a Mk1 Seat Leon Cupra R I used Total VAG in Leighton Buzzard. Good but bit of a trek. Have been told about a place called VW Doctor that seems to have great reviews, but I'll probably go to VW Watford like I have with the GTD I'm trading in. Appreciate all the vids youve done over the years for just normal real world owner things. All useful information.
No worries at all and I am glad you are enjoying them. Many congrats on your potential MK7.5 R! Personally I would service it at VW ans I've used SCC Performance in St Albans to do the thermostat housing and VAG Tech in Milton Keynes to do the clutch. Both companies I can recommend for sure from my past experience 👍
@@SamAustin thanks for the recommendations, will have to check them out. Trying not to get too excited hopefully there's not too long now. Im going to be doing a 350 mile round trip to get it but combination of colour, wheels, leather, DCC and 30k miles max is a relatively rare combo. Fingers crossed it gets over the line!
Been thinking about buying a golf r or a gti performance pack from a fiesta st. Been edging towards the gti because I think it does more mpg? I do about 40 miles a day now and want something bigger
Fiesta ST will get you better MPG with the GTI around 40mpg depending how you drive. And the R will be down on the GTI a little. There all pretty solid overall as daily drivers so you can't go wrong 👌
Thank you! Funnily enough I was at an event yesterday and had a good chat about the Scirocco. Very suprised VW stopped making it as its a great car and the R version seems very special to me. Many congrats on yours👍
Thanks for the video. I got my R (with DSG) new in 2017. Over 6 years and 60,000 miles: total cost of maintenance (including MOT and tyres) £4,345. All servicing at VW.
Thank you for sharing your experience with your R! Such a fantastic car and well worth keeping for a fair while longer. Costs wise I think that's pretty great and shows how long term ownership can really be a great affordable option 🎉
Cool video as always. They're very decent machines. I've had mine over 5 years and really don't know what to replace it with 😂
Thanks! I think the only thing I could replace it with would be another Golf R as they tick all the boxes for me 👍
I’m exactly the same, had mine 3 years now and it’s had a new engine and clutch all under VW warrenty so it’s like a new car. Mines a 2014 mk7 manual
Love the golf r it's definitely the best cars I've owned possibly the fastest especially with dsg
It really hits all the boxes 👍
Should try bmw 240i next level

@@SamAustin Brilliant it’s too hard to choose which one I’m sure I won’t be disappointed either one I buy, probably opt for the dsg this time round.
Nice video Sam. Have you ever looked at Scirocco Rs? Currently got a facelift model, love it to bits.

I’ve still got my Golf R manual 3 door in tornado red coming up to 5 years now. Great cars!
Such a great car and its fantastic as a long term car for many years as you say. I love tornado red also 😁👍

What about fuel
@@johnstonlee 40mpg is possible on a long run but 30 is a typical average. However, I don’t drive hard.
Your young to own some great cars. Got to love a golf
Early 30's so not that young but have loved all the cars I've owned for sure 👍
@@SamAustin you look in your early 20's that's a good thing though. Love your videos keep them coming
We’re did you get your tee shirt from thanks
