    LYRICS:
    Open your eyes and see
The world I couldn't change for you
Reach out your hand and take
The world that will belong to you
We were on our way to a better day
And the spirit was in us all
But as time went by we fell by the wayside
Maybe you'll be the last to fall
    You are the only ones
There is nobody left but you
    You are the chosen ones
There is nobody else to choose
Back when I was young, my hope was strong
But the time blew it all to hell
If I thought I knew what was good for you
I would have gone and done it for myself
    Worlds of tomorrow
    Life without sorrow
    Take it because it's yours
    Sons of 1984
I can still see the great panorama of hate
Being cleansed by our loving hands
But the brothers broke stride, the sisters cried
Now you have to start all over again

I walked in the middle of a snow storm to the record shop in Erie Pa. No shit it was 3 miles one way. But I got the album and loved it ever since

Man oh man, this whole album. It was 1975, I had a '67 Buick Rivera with an 8-track deck with an amp and graphic. I could cruise till the wheels fell off. Nothing could hurt me, I was invincible, just like every other 17 year old. Now I'm 61 and wondering where it all went but the music lives forever.

"Man oh man, this whole album"
You're right.. gotta play this whole album through - was much easier with 8-track (or CD now.. I forget if is single) than with four sides of vinyl... which I (amazingly) just found in the crate - will put it on.. the (minor) scratches add charactes... which reminds me of "Sounds of the Studio" from Something/Anything (will put that on later...).

I was 12 when "We got you a Women" came out and I began to "dig" Todd. By the time I was 17 I had acquired all of Todd's records along with the prog Utopia records. It was about the time that this album came out I at age 15 began to realize that this dude was a genius of the highest order. By the time Initiation and the Utopia records came out there was no longer any doubt.

@@richardanderson7387 I recently (well, last 12 months anyway. When you're in your 60's, recently means something different from when you're in your 20's) I listened to the Todd Rundgren/Rick Wakeman cover of *Welcome to the Machine* - even in his 70's, Todd still sounds good.
Anyway, we're still waiting for "worlds of tomorrow, life without sorrow."

My all time favorite Todd song. The man could do it all: Musician, Songwriter, Producer, Engineer. Multitalented.

Mid 70's, working at the Grand Canyon. In one of the bathroom stalls, someone had scratched in 'Todd is God'. I knew whom they meant. Not long after, I applied for a cabin to stay in instead of a dorm room, with a guy I barely knew. We figured if we pretended to be a couple, we could have the cabin, meant for 3, just for the 2 of us. Once we moved in, I found out he was a bigtime Todd fan, and he told me about his bathroom artwork. I picked a roomie with excellent taste in music, which was, of course, high on the list of priorities!

I am a literal son of 1984. What a cool song…and I remember people telling us first millennials how our generation was the last of the century and how we were going to change the world.

Looking through his songs i never realized how aware he was. All the same themes in they live. No wonder they didnt hype him up. They made sure history would only remember him as the "hello it's me" guy. Would be fascinating to know how he got into all that stuff.

A live remote of this song/ concert also took place around May, 1973. Those 2 shows were edited together by our boy Todd.
I recall as we were entering the Wollman Rink in Central Park, N.Y.C just before showtime we were handed a lyric sheet for us to sing with him. Truly one of the greatest days of my life! His band was terrific!

The beginnings of Utopia and The Sales brothers al9 g with the Brecker bros.Todd chose the choicest.of session musicians. A d yet, he remained un derapprecitedas a pure genius. Folks just don't know and certainly don't appreciate Todd's contribution to the rock canon.

I saw him at the Berklee Performance Center For The Arts some years ago performing both this album and his Healing album each in their entirety. I've seen him in concert a bunch of times including with The New Cars, but that show in particular was phenomenal. Artists in general seem to find that "full album" format quite fun and stimulating compared to simply dragging out their "hits" of which Todd has had quite a few despite his ambivalence toward them.
