Speaking to the very beginning of the video, a few days ago I saw a camp with maybe 350+ plans. I went to it. Could not for the life of me find the vendor after probably 5 minutes. Left. It annoyed me so much I said out loud, "Why even bother selling?"

As a new player myself, it can be difficult to tell what's a vendor...I was looking for ages around this one camp for the bog standard vendor...turns out it was a robot that I ran past 5 times 😅

yep, same here, i wonder if it's same one i went to, i spent 20 minutes looking for vendor thinking i am crazy. i looked at every object there, they had an underground vault too all closed off and a roof i with a robot and stuff i couldn't access, so only thing i can think of is they put vendor behind walls in vault or on roof and i couldn't find the access. Maybe they only wanted it accessible to people with jetpacks? i don't get it.

That's why I keep the original vendor bot and keep it at the edge of the camp, it's kind of important if you really intend to sell and help other players.

I used to take player vending/trading really seriously but over the last year or so I’ve realized a passion for alcohol brewing in 76. So I make and sell most alcohol including things like champagne and tequila along with giving away free beer “by the barrel”. Now I’m much happier in game (albeit poorer) but happier.

Everything I sell in my vendor is with the intent on helping new players. Everything I sell is priced so that even sub-level 20 players can afford it. I also give away all my extra junk. I put it red boxes that I know new players will be visiting most often. My main CAMP is even located near where new players will walk by most often.
That being said, recipes seem to be my biggest sellers. They go like hot cakes.
It’s also possible that some more senior players are taking advantage of my kindness and reselling thing for much higher prices but i can only do my part and make things available for the new players as best I can.

I'll mass produce Berry Mentats and dump to a mule character and just retrieve them when I need to refresh the vendor or my character's supply. I have roughly 600 on my mule at the moment ready. Nuka Cola and Nuka Cola Quantum sells well. I farm workshops on a private server and set up elevated boxes with all the resource generators (collectron, wood pile, adhesive tree, nuka cola candy, popcorn etc. I'll spend a day farming workshops, collecting the resources and dump to a mule for sale later.) Workshop plans from capture/defend 'll sell for 3-9 caps. I run Master Infiltrator so I don't need bobby pins so I'll dump those to new players or sell for 1 cap apiece. Popcorn and Nuka Candy I put in for 0 caps as a loss leader - I find if people get something for 'free' from my vendors they tend to spend more.

You are likely practically giving away valuable "Trade Only"/"Cannot be measured in caps" weapons (at max lvl 45-50 anyways).
The sooner new players discover Fed76 Legendary calculator, the less regret you will have later when you discover the /Market76 reddit. God roll weapons are worth way more than caps, and trading is your best (if not only) chance to get the ones you want. You will also need to have comparable items to trade for them, that you don't want to be listing on your vendors.

For legendary weapons and plans, I've been using the respective FED76 websites to get a very loose idea of what things are worth. So far, I haven't had much trouble selling things by taking the suggested prices on the websites and pricing them a bit lower. Lower gradually if it's not selling. Since it's a free market, can't really get an exact idea of what price one should go for, but it's a good starting point to get an idea, I feel. Just take it with a grain of salt.
Selling craftable costumes is a great way to get some pocket change too. I typically just put them in my shop for the already given price or a slight adjustment and I'm always running back to camp to make more. I've been selling stamp outfits, event outfits that I got the plans for, even outfits from newer or obscure quests. Those are a big hit, and they don't cost me much to make.

Apparel sells well. If you can craft it, sell it cheap unless its expensive to make. Maybe half what the game suggests. It'll move, and it doesn't weigh down your stash box. And vary what you sell with items that sell cheap/fast and items that are more expensive.

I sell all craftable & rare apperal, 250 caps for craftable and price varies for rare ones, mutations for 400, different nuka colas, specific ammo types. Have 2 guns.
Appreal is my hot seller I regularly have to restock. Mutations would be 2nd.
My main camp is a dedicated trading post with 2 vendors & a shelter with 4 additional vendors. If my camp isn't "meant" to have a vendor like for an aesthetic reason such as with a house camp I built, I turned the root cellar into a Free States Flea Market and make it very obvious for people visiting that my vendor is found there.
