The things you can accomplish with technology nowadays is incredible.
If this kinda thing existed when I was a kid, I would've been floored!

If you have a 3DS with Pokémon crystal on it they actually added this event it’s pretty cool

"Download Rom" has a cart reader lol

Hahahaha 😆 I know it’s ridiculous but tried copying the rom on the cart and the event wouldn’t trigger - so had to download an internet ROM! Very bizarre!

I suggest just buying a flashable cart with a battery so it can do time based events then flashing crystal on it as it will be way cheaper than buying a legitimate copy of crystal because people want an insane amount of money for them these days lol

Class video's mate!! This one specifically is the only one I can't achieve due to not having a cardt reader, would the epilogue GB operator work for this? Or do you know of any cheaper cart readers on the market?

I will branch out soon mate but at the moment I’ve got heaps of stuff to do for Gen 2-6 Pokémon games - yes the BennVenn does work with GBA Carts!

I've tried this with savefile from both Flash Boy and GB Operator, no luck. When I try to load my .SAV file I get a error message: "Failed to read RTC from the save game". Any tips?

      Hey mate!
Are you running these on Windows? Are you getting a ‘PMCRYSTA.SAV’ file?
Make sure you’re importing the correct save from your cart reader (not the RTC file) and you’ve got a compatible version of VBA downloaded (test with a clean ROM) and make sure you’re running the SAV file with the clean ROM (link provided) -
Let me know how you get on!

Additionally if you’re having trouble getting the Sav file, disconnect and reconnect your cart reader and check the Sav file isn’t corrupted in PKHeX - sometimes Cart readers can misread Sav files!

also try to clean the copper traces on the cart with IPA or a non abrasive eraser, before yo attempt to import the SAV

@@Game_Boy_Man Thank you for taking your time answering me!
I caught Celebi! But this code did not work unfortunately :(
If this happens to someone else, here is how I managed to catch Celebi:
      - Starter note: I'm running this on Windows 10, 64bit. I'm 100% sure I use/used a .sav file. I'm not getting the exact same name, but the .sav name is on GB Operator: "Pokemon - Crystal Version (USA, Europe) (Rev A).sav" and on Flash Boy: "PM_CRYSTAL_2023.11.16-08.28.53.sav". I've also tried to rename the files to "PMCRYSTA.SAV". It might be an easier process with the "BennVenn Cart Reader", I don't know. I managed in the end to read the files from my Flash Boy, the GB Operator files did not work.
I finally got the .sav files to load after many, many attempts. I don't know why, but when I downloaded the .sav backup files, I got the "Failed to read RTC from the save game". I kept downloading .sav backups and studently one file was working! Then I had another problem, the UI is not the same when you download the Visual Boy Adcance, as in this video. You need to click Tools > Cheats > Enable Cheats, then Tools > Cheats > List Cheats... To get Game Shark cheats to enable, click the +*green* (add new cheat) and type in description and codes, make sure the "type" is Game Shark.
Unfortunately the Game Shark code: 010B3CBE does not trigger the event. Both me and my wife's Pokémon Crystal (Original/authentic, Eur-version) does not work with this code, I read posts about the same issue on various forums also (some people only get this code to work on emulators), the code: 010B3CBE does not trigger the event. We had to do it another way:
We used Game Shark code: 0173F2D0 to buy the GS Ball from the mart, next to Kurt. Then also have code: 01C089DA activated, when returning to Kurt with the GS Ball, that will trigger him to give you a GS Ball that you can use on your original cartridge. Save the game and follow this video every other step, except the original event at Goldenrod, if this happens to you also.
Thank you very much for this awesome video, Game_boy_man! Me and my wife appreciated this guide very much.
      Other side notes:
      - _All_ the files are running just fine on PKHeX, with original name and renamed as "PMCRYSTA.SAV". The same if i upload the save files to my Pokémon Crystal cartridge.
      - On my wife's Pokémon Crystal, I had to download 15-20 backup files before it finally loaded into the emulator(on mine I had approximately 5-10 attempts on backup files before it worked). Important note here if you keep getting the error message(!): I still got the error message on my wife's Pokémon Crystal save when the save was loaded into the emulator: "Failed to read RTC from the save game", but the file actually loaded! So don't always belive the error message, check the start menu after the intro! Only one of the 15-20 files actually read as corrupted in the start menu, so it seems to be something wrong with the handshake/connection with the files and the emulator. At least when using Flash Boy and GB Operator as I did, maybe it's much easier and better with the BennVenn Cart Reader.
      - I cleaned the copper traces on both cartridges with isopropyl alcohol. I don't think this was a key factor, but worth a try if you're 100% stuck.
