Trying a new helmet-mounted Go Pro Hero 9. i think the FOV was too narrow, i will try a wider FOV next round. Conditions were damp, with sporadic drizzle. Heat 1 had it worst, so times are not too fair to compare. Car felt fine, Falken RT660s did okay given the conditions. It was a fun course that offered two potential opportunities to try downshifts to 1st gear.
Significant changes for 2024:
- 255/40/17 Falken RT660 on 17x9
- Ohlins DFV Road & Track coilovers with off-the-shelf 8k/5k springs and valving
- OEM airbox (no more noise maker intake!)
- FAL420 cooling fans (OEMs were dying)
- EBC yellowstuff brake pads

Looks like you took inspiration from my drifting finish during your ride along ;) Epic car control, you always look like you are going in too hot but somehow you make the car do the impossible. The shifting was magical, you are like a human PDK. I like the POV shot, though it feels too zoomed in, was getting a bit of motion sickness watching it. Reminds me of simracing in VR.
Yeah, aka I should've used a small lift and kept my darn feet off the brakes! I'll look at my data this afternoon to see how much I lost right there.
This was my first go pro event, I was troubleshooting battery issues and didn't have time to play with settings prior. I'm going to zoom out for next event.
Ps... Can't wait to see you almost FTD run on video
@@rx8matt The very last corner really did not require brakes. I gained half a second by just lifting and being patient on throttle. Car was more stable too.
My video is up with data. Looking at the traction circle looks like your car had a slight edge in braking grip. Maybe I've just got too much front camber. I struggled to make the stop box. Nice to see we were both easily pulling 1G in the wet. Bowie is very fast and planted in the wet.
Insane footwork. Did the downshift help?
Sadly, for as awesome as it looks and as fast as it felt... when i looked at the data, it was a really minor difference (
Was great to see you out there on Saturday, was really struggling for grip on the last few corners but you made it seem really effortless. You planning on going to the next event as well? Might ask you for a few pointers!
Yeah I plan to make almost all of the PCA chesapeake, MBCA and SCCA events in DC. Come say hi next time, I'll be happy to chat
if its squeaky then it means it works 😎
Who designed this course, a guy driving a Suzuki Cappuccino?! 🤣
Nice job with the delicate footwork in sub-optimal conditions on what looks like a frustratingly tight course 👍
They wanted to add to the, erm, "challenge". 😉😉
