I am SO glad I watched this video! And I'm not going to beat you up over the adhesive, lol! One thing that I think helps with mixing small batches like this is to add the concrete to the wster as opposed to adding the water into the concrete. Starting with less water than you think you'll need then adding more as needed. But my takeaway from this video is that I will be sifting my concrete first to eliminate those pebbles (Im just doing small walkway so only using 1-2 bags). I would have never thought to do that prior to watching this because it is supposed to be a fine mix. So thank you and so glad you needed that 3rd bag! There are so many youtubers making DIY videos and trying to make everything look easy and even edit out mistakes. We don't learn as much from those so I appreciate you sharing your honest, unedited experience!!.
I also appreciate them you never know what to truly expect after watching videos of people who do projects like this daily and have all the kinks worked out feel free to subscribe you never know what kind of shenanigans I will get into next
To everyone that's using Recap, if you want a rough surface and use a broom - do it lightly because the grooves will make it that much thinner. (Voice of experience)
A sincere thank you Nate, this will help a ton of people learn not to use these portland based products. Products that contain Portland Cement (which is the " fast set glue" of concrete) always end up too white and match almost nothing. Regret usually follows along with a waste of a great deal of time , hard work and money. These videos are very helpful to others. Been there , done that. Unfortunately. Thank you for helping others.
Thanks for the informative video. I am doing all of my homework before I attempt using this product on my driveway. Observations, and questions: Isn't the bonding agent sppposed to be rolled on, and let to dry? Not mixed into the re cap mix/water? Also, it seems like you can not get a consistent thickness in the finish by only using a squeegee. I was thinking about spreading the mix out with a squeegee, and then finishing to a rough, non-slip grip with a broom. Again, thanks for the video!
Yes the bonding agent is ment to be painted on but there I a method that mixes it in I would not recommend doing it for this application. Recap claims to be self leveling and I believe it works well but I was trying to get a very thin coat on and my floor was poured very poorly but after the second coat I am very pleased with how level it is 🤷♂️ except that one spot I didn't notice until it was dry but that's my bad My recommendation is start with a small batch and then work your way bigger after you get a feel for it
I guess reading the instructions isn't your thing. The instructions state specifically how much water to add, how to mix it, specifically not to add any kind of bonding agent and a few other things. Thanks for showing us exactly how not to do something.
Thanks for the video man, i'm gonna use this stuff on an old busted up floor with some divits and stuff in it and after watching yours I think I can do it, thanks man, fuck the haters!
Yeah you know what I’m so glad I watch this video because I’m fixing to do this tomorrow to my driveway and no I know not to use the bonding agent because it gives it an ugly white color that is not very uniform in the end. Other than that great job. I’m sure it would’ve come out really nice if you didn’t use the bonding agent. I actually have a bottle of the bonding agent that I am going to return now. Great video bro
I only used the bonding agent in the first layer I was hoping I could but the second layer just pulled it into it turning both layers white. But it turned out smooth I would say probably close to a good new concrete finish
@@natesworld814 don't you love that. Get halfway through a project. Something comes up, then something else. Next thing you know it's been two years. Lol. The video is helpful and a basement floor is one thing, but oh my god if my driveway ended up looking like that I'd have to tear it out and start over, or else drop the value of the house by $20k. p.s. what happened with the tiny pothole, did it work out ok?
I agree if it was a drive way I probably would have worked harder fixing it. Everything has held up great I have found a few weak spots along the damp edges but they haven't chipped yet granted it doesn't see much activity. So yes the pothole has been great that's is actually in the center of all the activity now and no signs of weakness
My math says 8.5 bags. If you need the entire patio that deep though I think I would use regular readymix. It will leave you with a much stronger surface. If you only have holes that are a ½ then this product will be fine
I have a 20x40 dog kennel floor I need to redo. Would you recommend? How has it held up with traffic? Mine gets washed every day and lots of dog claws.
It's held up great for me. Definitely make sure it's clean, don't use the bonding agent like I did, I would also put it on thin that way if for some reason it did chip it won't be a big deal and where it needs to be thicker it will have the straight it needs. Just my thoughts and opinions

But for real though thank you for the constructive criticism oh wait there was nothing constructive about it

the max thickness of this product is ½ but I don't believe I personally would use it in your situation it may work well but personally I think I would just use normal reading mix may have to pick out a few stones that are to big but it would probably hold up better
Its holding up great I've dropped stuff I didn't mean to drop on it and it has yet to chip and even with the excess bonding agent it is holding up to foot traffic perfect I am very much impressed with it
I dont know if it weakened it or not I wouldn't assume it would probably weaken it a little being so thin but I think it probably would have chipped by now if I had it thicker

Can paint be applied over recap? I’m thinking about using a hopper to spray texture / knock down then paint.
Hint: put some liquid in bucket first then powder on top so when mixed no powder or lumps on the bottom.
