I understand the confusion with all the different plans and information around calories, macros etc. All this knowledge has left us a bit helpless. I was just talking to my mum about this and the decision I have made is to park all that knowledge and just do slimming world as slimming world is designed. The plan does work, but when we over think it (calories, macros) we are basically messing with the plan and then it stops working. Saying that I do weigh rice/pasta/potatoes to a standard portion size since just for piece of mind, but I don’t count anything for them, they are still free on SW. Sometimes you just have to trust the process. I think SW messes with our heads in suggesting we’ll lose weight every week, which isn’t true. Even on a calorie deficit it is understood that you might not lose every single week, it’s the longer term trajectory that matters. Pick one place, follow its rules, and give it a bit of time before jumping ship. All you really need for a 1lb loss is a 250 calorie deficit and an additional 250 calorie burn (get your 10k steps in)
I can totally relate Andrea!! I feel guilty when i eat carbs and guilty when i eat fat as I've done so many different diets where one or the other is vilified. I also don't have the time to calorie count as I'm far too busy every day. I try to stick to healthy foods all the time but then today i just said F it and ate lots of bread. Although I'm not overweight, i don't think I'll ever have a normal relationship with food. It's always good days or bad days. I'd love to have a day where i just ate food for fuel and didn't think about whether it was making me fat or slim. I love how honest you are in your videos. I'm sure lots of people can relate ❤

First of all Andrea there are big hugs being sent to you, I’m sure most of us have been through this worry and sense of desperation at various times on our journeys, but it’s just a blip. It’s your body communicating with you and making sure that you know what you’re doing - I promise you it’s a real thing! If you think about it you had a similar experience when you panicked over being too thin and this is the same thing repackaged as a different fear. So, with that in mind I would urge yourself to stop beating yourself up because you’re actually doing really well on this tough challenge. You’d never blame someone who dropped out of a marathon at mile 24 and tell them they were useless, you’d praise their courage and effort and success for those 24 miles and you’d encourage them to have another go to get to the end. You can and will get to target. When I first joined SlimmingWorld I was told to forget everything I thought I knew about calories because it would seriously mess up my relationship with food. You can’t combine diet plans because your brain will keep warning you that you’re eating too much, which is essentially what has happened to you. As you pointed out SW encourages you to listen to your body and eat until you are satisfied, so some days you will want that extra scoop of rice or pasta and you can’t afford (mentally) to deprive yourself when you’re hungry because then you’re into yo-yo dieting and that’s miserable. If you trust the plan and are kinder to yourself you will see results. You know it works because you’ve lost a lot of weight on it, and not everyone loses every week - I certainly don’t. Last week I put on a pound and this week I lost 3.5lbs, and I eat the same things (mostly) every week. But overall I average 1-2lbs a week which is a healthy rate and I don’t question why my results are so varied as long as the trend is downwards. I think your idea to meal plan and prep your meals is excellent and I would suggest that you have a few SW ready meals from Iceland in the freezer for those inevitable CBA days. I know they are more expensive than cooking from scratch but I tend to view them as an investment in myself. So I hope you take all this on board. I think you’re almost there, Andrea, but sometimes when you want something so badly it’s easy to self-sabotage. You’ve absolutely got this, you’re doing everything right, just trust yourself and the plan and those pounds will start coming off again. Sorry for the essay! Lots of love xxx

I completely understand what your saying. My advice would be 1) maybe add some exercise in and 2) reduce your portion sizes with out measuring like with calorie counting just put a smaller jacket potato on for yourself or alittle less rice/pasta than usual I really like the slimming world plan too but it is easy to overeat on the portion free food

I’ve been trying to lose the same stone for months, the scales show 4lb off one week 🎉🎉 but the next week it’s back on again and I haven’t done anything different 🤷♀️ I’m just not obsessing anymore, eat healthily the majority of the time and live your life xx
I agree. As soon as you think of whatever plan you’re on as “a diet” that immediately stops once you get to target, I think you get dragged into a bad situation with food. This is why it’s important to eat healthily because I think the moment you deviate that’s when the weight piles back on. Once we’re at target we can have the occasional takeaway and the occasional slice of birthday cake but effectively we have to be “on plan” for the rest of our lives.

Been doing sw for 2 weeks now. Maintained first week. Upped my excercise. Been soing 12-13,000 steps a day, upped water intake. Trying to eat more, as was missing breakfast. How much have I lost, not an ounce. I just despair.
Bloody hell, this sounds exhausting. No wonder you can't be arsed. Right. Stop. Take a breath. Back to Why. WHY do you want to loose weight? Why don't you? Oh, Andrea, you're so mean to yourself with some of the things you say. Would you talk to a friend like you talk to yourself? Nope. Bullying doesn't work. Self compassion ❤ you are more than loosing weight. You've put so much into it that you're tying yourself in knots. Take a step back. Make it simple. Drop the inner critic. Hi Andrea I’ve would give you 2 bits of advice that helped me. Firstly don’t think of your target as a whole break it down i.e half stone. Also portion control is big calorie counting alongside slimming world helped me massively x

Does your doctors do any type of weight loss clinic, or could give you some advice. Thats my next stop. If I find any good advise from them, I'll def let you know hun. A lot older than you, but I feel your pain hun ❤❤❤
Have you thought of doing ww instead of slimming world. It’s similar to sw I believe with lots of free foods but you have to use your points for the heavier carbs and processed foods, so you would have to portion control your carbs. There’s deals around for on line I recently had an offer of 6.50 a month for a years contract which is a massive saving compared to sw.
It’s not the plan that’s the problem (is it, Andrea?) it’s her psychological demons. She’s doing everything right she’s just got to relax. At least that’s my perspective.
Never done WW as there isn't any classes round by me, and I love that group support. But if it is that cheap online, I will definitely look into it - thank you 😘 And I like the sound of pointing the heavy carbs side as that is definitely where I have the problem 🤣 x
Everything you said, Andrea, sounds like me . I tried cc them sw . I think that I should just eat more sensibly. Eat proper food but in smaller potions. I have a friend who is very slim she said that she never counts calories or anything. She says if she wants something she has it but not all the time. Perhaps that's what I (you) should do Perhaps the worry of dieting does our minds to want what we think we shouldn't have. 🤔

It isn't easy this dieting malarky is it ???. I feel my life revolves around food 24/7. To help with the calorie deficit could you try SP for say 3 days a week and see what the results are like then? Love the" car confessions" I am sure your consultant has asked you to do a food diary. It would be interesting to see what their take on it is ? good luck with whatever you chose to do this week.
I think with it only being my first week of maintaining, she thinks it is a blip and will have a loss next week. So no food diary this week. But you're so right, it is bloody hard, lol. Good idea about SP - a few have said the same. Thank you 😘 x

I absolutely get it , I lost 7 stone with weight watchers and have put it all back on this past year , now deciding between ww or sw to go again ! 😢
