The next part of the refresh of older DBFZ guides is here! So lets talk about the basics of assists, from just general stuff to cooldowns, use in combos etc etc. Timestamps for mobile users below: 0:40 - the basics 2:24 - Assist cooldowns/regeneration 4:24 - using assists in combos 8:57 - the new "C" type assists in season 3 dbfz 11:56 - using assists defensively 13:14 - using assists for pressure 14:26 - in closing
Virus outbreak update: As of this upcoming Monday my tiny sleepy canadian town will also be in shutdown. All non essential businesses/services must close down for an unspecified amount of time. Also I have an infection! Not the 'rona but I got a gum infection I get every now and then for the last forever. Makes my lips inflamed and hard to speak proper I had to re-record a lot of segments of this video due to it. Not really a big deal in the end and I hope this counts as using up my "sickness allotment" :-0
I just came from a private dentist all others are closed, I have same thing kinda had to get antibiotics might want check that out this the worst pain bro. Funny seeing this right after. Got me some pain meds tho bout to pop n jump on some Dragon ball
I run C assists on my point characters. What I do with them is use them to extend the combos of my mid or anchor characters and DHC my point back in ASAP. Doing that, you've already taken advantage of the C assist's power, while nullifying the cooldown by switching characters, and you brought back your point back into the field, which is where you want him anyways.
I'm still happy about each character having three assists, because it let's people get even more creative with their teams, (if they want to that is). :3
A little list of the powerful air-tracking C-Assists: 1. Goku Blue 2. Nappa 3. Hit 4. Bardock 5. Goku GT 6. Goku Black 7. Piccolo 8. Gogeta 9. Vegito Honorable Mention: Beerus Some of these characters' tracking isn't as good, or they might actually have better assists either by team synergy (like Piccolo's orbs) or practically objective (you really want to have a poorly tracking air C over GT's beam?)
I have to dissagree with this idea. None of the Supers in this game are designed for something like that to work well. I understand that it's a cool idea, but it makes no sense to do that
I've noticed that the added cooldown on C type assists doesn't matter as much as a lot of us were afraid. Because there's the mechanic of cooldown being delayed when applying pressure there's sort of a diminishing return on assist availability and pressure.
The cool down of C-assists can be somewhat negated by switching to the character who is on cooldown. Combos that use the assist and allow for a raw tag make this quite easy. What it means, however, is that your point character and, likely, slot 2 character need to be solid point characters.
Hey there, thank you for your content. :) I've had the game for a few months and have only now came back to the game to play "for realsies". I'm having a lot of difficulty with z-combos(?) It seems like anytime I get to challenges 9 & 10 with every characters combo challenge I am either unable to do them or complete them via what I feel to be pure luck. Feel like my timing is completely off but I can't tell what are my inputs and the autocombos from time to time. Edit: just read your update, hope you feel better soon and stay in the utmost health.
I'm not sure if you know but there is a demo which lets you see what the combo is supposed to look like. Sometimes there are hidden inputs in there lile dashing forward or a slight delay which may throw off your timing
C is better for beginners as it’s easier to connect and extend combos and A assists are better for more advanced players who can take advantage of the regen time.
So when you dragon rush in the corner you basically must be in a combo in order to cancel it. Or can you dragon rush and cancel it with a special ? thanks for the videos very detailed
Im fairly new to the game ive learnt about bnb dragon rushes z assists during combos and a plethora of stuff that has served me well. But the z assists to be aggresive is the bane of me. What can i do if im trying to push somebody using z asissts and instead changes the character regardless of how slightly i press the button and that leaves me wide open and ive lost matches because of that. Ive tried with different controllers to no avail cuz it doesnt matter it changes characters is there a way to change that or advice or something cuz im getting seriously discouraged. I want to push people using assist but im afraid itll switch to somebody else leaving me open. Haha
I'm a beginner and I wanna ask. In most cases, what is the minimum total damage that you should reach when using assists for combos? I know it depends on characters but seeing it from general aspect, what do u think? For example is 4000 dmg enough considering I spent an assist meter for that combo?
Whenever I try and use assists in a combo o change whenever I wanna change I call in a assist I’m just trying to have fun without all theses sweats using combo extensions with assist that don’t let me move until I die
no? I made this guide when the game came out yes, and I am remaking many of the classic guides with season 3 in mind for general updates. Tons of new people are still coming into the game so don't be that guy acting like you too tough for a refresher, ain't very becoming.

I feel way more satisfied with this game now that we have multiple assists.
Feels deeper and more complete
I've only been playing for a few months. This game only allowed 1 assist before?
@@MM-gp9mb 1 assist *choice* per character. We now have 3 assist choices per character.
A - assist = Default / cooldown 7 sec.
B - assist = Alternate /cooldown 7 sec.
C - assist = EX / cooldown 15 sec.
Sparking(X-Factor)
3 fighters = 10 seconds
2 fighters = 30 seconds
limit break / 1 only = 50 seconds to 1 minute
I've just started to try and learn a few combos with aasists and this video drops. Are you reading my mind man? Great vid :D
Great faith and good will. I really appreciate your contribution in all this.
Loving the updated SZN 3 guides!

Always such detailed videos Dude, especially with the clear and layered examples! Time to hit the lab and grind out some Nappa assists :D

I use Vegitto C-assist a lot, anywhere in the screen tracks
Gogetas is pretty awkward in combos to land properly.
Still bummed out there isn't command grab assists but hey...
What I would be more thrilled for now would be alternative DHC supers
Season 2 goku gt spirit bomb dhc, that would be a nightmare

THANK YOU!!!
I just cannot figure out how to pick my assists or how to time them to extend my combos at all :( I’m terrible at this game!

"With Broly there I can kinda knock ya up." Hey that's lewd.
Am I the only one who thinks you sound like the chef of the "Food Wishes" YT channel? Love the content.
I get that all the time
my problem is timing the assist correctly for combo extensions

Ok, but how u know what assist ur bringing out, like what button u needs click to bring a specific one out
Im so confused how did he do the dragon rush without send the opponent into the air so he can continue the combo?
is it worth picking a character for their assist alone?
